this is one of my most wanted wii games.... i love ssx. it's the most underated ea game IMO.

so the japanese launch was totally unexciting... wii are available... most are preordered... stores sell out... but no drama and most people buy one for themselves rather than ebay. next... oh wait... next is US yay!

yeah because the 15 people in the world... all under six and playing pokemon... who still use the shambling purple fisher-price reject sale alike gamecube... are exactly the same people who nintendo are targetting the wii at now. the gamecube compatability thing doesn;t even hold up... surely there can be hardware settings for the wii software to check.. and a different state that is triggered when a gc disc is recognised

well.... with a wireless laptop you can effetively do both

because why should you have it as a setting in each and every game and have to set it every single game you play.... when since the xbox there have been other consoles that let you choose just once. also some companies don;t bother, and others do horrid, and inconsistent pal conversions.... eg capcom. and i really don;t think the gamecube should be held up as an example of how to do things right either.

i might wit for rental.... but past experince of game that review like that is that they are ok, but i never really want to finish them because they get so old.

This is a few days early (only a few days left ) I know. But i thought It would make a great thread if we all post a little summary of our first few hours with the wii EG: 23:30 froze to death outside game while FSOAB manager perspired over a kebab inside the store. 00:00 Same store manager took hundreds of pounds off me (again) without barely saying thank you (again) 00:30 Ran around dancing a little jig to the wii start up chime. if we can all post our impressions in this format... it'd make a great read and save the inevitable 40 million 'impressions' thread we'll get on friday.

it's intersting that mario mario galaxy seems to have so much to prove.... arguably it's doing a lot more original things with the game than zelda has... not that i think there is a single thing wrong with zelda, before i get flamed to death. But it's weird people don;t seem to see it as being innovative.

the wii has a 60hz setting in the hardware options for the european model? if nintendo left this out I'll be really, really let down.... especially as many thirdparties don't seem to have set their technical bar very high in other areas *cough* ubisoft

personally... i'd rather not waste my £40 hard earned quid on unfinished tripe... esepcially when there's plenty of better games out and metroid will clearly rule in the spring. but do enjoy it all the same

can you believe we're now only a few days away from playing a game we've wanted to appear since the second we loaded up ocarina of time? I think i've been fairly good at avoiding spoillers.... i don't know anything about the main quest (after the initial dungeons) or any of the many plots twists that have been mentioned in passing. i couldn't be more excited...... well... not until mario galaxy comes out anyway

by the end of next week it should be close to 2 million... if they have another 500,000 machine for europe, plus the weekly restocks in the states and japan they have promised. I just can't believe nintendo has gone from that shocking e3 where they gave stage time to 4 player link-up pac man, to reclaiming their crown.

nintendo have quotedb 4m by the year end.... thats 50%+ of the 360's 7 month headstart in only 6 weeks. amazing return to form...
