  1. Oh my god! LMAO!
  2. .... however.... it seems like good news all round.
  3. oh god..... did you have to post that? It still seems like forever.
  4. Well 75% of nintendos teams are working Revolution and DS titles and they haven't put out any really big GC game in nearly a year. You have to assume they've been pretty busy on NEW stuff in that time. E3 is going to rock. I actually write a front page column for Britxbox.co.uk and would love to do one here too (anyone out there?) - to be honest that post wasn't meant to be an article and so would have been a bit more balanced if it was. Anyway, my surrent column is up at BXB - it's about whether or not the 360 offers anything really new. (it's the first one in the list) anyway guys... some nice replies <Looks around> i think i'm going to like it here.
  5. So, here we are. A couple of months away from the Rev's true unveilling at E3. Excited? You should be. As someone who bought an Xbox 360 on the launch night, I have to say that Nintendo's current thinking is painfully correct. The new console from microsoft and sony may be powerful, but curcially do they offer anything new? Lots of nice features, yes. But anything New? No. Is project gotham 3 any better to play than gran turismo 4 because it has real-life locations and (slightly) better car models? No. Does perfect dark manage to overcome it's myriad of design issues because it's pretty? No. If you look at the 360 - all it really does is what the xbox did with a few bells and whistles. The experience is in no way new. If you were the type of consumer who did think playstaion or xbox 1 were interesting, does xbox 360 have anything to really convince you? No. In fact, if anything it's even more complicated, expensive, and off-putting. Games need to change, we've been playing tarted up versions of the same old thing for 5 or 6 years now. As an avid gamer myself (having playing games for 20 years now, eek) it's rather worrying that i am getting bored. Even with new hardware on the horizion (and in my home), games are failing to ignite my interest like they once did. Nintendos strategy of providing a new experience through the interface is going to pay off big style. why? because it removes barriers, simplifies the experience without removing the depth. And at the same time it offers something new and compelling. In the same way that mario 64 offered new control and a fresh take on a an old experience to provide a wow-factor that still hasn't really been matched - the revolution has the potential to provide new experiences and invigorate the market (which if you look at the finances of most games companies, is struggling despite the size of the industry growing). If for one am happy to wait however long i have to for the revolution and, having realised the xbox 360 is all hype with substance, will not be tempted by a PS3 either. IMO the rev makes the 360 and PS3 look really old hat without even trying to match their specs. my predictions about the revolution. 1, it's going to be at least half the cost of either xbox or ps3 - nintendo ignoring HDTV and other expensive features is going to make revoltuion cheap. 2, it WILL NOT feature a headset or 'stereoscopic display' as has been rumoured. Why? Because nintendo want to alienate as few people as possible. Putting on a headset or having a new type of display is hardly the way forward to DS-style mass appeal. 3, it will take the number one spot in japan within a year. As the DS has proved in it's battle with the PSP and constant domination of the Jap top 10, the Japanese are ready for something new and will embrace it without hesitation. Also expect Japanese Software houses to have a field day with the rev - sonic team in particular. 4, Publishers will come back to nintendo in droves... The low development costs for the REV will make it an attractive business proposition even if it doesn't sell as well as PS3. 5, Nintendos in-house teams are going to return to form and then some. Having lost their way a little with the gamecube. Nintendos focus on easy to use tools, rebuilding key franchises and fast turnaround big name titles is going to give fans a cause for celebration. 6, Smash Brothers, Pilot Wings, Sonic, and Metroid are all going to be launch titles. Phew that was a long one!! see you!
  6. io reckon it's this year... looks like a fairly simple game so shouldn't be hard for them to make it quickly... and it looks like the sonic heroes engine which is alreayd on all three formats via renderware anyway.
  7. 1, NiGHTS - imagine controlling nights with the motion sensor and using the stick to perform tricks. it would be sublime. please sonic team. PLEASE  2, starfox - fly using the revo controller and the stick to aim/shoot 3, Pilotwings - should be obvious why. 4, An rpg where you cast spells by waving the controller in specific patterns for different spells like a wand.
  8. THE SPECS DON'T MATTER. sheesh. nintendo has just shown you a fantastic new way to play that is unique to their system... and all you care about is them not giving you a bunch of meaningless numbers to stack up against PS3. i have three numbers for you... 1, revolution is not as powerful as ps3 or xbox 360 2, it does not matter a bit. 3, ...because nintendos strategy is differentiation and a lower spec means cheaper to make games and more chance that people will take creative risks.
  9. agreed. i actually write a column for an xbox website... and think that MS are in a bit of hot water now... they don;t have the mass appeal of sony and the WOW factor of the revolution... i seriously don't feel very excited by xbox 360 now. it just seems so bland and 'ordinary' compared to what nintendo just showed us. if all three were launching together, why would anyone buy an x360?
  10. OH MY GOOD GOD imagine flying the arwing with the main controller and then selecting targets and shooting with the analogue stick in the left hand. it would be heaven! if nintendo don't do this.... i'll.... i'll... err, be.... err.... really mad.
  11. Well nintendos glory days and best games of the last few years were all about ime where the company matched the technical features of the console to new gameply ideas (mario 64, zelda: toot, the super famicom launch line up, nintendogs etc). The revolution controller and console will allow them to make that abundantly clear again.... i haven't this excited since they showed the n64 for the first time on bad influence.
  12. how cool is this? nintendo back on form, a new site, and tons of good stuff to come. This is the beggining of big new things for nintendo. i'm still not sure they can beat sony for userbase, but DS has shown that the public want innovation... a return to nintendos glory days may well be ahead.
  13. yeah i love the layout too... just a shame about the name.
  14. Now that we know for sure what it's all about... i'm so happy. I was hoping for motion sensing tech months back...imagine a pilotwings game where you 'fly' by moving the controller.... or fzero where you steer by tilting.... or a block puzzle game where you use the controller as a pointer.... I seriously can't wait to see the games... suddenly the actual power of the console seems unimportant - the whole concept screams FUN! also as an aside.... who want's an xbox 360 now? you'll have nintendo for fun innovative stuff, a ps3 for the bread and butter genres and developer support and an x360 for.... what exactly?
  15. ... haven't you guys been a little rash in changing the name of the site? if you notice, the name revolution has been removed from all the new images of the hardware. will you change the name again when they confirm a realname for the system. by the way..... the new site looks ace. well done.
