  1. well we know the rev will be cheaper than other consoles... which nintendo has attacked for being too expensive... seeing as we also know that: nintendo views 360 as expensive at £209 rev has relatively (very - now we know the specs) cheap to make hardware ... given these two points, how much to do you reckon?
  2. harsh innit:D
  3. i guess really what all this boils down to is that: the rev will not match the other two for graphics at all ... and we will have to wait for e3 to see just how big that gap really is. .
  4. he has better contacts than any of us....
  5. it modular anyway isn't it?
  6. well.... more 'bad' news then.... the rev editors blog on ign seems to suggest that, based on current developer feedback, shader support isn;t really on the cards today < http://blogs.ign.com/Matt-IGN > anyone on here shed any more light on this?
  7. i'd say it was a given already.... one of the rev control demos was flying a bi-plane through delfino plaza after all. but to see the game start to actually materialise is good news - especially given it's absence from rumours so far. W00T!
  8. sorry i meant a lot of NTSC ones are... i have no idea whether a mod could unlock that for uk code or whether it's totally removed.
  9. i think that when technical limitations were the order of the day the story wasn;t so important because the entire package required you to suspend your disbelief. now we have such amazing presentation that the story has to be up to a decent par or the package falls apart. i wonder if on the rev we will see story changed that justify new gameplay methods... as has been hinted at by TP being the last traditional zelda.
  10. i can;t help but laugh when i think the cube is so dead that a decent game gets annouced and everyone thinks it's a joke. and.... then... i want to cry.
  11. <looks around thread> wow.... .... and i thought Halo fans were slightly obbsessive about the story.
  12. and the last one was well over rated.
  13. most gamecube games already do support prog scan. rev support is unknown... it seems doubtful there will be speed increases as the hardware is very similar. expect games to play as they do on the gc.
  14. this.... • Michel Ancel is the one responsible for the likes of the Rayman series as well as the King Kong iteration on current and next-gen consoles. His finest title though received the least amount of sales, that being Beyond Good and Evil, a true gem from the current-gen systems that unfortunately not that many people played. Thankfully though, it seems like a sequel may be in the works and also will be heading to the Nintendo Revolution! from here.... http://www.nintendorevolution.ca/04042006/18/nintendo_revolution_rumor_mill_recap_7 hurrah!
  15. actualkly the ps2 has the psone chipset included - it's used as system controller - because sony were able to cost-reduce it so far. it is still unkown whether the ps3 will emulate or use a similar method. i'm hoping the rev actually does just run the software after experiencing the ropey emulation of xbox games by the 360. halo/2 excluded.
  16. he actually said he expects games to cost less than $50 let alone the $60+ that 'other' next gen games cost. *edit* ssx is all i played for ages and ages... until jak and daxter and final fantasy, i think. lucky i still had my dreamcast!
  17. shaddap!!!
  18. what do you mean launch party? standing in a queue on oxford street with a load of smelly chavs?
  19. the most beautiful console ever made?
  20. alternatively, they could just make the game on easy hardware with a familiar environment.... like the rev, for instance.
  21. thats absolutely fine... but i bet metroid is going to be a million times better than any ported fps. especially as we now know that retro came up with the idea of adding the control stick add on to the FHC.
  22. thats ridiculous considering we now know it's barely more powerful than the 360 is.
  23. well they managed it with the DS lite... it's be easy for nintendo to do seeing as, unlike microsoft, they manaufacture the machines themselves and hence have a better control of their supply chain. 1 million was way way way too short though. and MS acknowledge that they didn;t get the numbers anywhere near right.
  24. mindless ports are not going to make the rev popular... if i was going to buy just the same old games on the ps3 with worse graphics... i'd keep my ps2! the fact the rev doesn't support HD means the little resource sharing is going to happen anyway. also the rev SDK is many, many, times cheaper than even the psp, let alone a PS3 devkit with a full license for UE3. so it's very attractive investment from the off anyway.
  25. i didn;t mean the know-nothing sweat-stinking gcse-failing staff in store. but the buyers and higher up planners who have to justify losses and giving space to products.
