Nonsense.... you are not settling for less. you are settling for New, Different, and FUN. i would trade new ways to play and new things to play for the HD output of the Xbox and Ps3 anyday. having had a 360 and HDTV i can safely say that the HD era is overated. and that high res version of the same old dtuff doesn't feel in any way 'new' also.... not having to use huge amount of memory and power toiling over high-def resolution means the rev doesn't need tons of power to deliver good visuals. i think nintendos stratey is going to pay off big time - and no ones stopping you getting a PS3 if cutting edge tech is what you want. also... gamecube RE4 is still one of best looking games ever... on any format - any machine that can provide 3 times that level of visual output is good news - and easily on a par with what the letdown 360 produces.

what i want from e3?: full and final revolution details - with sony confiriming a worldwide release nintendo have to give at least dates and (hopefully) price. all the confirmed franchise games - zelda, metroid, smash bros, etc to be playable some new in-house titles - again playable some good original titles from the likes of sega and capcom and, finally, for mario 128 to make up for the mild let-down of Sunshine. thats my simple list of wants... bonuses would be: full-on support from Square-enix Revolution really stealing the show from Sony (possible is the software is good enough) confirmation of a MMORPG in the vain of Phantasy star online for the wifi service - or even PSO for the DS itself. Other companies stuff: Heavenly Sword on PS3 - intriguiged but what was on display in the gdc 'demo' was way way way behing the e3 trailer from last year whatever gets shown on halo 3 thats pretty much it... my interest in what sony and microsoft are showing falls way behind how excited i am about the Rev. I really think this years E3 is going to be amazing - all three big names are going to go for broke.

no they won't.... online distribution of full disc-based media is not in nintendos current plan - the storage included with the machine (512mb of flash mem) is WAY too small to hold all but the most basic games. it is, however, plenty big enough to hold a large number of 16bit titles and thats where nintendos see's it's online distribution.

using the FHC for spore would be fantastic. lets hope eh!

i never was.... nintendo have never said it will be powerul as 360, let alone ps3. the size of the thing lets you know that.... and the low price = fantastic news. Nintendo could capture a massive share of the market without making the huge losses that sony and microsoft have to. i'm surpremely confident about the rev in a way i haven;t been about any new format in my 15years of being a console gamer.

Ultrajamie's Revolution thoughts (sold my 360)
ultrajamie replied to ultrajamie's topic in Nintendo Gaming
thats why i'm exicted about the revolution so much.... despite the high-res graphics on the 360.... well... the games are so same old same old. the mechanics are no different to what my xbox did. the thought of playing zelda with first person battles slashing my sword with the FHC and raising my shield with the trigger... and then playing the 3rd person sections with the stick and still being able to use the FHC for other functions.... well.... so me any xbox360 or ps3 game that comes close to that sort of innovation. pretty light shows or not. -
it surely means Iwata himself.
-
i think all territories this year too... my thinking is late summer in japan and the USA (before thanksgiving for sure) and maybe closer to xmas in europe. i think they will avoid being too close to the ps3 and will try to beat it to shops where they can - also getting it out by late summer should enable them to ramp up production by xmas and avoid the kind of shortages you might expect. however.... to do that, their plans with retaillers would have to be in place by now and you expect a few leaks from either retail or the distributors... like xbox 360 had last year.

http://gonintendo.com/?p=1733 hmmmm?
-
apparently so...
-
i reckon 150 max... esp as the 360 core pack is only 209
-
what i'm trying to say is that, apart from the controller <and that, of course, is a big 'but'>, the concept of cheap-easy-to-use-hardware-gets-high-support-and-innovative-games is exactly the same as the GC
-
NDA's or not the leaks of info point to little real activity. a stark contrast to ps3 - where publishers are also covered by strict NDA's anyway edge were able to say that publisher are splitting their resource roughly the same was as this generation... which means the majority only forsee 10-20% of their output being on revolution

i've noticed recently that a lot of websites seem to be saying that developers love the revolution. welll.... so what? developers loved the gamecube. it was easy and cheap to work on. just like the rev. however.... publishers did not like the cube because it made no money for tham and hence, regardless of how much devcos liked it, they would not fund the games. welll.... tell me any major publisher that is throwing it;s weight behind the rev? beyond one or two titles? hmmm. just a talking point really. what do you think?
-
shouldn't this just have gone in the thread we already have about the article?
-
i think this is almost a dead-cert to appear.... using the 'pointer' function of the controller. however... sega seem to be moving further and further away from being... well... decent. so my hopes are not high. just what is sonic team doing with sonic? sonic heroes - average to poor shadow the hedgehog - awful sonic riders - wtf?
-
agreed. developers seem to suggest that 3-5 times what gamecube can do is a better way to express the power of the machine. the numbers don;t mean much as the chips will have been refined in more ways than just the clock speed. why doesn;t any know that the only reason we talk about speed as an expression of processor power is because for year intel was too shite to do anything other than speed it's chips up and call them new. anyway... remember the snes ran at less than half the speed of the megadrive and that never stopped it being better in every respect. the revolution will have very very very pretty games. rest assured. it will not look like a ps3... but then the games won;t cost £50 - 60 and the machine won't be £400. fair trade if you ask me... especially as my 'powerful' psp gathers dust while my 'n64 quality' DS is never switched off.

Your revolution game wishlist and why....?
ultrajamie replied to ultrajamie's topic in Nintendo Gaming
sad but true... none of those games made anyone buy a gamecube really.... i'm hoping for a more even balance of franchises - but updated... and new titles. -
WILL NOT surely a bigger issue is that the FHC for the rev is integral to the machine and the hardware is designed for the input. using the FHC will not therefore result in huge decreases in the power availible to make games. there's a reason why all eye toy games are ropey party game efforts - the eye toy uses a huge chunk of ps2 power. not so with revolution. even if sony do steal some of nitendos ideas, their execution is likely to be power, then. also - sony have had the eye-toy out for years and they've hardly caused the sort of change you'd expect from such a fundamental change in usage or gameplay. also, thirdparties haven't had a clue what to do with it, resulting in tons of eye-toy play rip offs. finally ey-toy does not have any of the subtlety of the rev controller and WILL NOT provide anything like a comparable experience. The FHC can detect pitch, rotation, tilt, distance from the screen... etc etc etc. the eye toy can only dectect movement on a 2D 'plane' in front of the screen. sony may try to market it as being similar... but it will not work because the experienc eis fundamentally different.

in a word.... NO

oh and that cooking sim mentioned by nintendo ages ago. -
Most of the teams i'd like to see have been confirmed anyway. but Sonic Team, and a 'proper' square-enix game (not developed by Brownie brown like FFCC was).
