Kurtle Squad Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Musn't Monkey Ball Plus (?) be really crap on teh PS2??
Nintendork Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I think they were just compilation ports on the xbox and PS2. Heard they were equally good but had some minor control problems.. literally they were reviewed a few percent lower because of loading times. Standard procedure really.. the Cube is the home of Monkey Ball.
Kurtle Squad Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Yeah, but the PS2s sticks are crap, would that ruin the control of your lil monkeys??
Cube Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Monkey Ball Wii is just as hard, if not harder.. the problem is the Wii mote is not quite as accurate as using an analog stick. I think you mean that tilting your hand is not as accurate - not a problem with the Wii Remote (which is just too good at doing it's job). The main problem is going directly forwards.
flameboy Posted November 13, 2006 Author Posted November 13, 2006 yeah going forward would be harder as it doesnt have the gc pad analogue sticks notches so you know very well when you are goin straight forward. also think abit of problem is staying still cos the wiimote doesn't have a neutral postition so to speak, you have to keep the controller still.
The3rdChildren Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 They're launch games. To be honest you're lucky to get a single great game with a console launch, and we've got Zelda, so anything else is just a big fat bonus.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 The only bad Monkey Ball games are Adventure, Jr, Touch and Roll, Deluxe and 2. Just rehash the orignal, I don't want any of this bullshit. They're launch games. To be honest you're lucky to get a single great game with a console launch, and we've got Zelda, so anything else is just a big fat bonus. Damn right. Most console launch games are shite. To have something of Zelda's scope at launch is a miracle.
Nintendork Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 What because Zelda is good, and most launches only have one good game that automatically makes Monkey Ball less of a good game? Pfft. I say this launch has 2, debateably 3 classic games. Just as the GameCube launch had Rogue Squadron, Luigi's Mansion.. etc Not all of them will retain their value because of laws of scale economics.. but I imagine they'll still be highly respected in 3 years.
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 This is from the IGN preview of Monkey Balls: Banana Blitz is playing and looking so good that we've completely forgotten about that little adventure game with the monkeys in it -- what was it called again? Oh, it doesn't even matter. What matters is that players who loved the original Super Monkey Ball titles are going to do backflips over this Wii-enhanced sequel. Does this sound like a 6.5 game? I question EGMs credibility.
solitanze Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 http://www.ugo.com/ugo/html/article/?id=15974§ionId=2&page=1 ^-- 1ST Twilight Princess review.

Cube Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Thank you for not posting the score. Im not reading any reviews until after Ive finished the game. Gameplay: A Presentation: A- Overall: A Rubbish scoring system.
flameboy Posted November 13, 2006 Author Posted November 13, 2006 Gameplay: APresentation: A- Overall: A Rubbish scoring system. erm...think he didn't want the score posting. altho have to say it is rubbish system, why mark a game on gameplay and presentation and not anything else?
mcj metroid Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 it has no bloody score what the hell?that A system is bs! as for monkey ball getting a 6.5 bs also.Id bet anything that ign will give it a 8.5 or something

It got a 5/5
mcj metroid Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Makes more sense for you to post the score in spoiler tags than for people to click on the link and have a chance of seeing game spoilers. It got a 5/5 and i also disagree with that scoring system.should be a percentage, decimal or out of ten.
Nintendork Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 To be honest, you guys are getting far too much with the Zelda stuff. It's not going to take away anything? For me.. the game doesn't need reviews, I'll just buy it so I'm not gonna read them. But I still watch some of the videos.. this will only be my second Zelda so perhaps I'm kinda virgin to the predictability of Zelda. But really I am not that fussed about seeing a score or a few screenshots. When I saw FF8/9 screenshots in PlayStation magazine I went mental.. damn they're beautiful. Did it take away from the game in comparison to 7 which I saw no screenshots beforehand? Hell no. I don't think it's such a plot intensive game that there can be spoilers as such.
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Well screw it, I shouldnt expect people to not post review scores. On another note, I dont think Zelda will get a 100 score at sites with a 100 point system. No game will ever get that. Gamers have become too jaded for it to ever happen again.
Nintendork Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I think it'll get 98 at a peak.. some blogs will try and give it a perfect score just for attention and being different (as was the case with Electroplankton) EDGE might give it a 10.
Nintendork Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 ROFL 10/40. People would riot. I'd expect a typo like that from the fanboys at ONM. I'm suprised Wind Waker got 40/40.. I thought the slow down during intense battles was quite intolerable even for the nimble system. I'd knock off a point for that alone. Apparently it's not a problem in this game though.
flameboy Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 Reviews of Wii Sports and Trauma Centre are now on IGN. Wii Sports got 7.5, Trauma Centre 8. IGN reviews of Wii Sports (7.5) and Trauma Centre (8.0) are now up and running,
david.dakota Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I've thrown glasses, mugs and even kicked our shed in due to monkey ball. Do I look forward to doing all that again - you betcha!
