laura_inthesky Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Heya, I was wondering if its at all possible to play region 1 dvd's on a PC set up for Region 2? I've looked into it and all I can find is that you can change the dvd drive on your computer to a different region, but this can only be done 4-5 times and then it is stuck... I have 2 computers, should I just turn 1 into a region 1 player permenatly or is there a better way around this? Also whilst on the subject, does anyone know if PlayUSA ship to the UK?
The3rdChildren Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 A program called DVD Region Free will basically trick your DVD drive into thinking every disc is region free and play it. You can either buy DVD Region Free or go the illegal way and download it.
Bogbas Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Or just use VLC player it's legal and free. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Kurtle Squad Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Just get a multi region player:heh: I love mine
The3rdChildren Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Does VLC play DVD's? More importantly, does it play any region DVD?
Hero-of-Time Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 PlayUSA does ship to the uk as thats where I get all mine from. Im looking forward to watching Click on region 1 this week.

dabookerman Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 PlayUSA does ship to the uk as thats where I get all mine from. Im looking forward to watching Click on region 1 this week. Region 1 DVDs on almost everything Region 2, except for the 24 Dvd boxsets.
Rick Dangerous Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Cool, never knew you could do this with VLC. Does it work on the mac version too? (I dont have a region 1 dvd to test this out with atm)
Charlie Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Just realised that Jordan should have control of this thread.... Moved to tech.
Ollie Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Or if you can be bothered you could reburn your region 1 dvd's to region free using DVD shrink so that you can play them on anything, but I guess that's loads of hasstle, unless like me you prefer to watch DVD's in bed rather than on your computa.
