A load of effects from the original Star Trek are being redone with new CGI effects, and is getting remastered in High Definition

The new versions will not air in order, and will start with "Balance of Terror" on 16th September (in America)

That's pretty cool actually as long as the episodes stay the same.

I'm definitely going to watch them if they are broadcasted in Austria/Germany ever.

I only hope that the original versions aren't forgotten but some technically more advanced space fights wouldn't be too bad as they were very obviously limited back then.

Imagine the episode with the Romulan vessle in glorious CGI.

The Romulan one is going to be the first one shown.

  • 2 weeks later...

It looks like one of those old games that tried to be really high tech by filling itself with loads of bland cutscenes. After 40 years of models on strings, this just dosn't look right to me.

Well, just as long as they don't pull a Lucas and actually hide the the original versions away, I won't complain. The CG really isn't that great though.

Well that isnt from the revamp of the show, that video was done a few years ago as it says at the beginning. The guy doing it is just really talented.

Yeah, I noticed that after I'd posted it, but couldn't be arsed to change it.

It's a good indication of what to expect from the real thing though which, if anything, should look even better than this.

I have managed to find a trailer for the 'new' series in the meantime though.
