triforce_keeper Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Hi guys Im buying a new pc sometime soon and wanted a laptop so I can take it in my room, and to my dads. I want a laptop thats powerful enough to run some of the vista games that are coming out. I dont have a clue about graphics cards and sound cards etc so I wondered if you guys could find me a decent laptop and configure to my liking? Thnx in advance. P.S ive heard alienware are good for games please could you try to look around there? (i like there laptops :p )
Sanchez Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Wait. It's to early to get a laptop if you want to play "vista games". Alienware are overpriced, but do make some powerful laptops. Also, its their laptops, not there.
triforce_keeper Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 what do you mean also its their laptops, not there? and why is it too early to play them? I mean when they come out obviously!
Shorty Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 what do you mean also its their laptops, not there? and why is it too early to play them? I mean when they come out obviously! I can help with the first part, he was correcting your spelling.
Bluejay Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 what do you mean also its their laptops, not there? Their is possesive, i.e their onions. So it would be their laptops. EDIT: Too late.
triforce_keeper Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 yes ok thankyou for my grammer lesson lol can we go onto the laptop now please?
mario114 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I think he's point is, your'll have to wait untill vista (Windows vista operating system) is out to play vista games. As for guide lines you'll want at least a 60GB hard-drive, probaly at least 512 (1 gig would be better) dd ram, and something around 2 Ghz. Depending on whats games you want to play and your budget, you could go for a system with a cheaper graphics card, say a ati9800, or go for somehting a better, like there new x1000 series.
triforce_keeper Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 do you know when vista is coming out? I will wait till then if its not that far away then. mario114 could you find a laptop similer (bad spelling) to your specifi cations please? Because im no good at that sort of stuff. lol
mario114 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Windows vista will get a broad consumer launch around jan 07. I found this, it isn't cheap, but it's specs are good, and it's better than anything pc world have to offer: http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/inspn_9400?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs 1.8 Ghz 1024 MB ram radeon x1400 , with 256MB For £939 But you were right alienware are good, for about the same pirce your get a better machine from them, check: http://www.alienware.co.uk/product_pages/notebook_all_default.aspx Alienware have some good laptops, there not cheap, but there specs are very good.

The fish Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 How much is it? if it's <£1200, then hell yes, get it. I would go for an ATI X850 personally, but if thats a pre-built unchangable package, and it comes with a moniter, keyboard, and mouse, go for it.
triforce_keeper Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 the fish thats a laptop......and fieldsofanfieldroad thats WAY over my budget, configuring stuff to my wants on the macbook pro would cost me around £2000 and I dont think my mom would let me take that much out of my savings account lol.

gaggle64 Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 In order to play the new generation of directX10 (Vista) games properly, you're gonna' need an a DirectX10 compatable card don't forget.
