I wish they wouldn't repeat games on the Treehouse. Given how most people can catch up on YouTube, its not like people miss out if they miss it live.

Same, but they usually do this every year; so it's not new here.

At least they're approaching SMM2 a different way this time around; kind of neat that they're showing off how the Invitational levels were built.  Also highlights how there's an appeal in just experimenting with how SMM2 works, which is cool for newcomers :)

They tend to show off different aspects of the game in each segment though. First one was more about playing, this is more about building. Luigi was single player yesterday and today multiplayer etc

I think there's part 2's of Astral Chain and Daemon X Machina incoming as well judging from YouTube titles.

Going by past history, we should be getting something newly announced today as well...

Could be tomorrow, as part of the indie block, though; but historically speaking, it's usually the second day when they show off something that wasn't in the main Direct...

Do Nintendo still do their roundtable discussion on the Tuesday evening? I remember they used to reveal a few tidbits of info there in previous years.

All I want to see from Mario Maker now is the reveal of the final art style, surely they have to show it off at E3 - it's only two weeks away from release!

I think that'll be post-release...

DQ11S is pure witchcraft! It looks like an amazing port! (and the orchestrated music is just amazing!)

The new content looks very substantial too!

Ahh... 2D switching isn't seamless... Looks like the game treats it as an entirely different game/save file.  Interesting that 2D mode brings back random encounters!

Yeah they've added loads.

As I said in the DQXI thread, the maps in the 3DS version and PS4 version where a little different and some locations quite a bit different so I guess it makes sense the switch isn't seemless. You can see teh casino is down on the beach in 2D mode where it wasn't in the 3D version.

They weren't animated on 3DS, nor in the 2D DQ games (except DQ6).  So that's not unexpected.

You probably know I've been playing through DQIV-VI recently (literally playing DQVI now ) and the enemies have animations, both when they attack and while they are stationary. I've fired up DQIV just to make sure I wasn't crazy and yeah the enemies are animated.

I meant the original versions, not the DS/PS remakes (which were animated).  The original versions of DQ1-5 had no animations for the sprites (and this 2D mode is meant to evoke nostalgia for that era of DQ specifically).

Ah, I get ya. Its gonna be a massive downgrade for me coming off playing the DS games. :(

Astral Chain really does look great. Way more ambitious than I thought.

I've just realized Town wasn't shown during the Direct. Dunno why that just dawned on me. ::shrug: Game Freak are clearly too busy with peeing off their fanbase. :D

Treehouse focused on some Sword/Shield gameplay in between segments earlier. Made for painful watching seeing the exact same battle animations, same text pop up, same everything as every other Pokemon game.

I really like how Astral Chain is much more than a straightforward action game.  It actually mixes in some really cool police detective gameplay; and some really cool puzzle solving! It's actually really genre bending and pretty unique!

Really feels like a proper action adventure, rather than just stylish action.  That's awesome! And exactly the kind of game Switch desperately needs! Can't wait! :D

GOOD LORD THE COMBAT!!! THE BOSSES!!! EVERYTHING!! IT ALL LOOKS BONKERS AMAZING!! :bouncy:

Could be wrong but I don't think they've done that for a couple of years now. The last big midshow news was probably Samus Returns or Codename STEAM
