Dcubed Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 So... That just happened last night... The pound is in the toilet now and the country's future is uncertain at best. The U.K. is one of Nintendo's weakest markets generally. How much will prices skyrocket by? Will they even bother to release games here from this point onwards? Thoughts!
Nicktendo Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Nothing major will happen. Depending on what happens with the pound we may see a 5-10% price increase on Nintendo products. Generally though, it's probably nothing to worry about.
Ashley Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 If anything they'll just decentralise the NUK office to Germany more, but it's basically a skeleton as it is.
Mr_Master_X2 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Nothing much I'd say. It's not the doom and gloom most are exagerating it to. Somethings will be better, some will be worse...most temporarily. Both sides loved their fearmongering campaigns that it was just laughable. So many of the "vote leave means you're racist" LOL Are people REALLY that easily programmed/triggered? It'd be nice if we got stuff released quicker, which theoreticaly IS possible, but no doubt Nintendo will continue their many multi language EU version out of convenience. dazzybee Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Th3 best thing that can come out of it is we get games earlier as we don't need all the different langue options and get all us games that possibly wouldn't normally be released over here. At worst prices go up.

I don't think they're going to release any games in whatever language it is you speak though. Yeah those jokes are never going to get old
Hero-of-Time Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 During the shareholders meeting this morning one of the shareholders asked how the UK leaving the EU would effect Nintendo. From Gaf... Kimishima: Financial markets have become unstable. The appreciation of the yen's value leads to a devaluation of foreign currency assets. Also, for Nintendo UK, safety standards and specifications, such as regarding personal information, would change from EU to British standards. The Brexit is a very large wrench in Nintendo's plans to make profit on their console units thanks to the strengthened yen and they will have to see whether or not the yen evens out in their favor in the coming months.
Dcubed Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 The rising yen is a huge problem for them. It could well have turned their NX launch plans on its head from a profit maker on day one to now being a loss leader... Too late for them to make sweeping changes to the hardware now though.
