D_prOdigy Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Hey guys, E3 is fast approaching once again, and we at N-E Towers are finding ourselves a little light of hands this year, with various holidays and commitments whittling us down. The likes of myself and Josh, etc could probably sweat embryos in order to produce the output (as we do every year!) but we thought we may as well ask to see if anyone wants to help out over the few days in June. It'll basically just be things like writing up 'articles' and updating the database with new games and uploading screenshots - though beyond the important news which comes out at the start, the vast majority of the articles will then be 'new screenshots', 'new trailer' etc. I know some of you have helped out with the site before, and it's easier than ever to do everything since the fantastic redesign of the whole site by Shorty. Myself or Ashley will show you how to do everything, so the only 'qualification' you need is being able to write good English. It's all very simple. E3 this year is the week commencing Monday 10th June. With no main Nintendo conference, it may well be less hectic than previous years. However, we do know there will be Nintendo Directs, as well as smaller press briefings (we don't know if they'll be live-streamed yet) so there'll be plenty that'll need reporting. We're not expecting anyone who helps us to stay on as permanent staff or anything, but if anyone actually wants to, that'd be an awesome bonus for us. It's a superlative experience if you want a job in the industry (just ask Tphi who now works at Eurogamer!) If anyone's interested, then just drop myself or Ashley a PM any time. The more people who help out, the less everyone ends up doing, so it'd be hugely appreciated! Cheers A
Dcubed Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) Edit: Herp de derp, wrong thread I best keep my nose out of this thread from now on after that... Edited May 13, 2013 by Dcubed
Jamba Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Why wouldn't you? Actually going to be on my honeymoon in Japan... probably would end up getting a divorce if I did it anyway!
Rummy Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I will contemplate volunteering for this, but won't quite so so...yet. How much you reckon you're looking at per person?
Retro_Link Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Actually going to be on my honeymoon in Japan... probably would end up getting a divorce if I did it anyway! Thanks for that.
Ville Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I will contemplate volunteering for this, but won't quite so so...yet. How much you reckon you're looking at per person? A couple of words per day, probably. And if you can make a real sentence out of them, that's like super cool too.
Rummy Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 A couple of words per day, probably. And if you can make a real sentence out of them, that's like super cool too. Super cool? Super cool. (only reason I wouldn't is I don't wanna say I will then don't, but my life should be easing up at least a bit by then)
Jamba Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Thanks for that. It's ok mate. Did put it in totally on purpose to piss in your salad.
Ashley Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Actually going to be on my honeymoon in Japan... probably would end up getting a divorce if I did it anyway! I think Becky would be too busy in the Ghibli museum to notice. Anyway, I too won't be here (oops!) but, as Aaron said if anyone is interested get in touch (on here, email ([email protected]) or carrier pigeon).
Mr-Paul Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 E3 is fun but hectic. The news itself is usually relatively simple, usually it's just a matter of sharing it out/claiming a story, quickly taking notes, and hoping that one of the other guys caught a detail if you missed it! The most time consuming part actually seems to be uploading screenshots and adding new games to the database! It may be a bit easier this year without a massive press conference, but having plenty of people to help get it all up will make it a lot easier and more enjoyable for everyone
D_prOdigy Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 I will contemplate volunteering for this, but won't quite so so...yet. How much you reckon you're looking at per person? Nobody will be told they have to do X amount! It's a very utopian system of us all just going ahead and contributing if we've got a few minutes to spare. How it usually works around E3 is we all join one big staff Skype convo and whenever some big news is announced, someone will say "I've got that" and they'll just dip out to write up a quick article (you've all seen how... concise our news articles can be when they've been scribbled in the middle of a conference). With no main conference this year, that might not even be necessary. Mega staff chats are usually fun though! Anyway, I've already had a very kind offers from a handful of people. I'll get in touch with you all nearer the time once we've finalized who's on board!
