General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Convinced? They manufactured sub-standard products that would encounter an RROD and would force people to buy a new one or pay a repair - most people doing the former for the relative price difference. It's disgusting. As shit as they're doing, I can at least say in Nintendo's favour I've rarely/never had to repair a console; and when I have I haven't paid a penny in the whole affair.

Just saying Nintendo wouldnt even accept responsibility for the 3DS top screen scratching issue and even then were still producing 3DS's with the same design fault.

I would say 1k is a number you pulled out of your arse

Really. How many sales of a game do you think it takes to reach #40?

The games bombed big time just like others have before it.

More worrying is its the #1 selling Wii u title for the week and still didnt chart so the total software sales on a weekly basis for the platform must be crazy low.

Yeah this is a bit annoying tbh, BUT one big difference with is is that it won't force you to buy a new console/neccessarily render the 3DS unusable. They won't fess up due to the floodgates it'll open, but as I said - they've still been great on repairs otherwise. Turnaround within a week or two, giving another year's warranty, they're still better than the others I'd say.

Lol, why so fast? Was it really that bad or you got an profit on the trade in?

It was really that bad. Some of the games were horrendous and felt really tacky, kinda like cheap iOS games.

I'm quite shocked Nintendo released this. Usually their games are of a high standard, but this felt rushed, despite it releasing 7 months after launch.

I contemplated an XL at one point, but I feel it's just over the margin of size for portability/carrying around all the time. Marcamillian just bought a 3DS for AC and he went with an original model too, can't recall his reasoning though. For me I prefer its sharper screen and size, though. Feels a bit more like what I want from a console too, if that makes any sense lol.

Yeah I agree Rummy. I had an XL before I bought my Peach 3ds and I liked it but as I mentioned at the time in 3ds console thread, it didn't feel as premium as the original.

Looks like there are still people buying the original model anyway then which is good to see. I knew it would be still selling but didn't expect the numbers to be as much as they are which is cool!

The Last Of Us continues to impress.

Fastest Selling New Software Title in the History of PlayStation®3, and Fastest Selling PlayStation®3 Title of 2013

TOKYO, July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) today announced that the global sales of The Last of Us exceeded 3.4 million units(*1) as of July 3rd. This remarkable sales figure was achieved in less than 3 weeks since the global launch on June 14(th) . The PlayStation®3 (PS3®) exclusive title -- released to universal critical acclaim -- has surpassed all sales expectations to become the fastest-selling PS3 title of 2013(*2) .

The Last of Us delivers an evocative journey of survival in a world radically transformed, twenty years after a virulent pandemic of the cordyceps fungus has ravaged the human population. The rich story provides a realistic experience that explores the depths of humanity through main characters Joel and Ellie. Their journey is rife with emotionally charged moments as the narrative centers on themes of survival, loyalty, love and redemption.

"These sales figures are a testament to the blockbuster quality of The Last of Us," said Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios. "The teams at Naughty Dog are true visionaries and their storytelling capabilities are second to none, this title is an undisputed demonstration of that. SCE continues to be committed to delivering unique gameplay experiences that redefine the interactive entertainment industry and The Last of Us is a perfect example."

*1 Including both Blu-ray disc sell-in number and download version

*2 As of July 3(rd)

I'm so pleased that this is finding the success it deserves. Truly a unique gaming experience and it's great to see many other gamers are sharing this experience as well.

GameStop stops taking PS4 pre-orders

I guess pre-orders are pretty relevant to the thread. All the signs are good, especially considering Sony's allotments per store are pretty big. Looks like they're going to hit the ground running.

Not surprising given the great buzz it has at the moment. I'm actually looking forward to see how well this and the XBOne sells when released at the end of the year. Even more so if they release the same time as the Wii U did.
