Captain Falcon Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Thank you. I love the series, even though I've never played a game of it in my life. I hope that one day, we'll see a massive compilation for it on a console that I own. Isn't some sort of compilation coming out now because of the 25th Anniversary? There is the HD collection on the Xbox and PS3 that contains 3 games (MGS2, MGS3 and Peace Walker). It's also on the Vita but it only contains MGS2 and 3 - I think you can already download Peace Walker from the PSN store so they left it out. They use the Subsistance version of MGS3 which contains the original two MSX Metal Gear games.
Nolan Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 So the kid, are we to presume that's "Jack" or just some random child? It cooould be Jack, but wasn't Jack "Recruited" by Solidus/George Sears? As for to the whole Snake thing... Naked Snake is the original, trained by The Boss whom he kills. He goes on to create a Mercenary force, and eventually is put in charge of Foxhound while simultaneously running Outer Heaven as Big Boss, where he is actually in charge of Solid Snake. Solid snake has the Recessive genes (As evident by his brown hair....good jorb Kojima). Liquid his twin brother has the dominant genes (Blonde hair....yep.) Solidus was a exact clone of Big Boss created separately from the other two. The other two were actually in a batch of 8, but 6 were aborted so they'd grow faster. The clones genes are actually programmed to age exponentially as sort of a self destruct, nothing to do with Big Boss already being old. Solidus was made to age even faster than Solid Snake so he could become president sooner. Raiden was also called Snake for a brief moment when Kojima was trolling his fans.

Aha, thanks for that education but I could have sworn that they were old before their time because of a side effect of Big Boss' genes as I remember hearing that and thinking it was a load of substantial bull that was just too hard to shove along with the rest that had to be ignored. Also I clearly wasn't paying attention in MGS2 I also hated the bit about the recessive and dominant genes as liquid was lead to believe that he had the recessive ones while solid had the dominant ones, and that recessive genes are supposed to be inferior, which when you take things such as hair colour into account, becomes quite meaningless. I get the whole survival of the fittest aspect but what a convoluted and ultimately incorrect way to express.
Nolan Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Nobody was paying attention to MGS2. I still haven't fully watched the ending...
Captain Falcon Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 It cooould be Jack, but wasn't Jack "Recruited" by Solidus/George Sears? Yep, totally forgot about that. It was just when he called him a soldier, that it got me thinking. Just seemed really odd to have thrown a child in and use a line like that if it didn't mean something more. The Metal Gear wiki page, and I have no idea how reliable it is, actually said that XOF existed in the late 70s, my post is wrong on the other page, but that means there is no reason why this couldn't be mid 80s, like I initially thought, making the child a good fit age wise. It just seems like one of those things that wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be true.
jayseven Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I've read that the kid could be Chico from Peacewalker or maybe even one of the clones, though less likely.
Shorty Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I saw those videos at the weekend and I have to say, I was very impressed... until the gameplay kicked in and then it we saw a level of animation no more advanced than what the PS2 MGS games demonstrated, even if it did look incredibly slick. Although the animation didn't improve, I thought it was pretty damn amazing that it fluidly went from what I thought was non in-game engine to the gameplay. I've owned MGS4 for about 2 years and haven't gotten very far in it, maybe it's time to give it another go....
Dante Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 The full trailer version with gameplay footage, MGS:GZ is a sequel to MGS:PW and a prologue to MGS5. (MG1 remake?) Also this game isnt Project Ogre.
Captain Falcon Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I've read that the kid could be Chico from Peacewalker or maybe even one of the clones' date=' though less likely.[/quote'] I've not played Peacewalker but having now had a read though of the details, that scenario looks far more likely (especially the similarity with the character)... though I liked my conspiracy better :p

Don't ruin the game (and the rest of the series - yes the ending retroactively ruins the entire series) for yourself!
Nolan Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Naaah MGS4's ending doesn't ruin it all. I mean, it's kinda crappy and the original ending would have been more fitting, but nothing could ruin MGS3 for me. You are right though....the best part of MGS4 is literally the first 2 acts...and a segment of Act 4. Sadly Act's 3 and 4 both feel so short and rushed...they didn't have enough time to finish them like MGS2. Still turned out better... What I do recommend though is These guys, they do a fantastic LP of the entire series (Including Metal Gear 1&2) That's the best way to enjoy 4, or just watch an entertaining refresher on the games.
canand Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Cool this games looks great I hope it comes out for Wii U and what's a prologue?
