I'm thinking of finally getting round to buying a 3DS due my moving to Canada I am going to import one in all likely hood so that it doesn't mean importing games from Europe for the rest of my life for it. So if you were to buy two games on 3DS that would last a while and make the purchase worthwhile which two would you get?

At the moment I'm thinking Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, I did consider getting Zelda but then have played it so many times its perhaps not a priority.

Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land were the 2 games i picked up with the 3DS, both have yet to fail to entertain myself and have great replay value to them. I'd recommend them to anyone.

When you say last a while, do you want games with plenty of replay value or games that have a long campaign?

I'm playing through Mario Land right now and as much fun as it is, long, it is not - I'd say it's only half as long as Galaxy 2. There is replay in going through it again because the levels are a joy but jI'm not sure if that's what you are looking for when you say lasting a while.

It's difficult to deny that Tales of the Abyss is proving a long game but a) you may have already played it on the PS2, and b) it's not out in NA yet so it depends when you are going.

Multiplayer games offer an inherent replay value, assuming they are good and you have someone to play with, so if you like Mario Kart and have access to online, well, you won't need another racing game for as long as your 3DS works (or until they bring out an F-Zero but what are the chances of that).

If you like Advance Wars/Fire Emblem games, then I'll save Welshy a post and bring Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars to your attention. A surprisingly good turn based strategy game with a lengthy single player hidden amongst Ubisoft's launch day portfest.

If you like fighting games, then DoA or SSF4 should keep you happy for a while - I've put 100 hours into the latter.

Thanks for the suggestions. Not really interested in Tales of Abyss to be honest... I'm planing on going Summer time. Going to import online I think...although its weird when you look at the $ prices online then add tax on top there isn't much difference in cost when compared to how much it would cost to get someone to buy them here and then post them...

I think Captain Falcon made some good points, but I would definitely suggest Super Mario 3D Land; It's short but so DAMN sweet! the best game on the 3DS imo. 2nd game to buy is tough, there's a pretty good choice. MK7, the two remakes in Zelda & Starfox, the two Fighters; DOA & SSFIV, or if you're a Resi fan then you could wait for Revelations (2 weeks & 6 days). and of course if you're going to make any eshop purchases you should download PullBlox/Pushmo and perhaps Zen Pinball.

hmmm.

my two choices would be SM3DL & MK7 & OoT...

:)

Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land are probably the best original 3DS games currently out.

Although this time next week I'll probably be recommending Resident Evil Revelations.

It would be a shame to miss OOT 3D, but if you think you'll fly through it all to quickly then maybe not.

Having just started SM3DL, that seems great.

I'd also give Pilotwings a look as completing it 100% will take you some time.

@flameboy I'm selling my pretty much brand new copy of Starfox 64 3D as well if you're interested.

You can't go wrong with those two games to be honest; though there are a batch of games around a tenner I'd recommend too; but they're great games. And I personally don't think 3D land is that short. The main quest is, but the second half is as long; plus if you're into it getting all the coins and flags; hours and hours to be spent with it. Mario kart is mario kart; incredible though; if you like the series and will play online - no brainer!!

Hard to choose just 2 games, so any of the following should keep you busy for a while.

First Party games :- Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Ocarina of Time 3D.

Cheap third party games :- Ridge Racer 3D, Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, LEGO Pirates of the Carribean, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars, Street Fighter 4, Dead or Alive Dimensions.

E-shop suggestions :- Zen Pinball (£4.50), Pullblox (£5.40).

I do think SM3DL is a must own!

Take that comment about Choze back immediately. :p

Haha, I said it to wind you up :) Didn't work dammit!

You didn't like any other titles then?

I have enjoyed;

Lylatwars

Steel Diver

Super Pokemon Rumble.

In fact I've just thought of Pullblox. Thats a must have. I'd say SM3DL and Pullblox. MK7 is good/great/really great....but it is more of the same and it gets a bit "....", like there is only so much you can do. With such a large element of randomness, it doesn't have the fun attached with other games.

I'm just down on the 3DS as there is virtually nothing announced for it I'm interested in.

Wheres the original games? Where are the Kirbys, the Marios, the Advance Wars, the F-Zeros. Etc etc.

You should play Pilotwings Rez and if you like Advance Wars, try the highly rated Ghost Recon!

Resident Evil is a HUGELY big title out next week, but I guess that's not your type of game.

Those games you listed aren't really original, like Mario Kart they'd also just be more of the same, but Fire Emblem, Paper Mario, Mario Tennis, Luigi's Mansion etc... are nevertheless on their way.

They'll come in time. Well, except Mario, we've just had one of them. I guess it does depend on what you're into but I always imagined you were into anything, haven't you got something like 18 thousand DS games?! Res Evil, Kid Icarus, Luigis Mansion, none of these games appeal? I'm sure E3 will give us loads more!

Troll alert!! Getting more like Choze by the day!

What games have you actually played? And you don't think 3D land is a must own?! Interesting.

Don't worry, once a new mainline pokemon game comes out, Rez will be dry humping the 3DS 24/7.

Perhaps he wants to wait and see if Nintendo decide on making a full Pilotwings game?

For me it's Lylat Wars 3D and Super Mario 3D Land.

Or if you want to go for two original games then it's 3D Land and Mariokart 7.

For me, there are only four decent games at the moment anyway, the fourth being Ocarina of Time.
