Happenstance Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Just started watching the second season dvd again so thought id make a thread. I think a few of us have discussed this before in other threads but this show for me had the best depiction of John Connor in it. None of the movies for me really showed why this guy would be the leader of the resistance or why everyone would follow him but I think the journey the character took in just two seasons on this show really started to show that. The worst John Connor I would say would be Bale from Salvation. That movie didnt show at all why people were following him or disobeying orders, it just had them do it without question. Plus Summer Glau of course was very hot :p
Happenstance Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 This article is a few months old but Dekker does say that there is still a possibility for a dvd movie http://ifmagazine.com/new.asp?article=9526
Paj! Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 A great TV show. RIP. Fuck you Dollhouse. You weren't worth this going. I'm still clapping at the fact Shirley Manson was randomly in it.
chairdriver Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I'm still clapping at the fact Shirley Manson was randomly in it. It's not that random -- she does have a Terminator's face.
Daft Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 She really grew into the part. Thought she was crap at the beginning but by the end, ace.
Paj! Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 She has a really bad Scottish accent for acting, unfortunately. And so when she tried to act all cold and terminater-y, it just came across as awkward. Until she got a semblance of a life near the end.
Happenstance Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 You know id forgotten how funny Cameron was from time to time in this show.
Daft Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 "Goodbye Bird. There was a 51% chance I wouldn't kill you."
flameboy Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 amazing series, just wish they hadn't cancelled it! Would agree though the best depiction of John Connor by far and some of the twists and ideas they have beyond the simple terminator sent to kill John is really clever.
Ten10 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 This thread got my hopes up. Now I am filled with sadness. Regardless this was one of those series, that perhaps were a little above the heads of the general US populace resulting in falling ratings and finally being pulled. Shame really as the story ended in a place where it couldn't just be left like that, such as with something like fastforward.
Shorty Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Sigh, this thread. Talk about re-opening old wounds ;_;
Happenstance Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Well dont forget as I said earlier in the thread, there is a possibility of a dvd movie to tie up loose ends.
Daft Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I'd almost rather they didn't. It's a personally tragic ending left as it is.
Ashley Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 "Tie up loose ends" for a series about the destruction of mankind seems kind of like an oxymoron. The ending should have been bleak, even if the ending wasn't the planned ending.
Happenstance Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 You're an oxymoron! Anyway I meant plotpoints like John Henry, Cameron and John
Hamishmash Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 It was a great series. I loved all the dark humour with Cameron, I thought Sarah Connor's depiction was faithful and I started to love the scary, psycho-mum angle they took with Shirley Manson's character (eg. the bit when she was having a picture taken "An inch to the left?" :P hilarious)
Happenstance Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Just started listening to the commentaries and its so weird hearing Thomas Dekkers actual voice, its nothing like the one he uses in the show and hes suprisingly camp.
Paj! Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Lol, I'll check that out. I hardly ever watch commentaries unless it's a brilliant film/episode.
Happenstance Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Im a big fan of audio commentaries. Depending on whos talking they can be very interesting.
Cube Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Im a big fan of audio commentaries. Depending on whos talking they can be very interesting. All the Futurama ones are very interesting.
Happenstance Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Yeah the Futurama and Red Dwarf ones are probably my favourites
