Yeah very helpful cheers! I think I might buy the Wii version and rent the 360 one if/when my mates come round with their copies.

If you do get the Wii version you'll pretty much always have someone to game with... it's pretty certain that myself and Zechs will put some major time into the game!

I hope we get a good number of N-E'rs on the game. I'd love for an [N-E] Clan to dominate online! Haha

Josh Olin of Treyarch recently tweeted:

We'll reveal the Wii version of the game later this year, and the various nuances within. - Josh Olin, Treyarch

This suggests the Wii version will be getting a full reveal sometime soon, rather than the usual covert release that COD games enjoy on the Wii!

Sooner rather than later I hope, with gameplay vids!

What does he mean later this year? Isnt it out in little over a month?

Well, there are some rumours going around that its been delayed on the Wii, so that might explain the wording in the tweet. Even with World at War and MW:R there were screenshots and Wii specific info available by now. It doesn't look good really.

There have been rumours, but nothing confirmed so far. If there is a delay I think it may be down to Goldeneye, but I'd rather that was delayed as I'm looking forward to Black Ops a lot more. Anyway, we'll wait and see what develops over the next few days and weeks. Just over a month until release, so something will have to be revealed soon. I'm not too worried though as we also get the Wii info last!

Zombie mode is confirmed! We all knew it, well today it has been confirmed that Zombies will definetely be returning in Black Ops:

As for a delay of the Wii version, still heard nothing. It would surprise me if there was a delay as this year the Wii is getting a lot of extras including a headset and a special Black Ops controller.

Has anyone seen this headset available to pre-order from any website here in the UK or even the USA yet? Two and a half weeks to go and I want get my my pre-order in, dammit!

Also, after doing some reading, it would seem the reason behind not being shown any Wii/PS3 screenshots or trailers of Black Ops is because Microsoft have an exclusive deal with Activision where only 360 images and footage can be shown to the general public before the game's release.

All killstreaks and their effects:

Also, ONM article on Black Ops and the lack of Wii footage:

Call Of Duty: Black Ops is gonna "blow you away," Those were the words of Mark Lamia, studio head of Treyarch, They were also the last words we heard uttered about the Wii version of Call Of Duty: Black Ops.

Since then, to use the words of Blackpool manager Ian Holloway, we've heard bo diddley squat about what has the potential to be one of the biggest Wii releases of the year. No trailers, no screenshots, nothing...

Which is strange when you consider that Lamia also told us that the Call Of Duty series has a huge online fanbase on the Wii and that his studio were aiming to produce a game that the fans won't believe is running on Wii.

Will you be able to believe it's running on Wii? It looks like you'll have to wait until 9 November to find out as we'd be stunned if a trailer for the Wii version was released before the game's release date.

So it's strange but should we be surprised? After all, it was a similar story with Modern Warfare. After being told it would be released for Wii last year, we didn't see the game running until a video leaked a few days before the game's release. At least, some screenshots were released...

Checking back through our news archive, it seems it was a similar deal with Call Of Duty: World At War. A few screenshots but once again, no trailer,

Meanwhile, those who are considering buying Call Of Duty: Black Ops on other consoles have been treated to hands-on playtests, trailers, screenshots and zombies.

Nintendo fans have had some screenshots of the DS version and news of a headset (from PDP) that players will be able to use in order to chat to fellow gamers when playing the Wii version online but that's about it.

So the question is why? We've come to expect that we won't receive advance review copies of all games, but that usually happens when the game is poor. Even if you brush aside Lamia's claim that Black Ops Wii will blow you away as hype, it is unlikely to be poor.

After all, Treyarch has already produced three Call Of Duty games for Wii and all have been very good. First up was the Wii launch game Call Of Duty 3 which was an excellent game, only marred by the lack of multi-player action. World At War made up for it by including an multiplayer mode, and while Modern Warfare was arguably released two years too late it was still a fun blast.

You won't find many better first-person shooters on the Wii than the Call Of Duty series. We know it and you know it which is why many of you are looking forward to Black Ops and why it's such a shame that so little information has been shared about the game.

We're not naïve. We know that Call Of Duty: Black Ops will have better visuals on HD consoles. We also understand that Activision want to show off the game in its best light which is probably why the company choose not to show off the Wii version on TV adverts.

It's likely Activision don't want any negative reaction to their game which is why gameplay footage of the Wii version isn't shown off as the company doesn't want people to compare it with the other versions. Yet, Nintendo fans would love to read about the game and see a trailer or, at the very least, some screenshots on a Nintendo website like ours.

As it happens, we'd imagine that quite a few people will buy Call Of Duty: Black Ops for Wii regardless and we can only be thankful that Nintendo fans will be getting it at the same time as everyone else this time.

Regarding the 360 versions, I never played Cod 3 but World at War was awesome! I don't get how you say it was terrible?!

Anyhoo, going off Modern Warfare Reflex, I imagine Black Ops to be great!

Yeh, I have to agree. World at War was awesome (I played the 360 version) and damn hard on Veteran.

I don't want to imagine what Veteran mode was like on it. I had to give up on level 5(ish) on normal mode. I admit that it gives a good feeling of WW2, with hundreds of deaths that are come our of nowhere and are unavoidable.

It absolutely suck in Veteran... like ridiculously hard. But on Hardened or below, it's awesome. Though I didn't really like the US part of the campaign to be honest. The Soviet campaing was fantastic!

I have never played COD3 on any platform so I can't comment on that one. I have played WAW extensively on the Wii though and quite a bit on the 360. I loved it! It was difficult in the single player and I can't imagine playing through it on veteran.

I found the multiplayer maps on WAW to be absolutely brilliant and Asylum, Dome, Upheavel and Castle were inspired!

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM TREYARCH ON Wii VERSION:

We’re very excited to bring you this Exclusive Interview with Anna Donlon, Senior Producer on Call of Duty: Black Ops for the Wii. She has some great information to share, including details about Wii Multiplayer and Online Co-Op!

Q: What has your role been in the development of Call of Duty: Black Ops?

I am the Senior Producer for Call of Duty: Black Ops on the Wii.

I’m responsible for managing the Call of Duty Wii projects developed at Treyarch. After joining the studio in 2005, I moved onto the Call of Duty Wii team at the start of Modern Warfare: Reflex and have been working with the same dedicated developers ever since.

One thing I love about working at Treyarch is the commitment that the studio has had to the Wii platform. We have a dedicated team that works on Black Ops, and it is our goal to create the best Wii FPS experience possible.

Developing a game as big as Black Ops, while staying as close to the source material as possible is complex and challenging, Our community has come to expect a full and robust Call of Duty experience on the Wii, and to stray from that would be a disservice to them.

During the project, we spend a lot of time figuring out what the Wii player wants out of their game. And each year, we up the ante. We push ourselves and we push the engine to its limits. And then when that’s done... we push a little more.

Q: So, why should the Wii players be excited for Black Ops on the Wii?

Well, let’s start with the basics. We’re giving the fans the full single-player storyline, with huge maps and an amazing story that I think will really blow them away. We’re also back with 5v5 multiplayer, all maps and all game modes, including the newly introduced Wager Matches and Contracts.

But, like I said, we pushed things a little harder this year, and can now confirm that the Wii version will have online Co-Op. We’re doing this through Black Ops’ new Combat Training mode and of course... ZOMBIES. That’s right, 4-player Co-Op Zombies will have its debut on the Wii this year.

There was one day on the project where we were playing Zombies and I was yelling at my Associate Producer, Aaron Roseman, from down the hallway to come Revive me (which I’m sad to admit he has to do quite often). It quickly became clear, as we screamed back and forth at each other, that we had to have headset support for all of our online modes. That’s why the introduction of the Headbanger Headset to this game is so exciting to us. It really takes the online experience in both Multiplayer and Zombies to the next level on the Wii.

And then there’s the Classic Controller Pro. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing the game with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, especially after I customize the controls to my heart’s content. But once we started supporting the Classic Controller Pro, I was hooked. Now I find myself switching back and forth between the two depending on my mood and what game mode I’m playing.

There’s a bunch of other new features that we developed this year as well. We’ve created a new "Allies" system that allows you to invite recent players to be your allies for text messaging, game invites and more without a need for code exchanges. We have more player customization in Create a Class than ever before and we have enhanced party privacy options for players who want to set up their private matches with a little more control over who they allow in.

Q: What’s been your most memorable experience in the months leading to launch?

There was an evening we were at work pretty late and four of us decided to jump into a Zombies match, headsets and all. We were all pretty tired, and ready to go home, but after a few rounds, we couldn’t put it down. Out of nowhere, I hear Matt Kimberling (Technical Director on the Wii) yell out, "The Wii players are gonna freakin’ love this!" And we all knew he was right. It was the missing piece of the puzzle on the Wii, and an accomplishment we’re all pretty proud of.

Q: Anything in particular you’d like to say to all the Call of Duty Wii fans out there?

The game is awesome on the Wii. We made it for you guys. Enjoy it! And I’ll see you online!
