Mundi Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 How rare are eridian weaponry? So far I´ve reached level 32 while playing with a friend and a grand total of one of them have popped for us. Ti's an awesome I might add, it shoots lightning. Quick question, does anyone know if you can only upgrade elemental artefacts to level two? I found a fire one, for the right class, which says "you cannot use this item now" when I try to use it. The artifacts don't say which level they are, so the only way too see how good it is you need to look at the level requirement. level one: 10 Level two: 20 Level three: 26 Dunno about higher then that.
Shorty Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Ah right, thanks I think the one I was trying to use was lvl 22 so that makes sense.
drahkon Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Reached level 30 (or 31) with my hunter. Gonna do some quests in a few minutes and hope I will level up a bit in the next 2 or 3 hours (I got time to play, hurray )
dwarf Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Completed this a few hours ago. Shit ending, there wasn't really a story to it all, just seemed like a bit of an easy way to make the game have some form of narrative. Disappointing, but oh well. Hopefully will get the platinum sometime soon. One trophy is to kill one of the bosses in co-op which i havent done, so I wouldn't mind joining Daft or someone that is yet to kill the Rakk Hive boss for that. Got to level up 14 more times though... Will try and power level that somehow.
Goafer Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Has the crap online service worked itself out yet? I played last night with a full game of people and only got minor lag. Was I just lucky or is it fixed?
dwarf Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 You probably got lucky. I just played with Daft and it was pretty poor.
Daft Posted November 15, 2009 Author Posted November 15, 2009 It's bollocks whenever I play with dwarf. It was fine with Goafer until the last time and basically since then it's bin shitty.
Bren Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Got to level up 14 more times though... Will try and power level that somehow. Youll fly up levels on the 2nd playthrough, its so good for xp. Im wishin i hadnt sold this now, the first DLC is out next week, and i want it :'(
Shorty Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 (edited) Heh, heh, that'll learn ya. You should become a pack rat, like me, and never get rid of anything! I hadn't heard about the DLC though! Gah, and I hadn't even got a chance to finish the main campaign yet - although I don't think we're far off now. It's a bit too soon actually... suggests that the content is probably on the disk already, and they just wanted to squeeze some more cash out of us -_- Level 34 and still haven't found a really good Sniper rifle. Found an orange rarity shotgun and revolver, both of which were actually pretty average :/ Just unlocked the multiple bloodwings skill though level 3 acid bloodwing vs. armoured enemies = winnar. Im wishin i hadnt sold this now, the first DLC is out next week, and i want it :'( I reckon the Borderlands DLC will be a pile of shit, so I'm not bothering. Maybe if they did something drastic with the environment and added some insane eridian weapons then yeah, but it just seems a bit half-assed with what's been displayed. I'm not going to bother to go through the campaign again, it's not worth it because there aren't exactly memorable missions, rather just hide behind a level 50 and pummel the xp earnings. And @ Shorty, with the red weapon boxes I found them to be very disappointing from level 28 onwards. Nothing cool came out of them and they all had weapons for levels 15 and below that were worth nothing. Pissed me off, I stuck with a level 19 sniper up until level 34 because the accuracy of it hadn't been bested and it still did a nice amount of damage. Was a Rolling Sniper I think, now I have this Electric one that only has a 3 bullet clip but its majorly rewarding to use. (apologies for poorly constructed post) Edited November 16, 2009 by dwarf
Daft Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 The DLC looks ace. Kind of reminds me of L4D and since that's too proving too expensive to buy I'll nab this instead.
Goafer Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Anyone with a PS3 fancy a game tonight? PSN ID is UKStumpy for anyone interested. Don't have a mic, but me and Daft have been communicating on the NE Chatroom private chat.
Goafer Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I'll join a bit later. I forgot that I have Colin to watch (The £45 zombie movie), so I'll watch that first then join at about 11ish if you're still on.
Daft Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 Na, not tonight. Feeling a bit knackered.
Goafer Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Ok cool. I imagine I'll be playing tomorrow as well if you're interested?
Daft Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 Don't think I can. It's my sister's birthday and we're seeing Dylan Moran. Rest of the week should be cool, but whenever. I've got CiT to play otherwise. Beware, Friday onward ACII!!

I guess I won't get to level 50 in the next week although that was what I was aiming for. Definitely gonna buy this.
dwarf Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) Just mopped up the alternative character trophies, 'all' I need to do now is get to level 50 for the platinum. Overall I'd give the game a 7.5/10 Ok I didn't properly experience co-op but I don't believe it's all what it's cracked up to be - i.e not significantly better to get more than a 0.2 higher in a review. I think the whole presentation side let it down, there were only 2 or 3 cutscenes, the NPCs didn't really interact and the narrative as a whole was pretty tame. Still, it had enjoyable shooting mechanics, and after just playing as the other classes, their powers seemed considerably funner. Edited November 17, 2009 by dwarf
Goafer Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Just hit 30 and rejiggered my points so that my sniper rifle shots always bypass shields. Rad.
dwarf Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Just hit 30 and rejiggered my points so that my sniper rifle shots always bypass shields. Rad. Yeah it's pretty badass having that. I'm level 40 and would have sold the game a few days ago had i not wanted to get the platinum. Just upgrading Bloodwing to give me health. Cex are taking this in for a trade of £29 in cash, according to their website. That's pretty impressive.

I've reeeally got to disagree with you there. This game was built to be played co-operatively. Take out the co-op and it's a boring, repetitive game. Each task is basically the same as the last in a new skin. Kill x, retrieve y, fight through z to reach y and kill x. It's similar to a typical MMO type game, you play missions over and over to find new weapons. The more people that play, the harder the enemies are and the rarer the weapon drops. Players have classes that compliment one another and aren't especially great on their own. One for damage, one for stealth, one for tanking, one for support. The only thing that makes it fun is when you're working together, figuring out how best to combine your different abilities to bring down an enemy, or sprinting out of your sniper spot and fending off enemies with a shotgun so you can bring your teammate back to life. If I had played this game single player (I haven't even bothered) I know I would've given it a 7.5/10 too, or less. But I've only played it co-op and its been awesome every time, easily a 9/10 game for me. Maybe it was important that I was playing splitscreen, not online with some faceless Live player. Someone who is levelling up parallel to you, sharing all the money and swapping guns constantly makes it a great shared gaming experience. Edited November 19, 2009 by Shorty
drahkon Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Splitscreen co-op would be better if the screen was split horzontically (now don't tell me you can set it up like that). At the moment I don't have the urge to play Borderlands (damn you Uncharted 2). Maybe that'll change when the DLC arrives.
Shorty Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Why would you want horizontal splitscreen these days? Now that our screens are nearly all about 16:9 size, you get much less squashed pictures having it vertical. Also the Borderlands splitscreen is particularly great, you move around the menus using the right stick rather than having them squashed or resized to fit. I haven't once felt hampered by only having half a screen. The last two games I played with Horizontal Split were Halo ODST and Resi 5, which both had extremely tiny images in order to make it fit at the same ratio. I couldn't enjoy either game because of how small the interface was.
dwarf Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Well I have hosted many games in co-op because that's the only real way to remove lag for myself but i will retain my earlier view. I just don't think it's that special.
