MoogleViper Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Ok so I'm going to a fancy dress party as mario. And I need a few pointers. Which of these dungarees would look better in your opinion(s); http://www2.westfalia.net/shops/textiles/work_clothes/trousers/dungarees/617045-jenslatzhose_verschiedene_groessen.htm http://nextday.diy.com/app/jsp/product/productPage.jsp?productId=88353 Also do you think this hat would dye red? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120420353847&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D%2509120420353847%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1 Similarly if you know of any better hat/dungarees then feel free to post. Or this hat and gloves; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SUPER-MARIO-HAT-AND-GLOVES-DRESS-UP-SET_W0QQitemZ130310675248QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAdult_Fancy_Dress_UK?hash=item1e571f1b30&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I prefer the first set of overalls, and I think the hat is awesome. I don't know if it will dye, though. I don't like the Mario hats and gloves posted. They try too much and thus look fake.
Raining_again Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 The hat probably wouldn't dye too well. Better to get a white one if j00 can.
DuD Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 What if you bleeched the hat and then dyed it. Just a suggestion... i've got no experience with dying stuff, so that more than likely wont work..?
Raining_again Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Dying it seems like an awful lot of work if you can buy a specific fancy dress mario hat on ebay... Too many things could go wrong.. Its a similar theory with hair dying really.
S.C.G Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 For the overalls I'd say go with the first pair, though the second pair seem a darker shade of blue which is more like Mario wears but they are both good, as for the hat I'd say go with the Hat and Gloves kit as they look reasonably good tbh and dying that other hat could go wrong...
MoogleViper Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 No Mario's are much lighter than that. It's Luigi's who are darker. What about http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Painters-Bib-and-Brace-Overalls-White-Navy-34-inches_W0QQitemZ360116858153QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_BOI_ProtectiveGear_RL?hash=item53d8a32d29&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A4|39%3A1|72%3A1683|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A200
Strider Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 At least your's are standard blue, i don't have a clue where i'm going to get purple ones for Wario from.
MoogleViper Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 At least your's are standard blue, i don't have a clue where i'm going to get purple ones for Wario from. Yeah but they are all really dark navy blue. I should have chosen Luigi.
EEVILMURRAY Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I prefer the darker ones, they look Brawl-esque. You could probably dye that hat with some food colouring. You've seen my Duffman costume non? That hat was a little lighter shade than the one on Ebay. The fingers on those gloves look tiny.
Paj! Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Talking of fancy dress, I need to rustle up my Hannah Montana costume. And one of those ear-microphones. The hands-free ones.
EEVILMURRAY Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 REPORT! How's it going. Don't go as Jabba the Hutt.
ReZourceman Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 TBF it makes a better penis costume. But no point in Moogle going to a fancy dress party as a cock........
EEVILMURRAY Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Jabba the Hutt in a Mario costume would be something special.
MoogleViper Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 I've got some white painter's bib and brace and some blue dye. I have a red t-shirt (short sleeved, couldn't find long unfortunately) and a red hat. Just need the gloves and some cheap brown shoes.
Strider Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Wario So far: Dyed Dungarees (same style as Moogle's, just purple) very pleased with the colour. I need the huge buttons sewing on though. Whie hat - needs dying Also need a yellow shirt, which will probably end up being a white shirt, dyed with the hat. Excuse my 'far away' look. Only thing i need are the gloves and logo.
Konfucius Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I've got some white painter's bib and brace and some blue dye. I have a red t-shirt (short sleeved, couldn't find long unfortunately) and a red hat. Just need the gloves and some cheap brown shoes. I also dressed up as Mario once, I got the gloves from a hardware store - maybe worth checking out. What are you doing about the moustache?
MoogleViper Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 I also dressed up as Mario once, I got the gloves from a hardware store - maybe worth checking out. What are you doing about the moustache? I got the gloves today. Some white leather ones from B&Q. Still not sure what to do about the tash. Worst comes to worse could make a card one I suppose. Although that may look shit and ruin the outfit. Anyone got any ideas?
EEVILMURRAY Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Some fancy dress shops sell fake 'staches. You could easily buy one and trim accordingly if needed.
MoogleViper Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Some fancy dress shops sell fake 'staches. You could easily buy one and trim accordingly if needed. Yeah I had one for my pirate costume. I did have a real tash. (You may remember it from meet, although it was much thicker and manlier since then. Although I got bored of it and shaved it off. Plus it was ginger.
EEVILMURRAY Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 You got time to grow another? Bit of black additive and job's a good 'un.
Konfucius Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 You got time to grow another? Bit of black additive and job's a good 'un. I did that for my Mario costume, worked great, although the moustache wasn't that thick it still had a nicely 3D looking effect and looked much better than a fake one. I actually used some dark graphite to colour it - easy to draw on the skin, isn't itchy and quickly washed off.
Letty Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Just throwing it in there, that hat would definetly dye red, very well. 100% cotton it says.
MoogleViper Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Where the fuck did you find a long sleeved shirt? I can't ignore it. You should smile, things could be worse; A woman could cut off your penis while you're sleeping, and toss it out the window of a moving car. I can't smile though.
Strider Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) Where the fuck did you find a long sleeved shirt? In Primark... where you work. (I dyed it with the hat) Edited June 12, 2009 by Strider
