Choze Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/937/937603p1.html From the makers of Ferrari Challenge. Which was pretty good actually and had tons of after support (much of which should have been in the first place). Will rent Ferrari again but the lack of other brands is offputting thankfully this fixes that. SuperCar Challenge – The Facts - Over 40 different cars ranging from the Lamborghini Murcielago RGT, to the Aston Martin DB9, to the McLaren F1, to our previous favourite the Ferrari FXX. - Over 20 tracks, from favourites such as Silverstone and Nurburgring to less well known greats such as Mugello Italy. - Trophy mode, Career mode (more details to be announced soon), Arcade mode, Quick Race and 16-player online/LAN multiplayer. - Ferrari Challenge’s praised livery creation tool has been taken and improved considerably. - Dynamic AI: rival drivers will get better or worse depending on how you race so you’ll always have a decent challenge going on around you. Of course, should you wish to have consistent AI you can switch this mode off. - Graphical overhaul: in terms of textures, poly counts, scenery, backdrops, particle effects and (perhaps most importantly) framerate, everything has been improved. - Improved sound: every engine rev, screech and impact has been tirelessly recorded and re-recorded on the field. Voiceovers and commentary from Tiff Needell!
Nolan Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Needs moar AA and better textures, but other than that looks pretty.
Choze Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Needs moar AA and better textures, but other than that looks pretty. GT has kind of ruined everything but this could be good in the wait. Plus its purely supercar based which some may like. I wonder what the next GT5P update will be?
Nolan Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I don't really like GT that much compared to most other games. Pretty or not. A supercar only game could definantly be interesting though, I mean the other sims start you off with crap but you still end up with the supercars. You're really just being jumped to the end of the game this way. The problem though, if they don't improve the graphics more review scores will take a hit, reviewers are callous that way. (similar really to how I'm nitpicking right now.)

The paint looks off but the car models are better than any non gt game pretty much already.

With multiple cards you can even get over 100fps. It does look good though I may check it out after release, or at least a demo. Although I'm not the biggest on racing games.

GRID was too brown and the models were nothing special, plus in the console versions the game has overuse of blur. GRID isnt that great as a game though. The handling was atrocious whether they decided it was a sim or arcade racer... Felt like the cars had only one wheel. The damage was also overdone. In online races you would be lucky to get off the starting line in one piece. Gameplay is one area Supercars wont be weak in. But its a serious sim racer which might offput afew people. Then again they say they will ease players in fromt he looks of the details.
Ramar Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Don't tell my brother about this game, please.

Blur is over done, but with good reason it helps to alleviate the fact that Grid is only 30fps instead of 60. I found the models to be quite beautiful also, especially considering that they come apart piece by piece. The handling is something to get use too, I liked it, but it's deffinantly inbetween sim and arcade. And the bit about online races with crashing at the line...well that just sounds like a shitty community. I remember in PGR3 people apologizing after crashes because no really wanted to be that mean to each other.....perhaps damage has something to do with it. Don't tell my brother about this game, please. O: Too late!!! j/k

O: Too late!!! j/k PGR3 isnt that bad at all with crashes as it doesnt write you off. In grid you cant race off the finishing line half the time. Its more of a design issue. Choze Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 http://shortlist.system3beta.com/ Get into the open beta. Its online.
MATtheHAT Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Aren't beta's usually done before a game is released?
flameboy Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 yeah lol...I posted that in the playstation thread a few days a go...It's not bad...Not sure I'd buy it though currently weighing up getting NFS Shift if GT5 doesn't make it to EU/UK before xmas...
Cube Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 When will developers (except the Forza ones) realise that cars get dirty?
Deathjam Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 After five mins I was extremely bored. Deleted off hard drive.
Choze Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 After five mins I was extremely bored. Deleted off hard drive. Yeah gonna do the same. The official website is littered with praises that its better than GT5 in every way lol. I am not feeling it at all. Also the whole concept of 'assists' is really dumb. Just kills the gameplay feel. I think GT is smart in that they use a standard and professional handling option rather than adding auto turning, brakes etc. The tracks they chose are hardcore. Cars are nice. 'Realistic damage' is laughable at best despite claims(as usual). Cars lack the road connected feel of GT5P. There is hardly any feel of suspension, bumps etc. Tracks are ugly. Lighting is too simple. Weather is a nice touch. At this stage its wise to just wait for GT5. Hearing NFS Shift isnt quite what was promised either.

More of a better than "return to form". Gametrailers gave it a 9.1 and generally, they tend to get it right for my tastes anyways. Will wait for GT5 though as I really want rallying in my driving game.
Domstercool Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 This game is still a good racing game, it's just totally for hardcore racers only. I picked it up from Asda for £25. I enjoyed their previous game too and this is an improvement over the Ferrari one. I can see why people wouldn't enjoy it though, it's not easy :P
