nekunando Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 For some reason, during work today I was thinking about Risk.. the board game. I remembered how much I enjoyed playing it with my friends when I was younger, rolling those dice in a tense battle for territory ..but today I thought about how we could have done things differently! If you've played the game, you'll understand that you take your army into an opposition territory and then roll a certain amount of dice to battle against the other army. Today I wondered why maybe we didn't have something like Soul Calibur on in the background and instead of doing the battle with dice, they take place as team battles on Soul Calibur! Sure, it would take forever to get a game done.. but it would be fun Anyway, the point is, it would be an option that wasn't part of the rules of the game. What I'm asking is if anyone else has played games alone or with friends differently that they were intended? Now, before you go thinking this should be in General Chit Chat (which you could probably build a strong case for ) I am referring to video games! Maybe you've played a game of Pro Evolution Soccer with a friend where you decide you are only allowed to score with a header.. or maybe you've played Mario Kart with teams of 2 where one player in each team is blindfolded (and in control) while the other has to tell them which way to go to reach the finish line! This may sound ridiculous, but I'm sure many of you have played Goldeneye back in the N64 era where you decided you could only use proximity mines to kill each other Does anyone else have any stories or ideas for different ways to play games?
Jonnas Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Right now I can only recall Timesplitters 2, where me and a friend would usually go into an elimination free-for-all with only mines (except timed ones) turned on. It was a blast! (Pun totally intended)
darksnowman Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Lol, GoldenEye... Bunker... Proxy mines is the ONLY way to play. Hows about crossbar/ woodwork challenge in Pro Evo? Or playing the likes of Mario Kart and saying you have to race levels like Kalimari Desert on the railway...
Patch Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 or maybe you've played Mario Kart with teams of 2 where one player in each team is blindfolded (and in control) while the other has to tell them which way to go to reach the finish line! I remember we tried that with Monkey Ball and as much as that sounds like a good idea, it's actually almost impossible to complete even the first few stages. We also played an N64 game where you had to play with your feet. Can't remember much of that one. I think we'd had a lot to drink (hence no-one being bothered by smelly feet on their controllers).
Chris the great Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 hum, the chicken chase game on mario party 3 had me and a mate being idiots. playing with feet, him wearing my glasses, boxes ofer our heads, was a laugh played drinking monkey ball, got messy. i remeber screaming "DAMN DIRTY APE!" in my 1st year halls. also feling rather sick at one point. best was playing timesplitters future perfect on my mates ps2. after almost punching him after he was a twat on co-op, constantly running into my shots, never hanging back, even when he had no health and i had pleanty, never thinking of a stratrgy and generaly being a cock we decided to settle it like gentlemen. me vs him, 1st to 25, only sniper rifles. i won, he said if it was just assault riffles, "it would be a differnt story" turns out it was, i raped him even more completly. after all his flack about me not aiming for head shots, which is a feat on a 12"split screen tv, hes the one who ends up with me being king.
Emasher Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 My friends and I have done this a lot with SSB Melee back in the day.
