Aimless Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I really, really love the idea of MAG, but I really don't like the PS3 controller at all. If I could find a way to use a 360 controller - or, for that matter, a keyboard and mouse - I'd buy it on the spot. You could keep an eye out for as they should start popping up online soon. I'm not sure if overenthusiastic analogue waggling is a requirement for use, though.

Choze Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Just played some MAG 2.0 What an update! Best FPS of the generation! There are alot of undocumented improvements as well. They improved alot of animations and sound effects. Like when you get shot up or new sound effects for guns. Lag has improved its now again far ahead of any P2P game. Had some issues with not all my stats updating but supposedly they will when I log in today. Not tried Move yet. You now have access to all weapons no matter what now(provided you buy them fromt he shop). The new skill trees give more flexiblity and tweaks to setups. You do not waste points on guns anymore.
Daft Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I ordered this yesterday for £14. Can't go wrong for that price.
Cookyman Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I ordered this yesterday for £14. Can't go wrong for that price. Good deal - brace yourself for a plethora of updates though! Version 2.0 refines the game again - MAG is easily the most supported game on the PS3. I think a lot of the reviews of the game would be marked up now as it really has been polished one hell of a lot! Choze - whats your PSN ID? I thought i had you on my friends list?
Choze Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Good one Daft. I am on Raven, Cooky is on Valor. The only newbie tip i should probably give is when you are new just follow around teammates and use heals and repair at first moreso than killing. This way you automaticaly learn how to handle objectives by watching others etc. Till you get some decent guns ofcourse which should be around level 10-20. Bear in mind lvl 0-40 are fast. Leveling up 60-61 takes longer :p IWaggle guy on neogaf is using these Move settings(Advanced). Player rotation - 80 Player pitch - 80 Gesture Sensitivity - 65 Scope Sensitivity - 70 Normal play bounding box - Pitch 30 / Turning 0 / Pointer Sensitivity 40 Fixed Iron Sights - OFF Iron sights bounding box - Pitch 40 / Turning 10 / Pointer Sensitivity 50 In the beta it was insanely sensitive no matter how you set it up. I'll mess around with it tonight.
Daft Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Good deal - brace yourself for a plethora of updates though! Version 2.0 refines the game again - MAG is easily the most supported game on the PS3. I think a lot of the reviews of the game would be marked up now as it really has been polished one hell of a lot! I suspect I'll let a the Plus automatic download take care of download the updates. It must be in the Gbs. I'd love to see some re-reviews. It is kind of strange how review are so static, I guess it makes things simpler but with big updates like this there should be some. Good one Daft. I am on Raven, Cooky is on Valor. The only newbie tip i should probably give is when you are new just follow around teammates and use heals and repair at first moreso than killing. dwarf Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I'm going to buy the game because Daft just bought it. Nah, I've just got the urge for it again, should have popped that extra fiver against Tekken 6 to get this, I can imagine it being fun. The issues killed the beta, but the amount of fixes and stuff must've made it smooth enough to be awesome. Not sure when it'll be in my chops, but I'll make sure to join my best friend, Chode, by picking Raven.
Daft Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Yeah, the number of updates is impressive. Granted annoying to install but if it makes they game better, who cares. Like I said, can't go wrong for £14.
Daft Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Sweet, it's arrived. That was absurdly quick. Only ordered it on Thursday late late evening. Going through the updates. I forgot this game go its patches through the actual game, I'm pretty sure Plus' active download thing wouldn't work so I've just parked the game in my machine and left it. I think I might be Raven. Wasn't there an issue in the beginning with one of the teams being really unpopular? What's it like now?
MATtheHAT Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 I think there was a big pre-order bonus in America, the bonus was some extra weapon or something for S.V.E.R. So most people chose that faction, unbalancing the game a bit. I think its pretty much even now though.
Daft Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Sod Move on this. It's fun but my hand lacks the stability of the DS3. Impressive that there's no lag, though. The whole game is kind of a bit insane. A lot going on...I think I need time to get used to it. It's quite overwhelming.
Choze Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 Not far from my Platinum trophy. Closing in on 300 hours played. lvl 62 right now. Feel free to add me on Raven. I can show afew things :p The whole game is kind of a bit insane. A lot going on...I think I need time to get used to it. It's quite overwhelming. Yes take it easy and take it in step by step, just do little things for now. Make a killing on heals, ressing and repairs. Make sure you buy the equipment from the store and put points into healing especially like full health ressing players. You will have situations where people just keep dieing around you I think there was a big pre-order bonus in America, the bonus was some extra weapon or something for S.V.E.R. So most people chose that faction, unbalancing the game a bit. I think its pretty much even now though. SVER just had the better players on average. Not much difference right now though Raven are good. Definately more of a defensive faction. SVER excel at offensive as well. Strongest teamwork. The weapons are free on EU PSN as far as i am aware. They are just slightly enhanced versions of the tier 1 Sniper rifles and LMG. The next fully new weapons are in the next dlc.
Chuck Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 2.0 is great. I have used the sniper since launch until recently when I switched to shotgun. It is a good game but is really, really frustrating. SVER FTW.
Choze Posted October 4, 2010 Author Posted October 4, 2010 Level 64 now. Just afew more medals and platinum is mine.
Choze Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Really detailed Move Analysis: Nothing like Socoms. Which is understandable. Finally! The iWatch video you have all been asking (and patiently waiting) for since the release of the MAG update 2.0 is finally live, coming with an analysis of the new PlayStation Move control system and plenty of actual online warfare action. Hopefully this 13 minutes video will answer some of your questions concerning how to properly configure the controls as well as dispel some of the doubts with regard to the PlayStation Move effectiveness in the online shooter space. Enjoy! PS: In the video you'll only see my right hand (holding the Move), not the left one (which is holding a Navigation controller outside of camera view). I did this intentionally to reduce visual clutter. Also, in some sequences you wont see the Move either. This was unintentional, as I simply forgot to add it during the editing. I realized it was missing when it was too late to rectify. Sorry about that.
Daft Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I think I better pick up a Nav controller for this. The extra X and O buttons look useful. One think I don't like with Move is the melee attack. Would much rather have a button. Also, can someone explain to me how the health gun works? I'm being a bit dumb with it. I haven't used it once.
Choze Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 I think I am only 4-5 medals away from Platinum. I think I better pick up a Nav controller for this. The extra X and O buttons look useful. One think I don't like with Move is the melee attack. Would much rather have a button. Also, can someone explain to me how the health gun works? I'm being a bit dumb with it. I haven't used it once. You have two health guns. One free and for yourself only, the other for healing yourself + teammates and resuscitating others. Just point and use. The second(important one) has to be bought from the shop. Same goes for the repair gun. The upgraded healing gun is easy points. IMO play with DualShock first. Its simpler imo. As the guy in the video says he did things the hard way :p The upgraded assault gun he likes to use is pretty good. So he is at the stage where he starts dishing out payback :p
Choze Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 Ok new patch up: Could hardly play due to constant freezing. we should make a group Cooky and play with anyone else who wants to learn the ropes or destroy the other team :p The release of MAG 2.0 represented the culmination of months of work on our end and marked what was easily the biggest collection of overall improvements to the game since its debut in January. Not everything was perfect, however, as some users have reported freezing issues since MAG 2.0′s release, but today’s 2.01 patch should clear most everything up. It’s a short, but sweet, update that aims to fix a handful of important stability issues, and also adds in a couple voiceover messages. Enjoy! Patch v2.01 Available October 13, 2010 | 34MB (TPPS) •Voiceover plays when vehicles are extracted in Acquisition •Voiceover calls out sensor abilities when mortar battery is down •Various stability improvements
Cookyman Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 we should make a group Cooky and play with anyone else who wants to learn the ropes or destroy the other team :p I'm up for that - got to level 59 last night!
Choze Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 I'm up for that - got to level 59 last night! Which faction? Me and Daft are on Raven. I can make up a Valour or SVER if people like? We will make one mean squad. I am at 66. Would have been 70. Only issue were the crashes in Domination for me till they patched it just yesterday. Need 4 more medals for my platinum
