Hmm, Wii Fit's first month sales lower than Mario Kart's second month. Was there any shortage of balance boards over there? I thought I recall hearing they were shipping a million for the US at least.

For some reason certain casual games don't seem to have quite the penetration in the US that they do in Europe. The Brain Training games for example have done amazingly in Europe and the UK specifically, as well as Japan really, however they've sold poorly in the US by comparison.

Cool to see MK performing better than the PS3 version of GTA by the way, both in their second month. Really a testament to how Nintendo titles can go up against any of the big hitters now in terms of sales.

I was actually pretty surprised Mario Kart done so well against GTA IV. And the gap isn't all that big.

I'd imagine there would be some sort of shortages for Wii Fit since EU has a big shortage, but I can't say for sure.

I think I remeber reading somewhere that Nintendo, for June at least, are shipping about a ratio of 4:1 Wii Fit to Europe due to the weak dollar.

They certainly seem to be shipping more as I am starting to see it in stock more regularly in stores.

im in leeds and i haven't seen wii fit or mario kart in any stores for ages. i ask the staff about when they expect stock to be replenished and they haven't got the foggiest.

Thats pretty unusual but am no expert.

This week I finally managed to grab a Wii Fit then to find out after all my efforts to get a copy that it was back in stock the next day :shakehead

Anyways still fantastic Wii sales and I expect MK and Wii Fit to continue to shine in the next coming months.

I think its even worse over there cos Nintendo are apparently focusing more on getting them to us seeing as the dollar is weak at the minute. Well, I think so. Thats either whats happening or its something Michael Pachter was mulling over as a possibility.

Easily? The difference was pretty small actually.

I thought that too. It wasn't like it aced it by 100k units or anything. It's certainly not a difference which is about to swing the balance of wordlwide sales. The Wii on the other hand is out selling both the PS3 and 360 put together.

The Wii outselling GTA4 for the PS3 is pretty amusing. Had someone told me the new Nintendo console would be outselling the new GTA game soon after release 2 years ago I wouldn't have believed them.
