dazzybee Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 In the new ONM in the next months section it basically says if you've been clamoring for the next Wii Sports boxing with total control then come back next month!! So......there's basically a Nintendo Boxing title using the balance board coming out then isn't there Punch Out Wii and I would dribble in my pants!!!
Start/Select Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Doubt it. It's probably a 3rd party boxing game we already know about, then again Nintendo Media Summit tomorrow so you never know.
darksnowman Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I'd say its probably Facebreaker, but if Nintendo want to try their hand at a boxing game they are welcome to it. The more quality titles the better.
Deathjam Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I thought facebreaker was gonna be a standard fighting game i.e. using buttons rather than motion controls.
blender Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 i bet EA saw the balance board and had ideas. Its not hard to add controls at the last minute. All those ports show this to be the case. But i imagine the ability to detect body weight shifts will reduce reliance on the accellerometers which just arnt that good at the moment
Portlett Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 guys I think this might be true, at the moment im doing an essay on innovation and a part of it is on intellectual property rights - i.e. copyright, patents, trademarks etc, the essay is also on Nintendo. I was searching this patent website and it shows some recent patents nintendo have registered, one details stuff about boxing. heres some bits from the site. "There are conventional video games of the type where the player controls a plurality of control objects at the same time. In a boxing game of this type, the player separately controls the left hand and the right hand of the boxer (player object), and in some cases also separately controls the body of the boxer. In such a case, the player controls three control objects at the same time, i.e., the left and right hands of the boxer and the body of the boxer as a whole." "Patent Document 2 discloses a game system in which the player controls various parts of the player object. In the game system, markers are attached to various parts of the body of the player, e.g., head, hands, arms, legs, torso, etc., based on which the movement of the player object is controlled. The game system detects the position of each marker based on an image of the player captured by a video camera, and controls the various parts of the player object so as to follow the movement of the player, based on the detected positions." Check it out for yourself, theres another patent that mentions a storage medium so is this the Wii hard drive were waiting for? http://v3.espacenet.com/textdes?DB=EPODOC&IDX=US2008076567&F=0&QPN=US2008076567
tapedeck Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Nintendo have more patent ideas than Einstein. Nice browsed-read though. Now give us Punch Out!
Hero-of-Time Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Ive just picked up this months copy of ONM and indeed it is Facebreaker.
tapedeck Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Yeah, EA's new freestlye label are giving the balance board mucho loving and Facebreaker will "apparently" use the board. Does ONM confirm all of this?
Hero-of-Time Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Yeah, EA's new freestlye label are giving the balance board mucho loving and Facebreaker will "apparently" use the board. Does ONM confirm all of this? I have just skimmed through the feature and I dont think they mentioned the balance board once. The developers mention a suprise unlockable on the Wii version but they dont say what it is.
NotAshley Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 It's probably Facebreaker. If not it's got to be Fight Night Round 4 (just announced, but I don't know how it will work on the Wii - probably adapted like FIFA) or a new Victorious Boxers game.
dazzybee Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 better not be using the balance board for training games like fight night! USE IT PROPERLY!!!!
darksnowman Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Wii Sports Boxing 2 is already available on WiiFit. :p "Royt left block! Keep your fires burning!"
D_prOdigy Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 It wasn't officially out till yesterday, but my subscription copy arrived tuesday.
