dwarf Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I haven't really found myself compelled to keep playing the game. In some ways I want to like it more than I do, but the fact is, I'm not playing it Yeah you get some really well made levels, but when I find them I don't think 'wow this is fun' I think 'how did they make that' and 'that's pretty cool'. There is usually little gameplay involved. I also have some blues in the creating stuff. It's quite a big flaw that thee aren't art tools, but instead there are only stickers. The sticker limit is holding back my remake, as are the things which I'm not sure how to create/wonder if it's possible to create (I think it must be, just the know-how is an issue). I'm still glad I have the game but its just that I'm always in the mood for playing another game because I know it'll be more fun or engaging.
Diageo Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Yeah, I kinda feel the same way sometimes, but I will not give up until i get every prize in story mode. After that I will try making my level as well. If after making my level and getting every prize, i'm still bored, then i'll probably stop playing. But they'll probably bring a new DLC by then. My mam is always using the TV so i find it hard to find time to play. That might be a reason too.
dwarf Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 That's a point, I actually need to get my money's worth out of the game because I bought DLC and have only used the paint gun in one of my levels. Slightly annoyed I haven't made the sort of standard levels as I wanted to achieve. Thought it would be easy to make a cool one but it's hard to differentiate from another creator. Remaking a Crash level looked easy on the outset but when trying to make it genuine is another story.
Daft Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 I find I play it if I have about 20 minutes free. I do the top rated or something, play some awesome levels and then just forget about it until the next 20 minutes I have free. In that respect it is my favourite casual game.
S.C.G Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 It's a game that has a fresh feel that you can dip in and out of easily but it also has scope to last longer if you want to make your own levels, so it can be a casual phase or a compulsive experience I guess.
Deathjam Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I have barely got into it, but I hope they give me enough time to do so by not releasing another game anytime too soon.

Chris the great Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 im waiting to actualy have a chance to appricate this. the problem is, outher games are keeping me busy. i can see myself bothering to make levels when im not trying to finnish anouther game, the problem is, when making somthing, its not really goal driven, so i dont feel compelled to do it.
Razz Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I really want to make a level, and I have some good ideas too, but I just really can't seem to make it come to fruition. It's frustrating.
Diageo Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 god of war level pack? is that materials and stuff or actual levels?
Chris the great Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 im finaly about to embark on a level of my own. going for somthing cliche just to get into the swing, bassicly going for an idiana jones type affair, so lots of silly booby traps, possibly have a swing into the plane for the level finish. once i have that done, i have a plan for my magnum opuis. i would tell you the bassic level plan, but its just the right mix of cool, and relativly simple, that id rather show it off in person. also, youd all say its been done and id cry blood.
flameboy Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Love the challenge levels people are now adding. My levels should be ready soon. Started a challenge level as well. Got the basics in place. Anyone tried the Metal Gear Wiggler level? Yes I was going to come on here and post about it. Loved it amazing....
Diageo Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Anyone got the new god of war pack? good? worth it?
Diageo Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 What sort of stuff do u get, besides costumes?
Chris the great Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 You get ancient themed stickers. could use them for my level :p played online today, got in a group with some strangers, going by costumes i'll assume a guy and two girls, and it was the best. no chatting just communication via emotion and hands, really enjoyed it, every one looked out for each outher, went back to pick people up. it wasnt just playing together, it was sharing an experience. started my first level, its not exactly complex but its a start only a few seconds long atm but its so simple i havent found any gitches. finaly starting to really apreciate it.
Chris the great Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Yeah they have cleared up so many glitches. I want the online coop create. That'd be fun i dunno, i was online with some random guy today, i can honestly say our minds did not match, always doing things differently. making a level would be hell. unless you did like one of thouse pictures at school. you each to a little section without knowing what the outher has done. that would be cool.
tapedeck Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 i dunno, i was online with some random guy today, i can honestly say our minds did not match, always doing things differently. Voice chat ftw! :awesome: I can't wait for this feature. I think the levels will (again) reach new levels of creativity. Some amazing co-op levels could come about too. (As I feel there aren't enough amazing co-op games at the moment.)
Chris the great Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 if i had a steadfast mate to go through levels with in co op, at my house id be happy. its difficult doing simple things like timing it right with strangers who can;t hear you. playing dino land 2 (check it out, its very good) with people earlier, we ended up forming a giant chain of people rather then all grabbing what we should have. yes it was funny, but honestly, it was also very lucky. voice chat would help, but then id have to talk to little kids and i dont wanna be THAT guy.
Chris the great Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 my level is making progress. ive found that cos im going back through the single player to ace levels, im able to look at how levels are made, which is giving me ideas. so far my level is about 1/3 of the way through. its bassicly a set of little challenges, jumping fire pits etc while climbing up te inside of a building with the exit on the roof. oh, and it took me two hours to do all the cowboy levels aceing them, but then i got my costume and it was all worth it
Chris the great Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Sounds good. Make the building collapse :p WHHHHATTT? that sounds a little beyond my ability, abotough i guess i could just have bombs linked to a switch.... i was planning to have a bit you had to blast out of. i'll try that, if i can get it to work, i might just exlode that shit.
flameboy Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I think this is the most casual game I have. Whilst I would love to be able to make awesome levels I have long since given up any hope of actually being good at doing it and instead just prefer to pop on every so often play some user created levels and have the odd game online.

Whilst I would love to be able to make awesome levels I have long since given up any hope of actually being good at doing it and instead just prefer to pop on every so often play some user created levels and have the odd game online. i was the same, but actualy getting stuck into the design makes it easier. my level aint exactly great, but its atleast competant. i dont expect it to get much attention, but the fact ive actualy made somthing to works (so far) is a real buzz. if it gets just one heart, it'l feel like a real achivment.
tapedeck Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 The paintinator opens up a slew of new design opportunities. I keep meaning to get back into designing as I was overjoyed with my last two designs. More action from now on though... Looking forward to playing some other levels from you guys. Nice to have some fellow designers amongst us
Diageo Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I've been creating a level for a while now but I keep putting it off. Also I'm having trouble creating a scary looking monster, any tips?
