IGN have a three page look back on the Worms series up.

I haven't played the DS ones but I have played the series on PC and Gamecube and Worms Armageddon is the high point for me so far. Good laughs were had when playing it in 2-player and above that Worms 3D just couldn't replicate.

So whats everyone elses memories and experiences with the Worms games? Favourite weapons and items? ...favourite voices for your worms?

Worms 2 was where it was at for me. I was about 10 years old and played it all the time with a couple of friends. Iirc we either didn't have the internet then, or didn't know how to play games over it, so it was always a case of going over to each others houses. Back then multiplayer gaming consisted of just Worms 2 and Goldeneye 007 - and it was also the time I was playing the immensely brilliant Tomb Raider II. A lot of memories of those games actually :)

I was a bit of a master of the ninja rope and I remember the days before they nerfed the Super-Banana-Bomb, and a triple tap could easily deal 350+ damage. We used to play with all weapons, max crates everywhere, full health, crazy wind, custom levels, custom guns. One of my favourites was to change the handgun so that it fired 6 hugely explosive shots that did loads of damage and sent enemies flying, but not tell anyone I'd made the change :heh: I also remember entering cheats like **supershopper** (backspace) to get stupidly cool weapons that you rarely came accross otherwise, like the concrete donkey and nuclear bomb. Oh and the single player campaign! I still remember some of the password codes... "once upon a time there were / some small worms / who got very annoyed / and decided to go to / arms in order to wipe / out their evil enemy / counterparts" etc etc etc....

Favourite voices? I think I used to use Smooth Operator, that was just weird, hearing my Worms talk that way. I think I had an Animorphs team named after the characters from the kids' books (hey, I was 10).

Armageddon I could appreciate, but they just over complicated things in my eyes.

In Worms Armageddon, my team would always have the Portuguese Anthem and Brazillian voices. ("Qui Droga!", "Eu sou djimais!:yay:")

Oh, the Holy Hand Grenade. I found it hilarious, even if I never heard of Monty Python back then. And the Bananas!

I used to be a master of the Super/Aqua Sheep, too. But, eventually, the fact that I played it in my Dad's workplace, where my friends could rarely come, I eventually stopped.

Heh, my father's colleagues still say "Eu sou djimais!" in a high-pitched voice whenever I show up.

I used to be a ninja rope master on this too. Back when Worms 1 and Reinforcements came out, me and my mates used to play this all the time, it was great. We were a bit obsesed with it to be honest - we always used to draw worms all over our rough books at school. I remember when one of my mates told me he'd got the mole bomb in Reinforcements, and despite the hours and hours that I played it, I didn't see even one. The same person told me he'd seen a secret live action video clip before loading up a match one time (instead of the usual CG ones), and I never got that either. I even managed to convince him that he'd dreamt it all, until we explored the CD and found it along with the other videos.

I remember making a couple of my own custom soundbanks for Worms 2 (trying to do it in Reinforcements was just too hard..), and I made a particularly good Red Dwarf one. Didn't play 2 or Armageddon quite as much as the original, but there were some superb weapons on it, like the Super Banana Bomb, Salvation Army and the titular weapon from Armageddon.

I never bothered trying the 3D games - they didn't look that good - but I got Worms DS 2 last year, which was great, as it was the first time I'd played it online. Got bored of it after a couple of weeks, though, when Super Paper Mario came along. I was almost certainly going to get the Wii version, but without online, there's no way I'm getting it.

I have lots of fond memories of Worms Armegeddon (N64 and PC) and Worms 3D.

Concrete Donkey is awesome.

Oh, the Holy Hand Grenade. I found it hilarious, even if I never heard of Monty Python back then.

I always imagine a "hallelujah" in that bit of the film.

I'm a ninja rope pro on Open Warfare 2 and Armageddon.

And I have proof :D

Such a fun weapon to use, and no amount of explaining it to anyone can make someone understand how to fling yourself from one side of the map to the other with a simple flick.

Oh man. I want a rope race now...
