What I remember about the thread where Dynasty girl went insane: it was a poll about eating meat, everyone was giving good, non-offensive points and a nice discussion was going on. Until she arrived. She started posting in all caps and shouting at people for being insensitive and such, and the treatment she received from then on was completely justified.

 

I just had a look at the topic, she wasn't posting in caps from the beginning, and to be honest people were being blindly ignorant and telling her how veganism was wrong and that she was malnourished. Astounding ignorance and grouping up led her to get angry with you guys.

 

 

Compared to some of the replies in this topic, she can't be considered an idiot. Come on, a moderator mocking her when she wanted help by saying "I'm a butcher", therefore not being able to do anything. That's really not on.

 

Obviously she wouldn't do it, that was just the culmination of her reaction that was clearly exaggerated, at least initially. You can't make your point if you lose reason and logic.

 

In that waffle you stated she wouldn't do it, so it was never a threat, really just a daft remark that was only really an insult (if a strong one).

Aaaah, of course I remember Goatsie-gate. One of the seminal moments in the forums history. Happened only soon after I joined so it did way, way back. Of course Zeik came back with a vengence and hacked the site several times with porn pop-ups. I'm trying to remember some other bans from way back, was Jump_Button or Johnny Stitchiano banned or did they just leave?

 

As for Dynasty_girl as far as I good see everyone was pretty decent towards her most of the time. Then she posted a topic and people said they liked meat so she went completely over the top. As for McPhee mocking her, well he didn't, he just made a funny observation that he wasn't the best person to ask for back-up seeing as he was a butcher.

When the prophet Muhammed is insulted, some people actually go out to kill people in real life. Believe it or not, some people feel that strongly about things. It's not the same as simply believing something with veganism, because the way they see it the animals don't have a choice and people simply don't care about the conditions etc. To them it is as clear cut as the slave trade.

 

You of course want to frame her as a bad person. Of course, she went way over the top. But she is definitely no bad person, despite how angry she got after practically everyone turned on her, and really it's a shame that some people continued to goad her after she got that mad.

I actually care about animal welfare - when I can, I only buy free range, organic meat (and eggs and dairy). If it's economically viable, I'll try and keep it up at uni.

In fairness, Islam or Christianity are religions with no proof of a God or heaven whatsoever, and more proof to say they're made up. I would feel annoyed if someone tried to force a religion on me.
