The fault rate for the PS3 isn't 0.5%. That was just the 'Yellow Light of Death. Furthermore it was based on the proportion of people that called Sony for support about that problem. If you think about it, it very likely most issues people called about would be trying to fix the online settings or calling about menu things etc and not defects.

Many people that have had the problem haven't called Sony because either they know it costs too much or because they can't find the support number (Among other factors).

Its a good demo.

Tv was crappy for its price anyway. Yeah also had 4 out of 5 other Samsungs go faulty.

And yet... I've had mine for about three years and nothing has gone wrong with it at all, having said that, next year I will be consdering getting a new TV if the price is right and it will most likely be a Sony depending on what they manage to being to the HDTV market next year.

I'm sorry but all these people kicking up a stink should remember that nothing comes with more than a 1 year warranty unless you pay out the extra to do so. The 360 is an exception because they would definitely have faced lawsuits are there are inherent faults in the 360 and their creating of the 3 year warranty pretty much confirms that they were aware of this...

I'm not here but I just have to say this.

European law means Sony is legally obliged to provide a 2 year warrenty. “Sellers … are obliged to guarantee the conformity of the goods with the contract for a period of two years after the delivery of the goodsâ€.

Further more, here in the UK, the 1979 Sles of Goods Acts can ensure a replacement/repair of anything up to two years after a products sale. The onus is completely on the consumer though.

Your statutory rights under Sale of Goods mean you may still be entitled to a repair, replacement or a refund long after the warranty has expired.

Sony aren't selling you the machine, the retailer is. Most stores will try to fob you off if you bring up the Sales of Goods act, though, so you're going to have to put on your angry face or possibly go over their heads right from the off; as a general rule people at central offices seem more accommodating to customer demands than people at the front line, as it were.

Daft is back. High Daft!

I'm flying back tomorrow. Egypt's been fun but goddamn it's hot and grimy.

Yeah, it's complicated and you're gonna have to bitch a lot but I think the consumer is favoured by law.

I'm off to have dinner on the Nile. Ciao y'all!

lol so all PS3s have some sort of inherent 'gas' problem as a manufacturing fault...

Oh and about the independant specialist repairs they used who were claiming a 95% success rate. About half went wrong very quickly lol. Bunch of cowboys. Supposedly alot of these companies also do modding on 360 and Wii's for pirate games going by their websites. Nice one BBC.

Apparently tv media still have no clue about gaming at all.

Well Tales bombed in on PS3 with the highest first day sales of a Tales game for the current gen(Wii, DS ,PS3, PSP and 360) at 147,000 copies. First week should be interesting.

You can also add two more PS3 features: http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/09/16/tale_of_two_tales/

Faster loading.

High quality HD video.

This is good news because japanese PS3 3rd party support is picking up fast. With talk of motion controller and PS eye support as well.

I'm properly back now.

By chance does anyone have a spare MAG Beta key? I know it's a long shot but I missed the sign up while I was away.

LoveFilm have sent me InFamous so I'll be playing that today.

Yeah I was just thinking of redownloading that demo, loved the fighting in it. Better than Batman I reckon!

I think a lot of people will read this as another attempt by you to wind up all the Batman lovers...BUT you do have a point, there is a ton of good stuff about the Yakuza system, its that similar kind of rhythm based system but benefits from contextual enviromental attacks etc...
