Would I enjoy this after being a Tekken man for so long? It's been a long long time since I've had Street Fighter. Last time I played it was the arcade version. Remember those intermission mini-games? Hahahaha..

Try it. I havent seen any in arcades but thats a good first stop. Looks great. Hopefully its fun and stays that way too.

The timeline goes like this;

Street Fighter

Street Fighter Alpha 2

Street Fighter Alpha 3

Street Fighter 2

Street Fighter 4

Street Fighter Alpha 3:2I

Street Fighter Alpha 3:3S

All the alphas happened before SF2, and SF4 is aft 2 but before third strike...

Damn the story makes no sense. Gouken is supposed to be dead too...

Yeah, Rose went missing after M Bison left her body.

So then where was Gouken in the past installments? Missing or dead?

Rumour to be dead.

From Wiki:

According to the backstory that was developed for Super Street Fighter II Turbo and the Street Fighter Alpha series, Gouken and Gouki (as Akuma is known in Japan) learned a murderous martial art style from their master Goutetsu which included the special techniques the Hadoken, the Shoryuken and the Tatsumaki Senpukyaku, 20 years before the Street Fighter II tournament. After Goutetsu was killed by Akuma, Gouken refined these special techniques, eliminating the "murderous intent" they possessed, and developed them into a top-class martial art style. He would then teach this new style to two students, Ryu and Ken. Gouken also trained Dan at one time, but then expelled him after seeing that Dan was motivated by hatred.

Gouken makes an appearance in Akuma's ending in the original Street Fighter Alpha, in which he is depicted as a a white-bearded old man with bushy eyebrows.

Akuma's dialogue exchange with Ryu in Street Fighter Alpha 2 suggest that Akuma killed Gouken prior to the events of the Alpha series. Suzaku Castle, Ryu's home stage in the Street Fighter II series and Street Fighter Alpha 2, is the apparent resting place of Gouken.

In Street Fighter IV, it is revealed that Gouken has somehow survived his battle with Akuma and is still alive.

He appears in Akuma's ending in the game, challenging his brother to another duel, although the outcome of this battle is not shown.

The only playable character that is known to be dead is Gen in Street Fighter Alpha 3 but he is in this game.
