Burnout: Paradise

Cube, quite possibly the B:P nut on these forums is also on the 360, so if you need help with anything, talk to him. :P

I'm starting to loose a little bit of faith, as the update for 360 has been delayed again.

Edit: PS3 owners: If you go online today you should find the Rai Jin and Olympus in the junkyard (but online only at the moment).

Oh, forgot to mention that the 360 update is on the marketplace (for free). I've yet to get it because I can't connect my 350 to the internet at my Dad's house.

anyway, news on the next update:

It's the big one.

For the first time ever in a Burnout game, you'll be able to ride motorcycles.

It's a huge step for us here on the Burnout team, but this year's all about changing Burnout in a BIG way through continued support. Last month, we brought you our Cagney Feature Pack and introduced 3 awesome online game modes, two great cars, a live news page and calendar, 70 all-new timed multi-part challenges, a complete overhaul of our Online Racing System and a stack of other major improvements. Next month, we're breaking out the big guns.

Here's what Burnout Paradise players can look forward to, when they get the FREE Burnout Paradise Bikes Pack next month.

We've got two rides ready to go – Day 1. Just head for your nearest junkyard in Paradise City to pick up the FV1100 street bike and the stunning Japanese Firehawk racing bike. That'll do for a start, but there's more in store once you've played a little way through the bike-specific gameplay. We'll bring you more on these vehicles in a future post.

From the second we added the first prototype bike, we wanted to cruise the streets of Paradise City at night. So, in addition to the bikes, we're adding night to the game. You'll see day cycle through to night and see the city change with it. Paradise City takes on a life of its own once the rush hour traffic thins out!

During the day, you can play a variation of our Burning Routes challenges. Beat the target times on specific routes to complete "Burning Rides". The big change here is that these routes feature multiple checkpoints – they'll take you all over the city. At night, complete a different set of routes – the "Midnight Rides".

If you're used to seeing Paradise City swathed in blazing sunshine, you're in for a surprise. We've also introduced a dynamic weather system to change the feel of the city – another Burnout first.

Oh, but the dynamic weather is just like haze, fog, mist and stuff. Great news that the bikes are now free.

any 360 players fancy organising a session this week?

I'm definitely up for it.

From the sounds of the latest podcast, there's only four bikes. Which is perfectly fine considering that most of the work went into the handling and gameplay surrounding them. Plus they are essentially just testing new things.

I know! It's unheard of for a company to add so much new content for free! Unlike Ninja Gaiden 2, they release it and then a month and ahalf later release extra modes for it that will cost to download... tisk tisk.

Yep, especially when in Ninja Gaiden 2 the new modes effectively just re use assests etc... already in the game. Burnout especially with this next one is offering so much more to the game.

That mission mode really should have been included in the retail game, too.

Anyway, I suppose the advertising helps a lot (which I only notice when it glitches and puts the same one on every single billboard, like this:

I suddenly have the urge to go to Natwest :p I personally feel that advertising in games is fine..if kept to a minimum. it can actually increase authenticity at times. I always remember Wave Race 64 having 'Kawasaki' plastered all over it and thought "Wow! Nintendo are awesome getting that in there!" How young I was...

In games where it makes perfect sense, I have no issues with it. Burnout being set in a metropolitan city, it's fine to have adverts where otherwise there'd be fake adverts. Kinda similar to say, James Bond using Sony electronics.

If it ever subverts the suspension of disbelief, however, they can get fucked. Like, oh I dunno- an HSBC in Fable II.

Cant wait for the update.

I am trying to get the elite driver card but am so bad at stunts. The rest is easy though. I am even topping up my achievements. Did a ton fo Uncharted stuff the other day in one sitting but its glitched for me now.

Criterion are great. The game is really good. its a shame it got a backlash just before release especially due to the demo.

Apparently Uncharted works with one save file. So the solution is to use autosave and stick to it. Prevents people from loading online-cheat save files.
