Slaggis Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 It's going to "peak" at 3am apparently. Ahh, everytime i turn my head it's even darker. Freaky. SHIT! I can see one, its massive. My mams here with me. im kinda worries its really big. i took a photo ill uplaod it in a min Edit: It was a plane, argh i feel like a idiot. In my defense even my mam thought it was one. lol, ahwell. I keep checking out my windows every few mins, though I don't think we'll see them till later.
Strider Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I read it's meant to kick off at 11pm, so 1 1/2 hours yet. And the north-eastly sky is blocked outside my window by a big fat tree.
Coolness Bears Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Clear sky at night shepards delight. I have completely Clear skies where i am. I'll be on the watch all evening.
ViPeR Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I'm confused, do you have to live in the north east or look to the north east...
Strider Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I'm confused, do you have to live in the north east or look to the north east... Only look i think. I wish i was still camping it would be great to see them with no evil light pollution. I was actually amazed the other night while returning to the tent. It was pitch black for around a few mile away and the amount of stars you could see cystal clear, even the really far off ones really got to me of how small we are.
Chuck Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I think you saw a plane m8. I head on the radio the other day it was meant to be between 10-2 with 100 an hour. havent seen anything yet (part from planes) Jesus, theres a bright light!, im goin outside. Maybe just a star, but there are multicoloured ones, maybe airplanes
Slaggis Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 To clear up confusion, you don't need to live, or even look in a north east direction to see them. Its only mentioned as more prominate in the north east because thats where the constillation its named after is. You can look anywhere thats clear and you should see something.
ReZourceman Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Hmmm. Interesting stuff out there. Is a star that seems to twinkle red a planer or a star? When I look through the binoccies it just looks like its got a red light on it. (Not an aircraft though as not moving) No shooting star meteorites thingys though...booo.
fatnickc Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I'll be looking out for them. Even if they're visible everywhere, I need all the extra visibility I can get to combat London's light. Good job my window points NW.
Caris Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 I can't even see normal stars outside, does it mean it's not dark enough or something?
Slaggis Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I can't even see normal stars outside, does it mean it's not dark enough or something? Yeah, they're (stars) are only just starting to appear.
Strider Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I can't even see normal stars outside, does it mean it's not dark enough or something? I can't see any stars either, even though it is clear. Only ones i can see are 2 big glowy ones to the south. Not dark enough, as well as a lamp post being close to the house doesnt help particually.
ReZourceman Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I can see quite a few....Is it cos I is South?

Ok awesome, will look again soon. Was still cloudy and light when I looked an hour ago.
Slaggis Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Ok awesome, will look again soon. Was still cloudy and light when I looked an hour ago. I'd wait till closer to midnight, its going to be best at 3am so the closer to that time, the more chance you'll have of seeing something.

Slaggis Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Rightio, clouds might be gone by then. Or it'll get worse and rain lol, that would kind of, to put it mildly, suck.
harribo Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Clear sky at night shepards delight. Is it not red sky at night?
Slaggis Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Is it not red sky at night? Yeah, "red sky at night shepards delight, red sky in the morning, shepards warning" I think.
Coolness Bears Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Is it not red sky at night? Oh Yeah it is. *trys to cover his mistake* err...I adapted it.
fatnickc Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Well I definitely just saw one that wasn't an aeroplane (which isn't too hard to distinguish as if they're over here they're recently taken off or soon to land, so are low and with two spaced lights) but want to see more!
Caris Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 My mum just seen one, she was going look! look! but i couldn't find my glasses in time...
