Yes, by the end of June, an amazing 9.27 million Wiis had been sold, moving it ever closer to its target of being the best-selling console in the world. The results mean that Nintendo has increased its forecast for Wii hardware shipments from 14 million to 16.5 million by March 31 2008. It's not all about Wii though and the financial reports also revealed great sales figures for DS as Nintendo's hit handheld gets closer to the magic 50 million mark with sales reaching 47.27 million by the end of June. It really is amazing news and with huge games such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on the way we can only see more success for Nintendo. Catching up with the 360 fast, then.

Nintenchris Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I would love to know what the PS3 has sold.. but im sure Sony would be to emmbarrsed to release SALES figures If Nintendo continue pulling in the ammount of people they have been with Wii.. then they will be unstoppable mainly because 3rd partys will have no choice but to make games for Wii because thats where the money is. Also i just realised that we havent had the big hitters yet either! other than Zelda Sales should explode when Galaxy/Metroid/Smash bros/Mario Kart hit
Slaggis Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Since the "pricecut" for the PS3 in america sales there have risen over 185% this month. Sobasically that will carry on till august when they run out of 60gb models and the sales go back to normal. The Wii is doing fantastic.

Zelda wasn't exclusive either :P. Infact it's incredible how the Wii is doing so well with such a lack-lustre line up. Just needs some better third party projects and I would say the Wii is pretty unstopable.

Go play Madden, Rabbids, Sonic, SSX, Heatseeker, Eledees, Metal Slug... oh hell, just get yourself to a game store will you?

Since the "pricecut" for the PS3 in america sales there have risen over 185% this month. Sobasically that will carry on till august when they run out of 60gb models and the sales go back to normal. The Wii is doing fantastic. Even with a rise of that level it still only brings sales on a par with 360 sales and nowhere near Wii or DS levels. nextgenireland are well behind on their sales figures.

NOthing breath takingly outstanding, I'm talking about third party projects that are built ground-up for the Wii, have a proper budget and can be put along side a first party game and make you struggle to think what is better. Zack and Wiki and No More Heroes are great examples, but from there it gets a bit hard to find anything up to that standard. Nights 2, Soul Calibur Legends and RE:UC although looking to be good games are very much getting tainted with a "Make it for as little money as possible" brush which really spoils them for me. What I mean is I want a third party to really take a risk developing something incredible for the console, something made on the same scale as Assassins Creed, Army of Two, Soul Calibur 4, Lair etc. I don't yet think the Wii has that on it's line up yet (minus two or three games).

D-Day Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Anyway, that's massive, well regardless of your feelings of them (although it would be strange to have 100% negative feelings against Nintendo on this site), looks like they've hit the traget audience well, so props to them, and the train does not look like its slowing down. More consoles will shift when games like Galaxy, Corruption, Brawl and Kart hit for the audience thats been around longer. More consoles will hit when the likes of Wii fit, Animal Crossing etc come out for the newer audience. EDIT: And Caris, have you disposed your Wii?

I'm not getting anything confused here, but here if it was, I didn't say anyone had to own any Nintendo item to come onto a Nintendo forum, all I said is it would be weird for someone to be 100% against Nintendo and join a Nintendo forum. If someones mind changes after they've been coming on to the forum for ages, then it would obviously be the forum in itself that draws the person to it, no longer Nintendo. If it weren't at me, we're, and it's, all good then . But back on topic, so with the gaming industry growing as much as it is, I wonder how long it will be before they the big 20. I don't even count out Sony at all in this, the brand name alone (once some things are altered) could bring the tide a little more their way. Nintendo also had their Q1 report for income on sales for software and hardware, and that was big.

We are in the first year of the console. Furthermore, third party developpers didn't believe in the success of the Wii and start developping games late. With sales like this, I'm confident saying that more and more great third party games will be announced.
