Fierce_LiNk Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 What exactly are new Wii owners buying in Japan? Apart from Wii Sports and Wii Play, there's scarcely been other titles in the top 10. Yet, the system still sells. It's odd.

theguyfromspark Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I think the Wii and DS in Japan are viewed complimentary systems and due to the constant shortages of the DS people are picking up Wiis instead. If there was an unlimited supply of DSes I think the number of Wiis sold would be much lower. That is, until Nintendo release the Wii killer app (which was Nintendogs on the DS), then it will sell completely on it's own merits.

Daft Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Has Sonic for the Wii been released in Japan yet? I would have thought that would have sold well.
immy Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Has Sonic for the Wii been released in Japan yet?I would have thought that would have sold well. yeah it has, the sonic for ps3 sold better if i rerember
Fierce_LiNk Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I think Sonic and the Secret Rings sold better in Europe, but I'm not too sure about that. I remember it did pretty well in the UK. *calls for Dante*
Daft Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 yeah it has, the sonic for ps3 sold better if i rerember Ouch...that kinda sucks...
Dante Posted April 13, 2007 Author Posted April 13, 2007 Japan Sonics Sonic and the Secret Rings - 19,000 Sonic PS3 - 25,000
Fierce_LiNk Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 That's a bit strange. Would've thought Secret Rings would have sold much better in Japan.
immy Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Japan SonicsSonic and the Secret Rings - 19,000 Sonic PS3 - 25,000 I was right! Gaf has taught me somthing
Daft Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Those figures suck. I would have thought due to the few good launch titles coupled with the fact that it is Sonic, plus the fact the Wii version is actually a good game in itself, that it would have sold better than that!
That Guy Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Sonic isn't big in Japan, so those figures don't surprise me.
khilafah Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Sonic on PS3 was horrible and Sonic on the Wii is average at best! I don't blame people for not buying these games. The Wii Sofware numbers show how it needs new games and quick!!
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Those figures suck. Almost as much as the games. I think the Japanese are buying the Wii for Wii Sports alone. In that respect it's almost like the Wii's Nintendogs.
James McGeachie Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 For the record Secret Rings is among the overall best selling Wii titles in Europe and is easily the best selling third party title in the UK. It's stuck in the top 40 since release and was in the top 5 for a good few weeks.
