spirited away Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Sqaure Enix have expressed interest in bringing an online title to the Wii but it won't be possible for them unless Nintendo relaxes its freind code policy. The two companies hope to come to an agreement over it. Source: Ngamer
spirited away Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 No? Really? Has this been posted before?
Stocka Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Yes, ages ago, just like the two bits of news you posted in the handheld board
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Has this been posted before? My sarcasm was directed at the nonbelievers of my previous posts regarding this subject.
spirited away Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 Yes, ages ago, just like the two bits of news you posted in the handheld board Then the mods will lock them, i hadn't heard of it so i decided to. I Cant really be bothered to check.
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 No. Dont lock it. Or my sarcasm will have failed!
ShadowV7 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Good to know that S-E isn't big on the friend codes, hopefully more developers will do the same.
Kav Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 No. Dont lock it. Or my sarcasm will have failed! I appreciate your sarcasm!
spirited away Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 Christal Chronicles? Hmm, would make sense, with the whole co-op thing going on. I loved the original.
Hellfire Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Hmm, would make sense, with the whole co-op thing going on. I loved the original. Me too. Also, isn't it possible for devs to use their own servers or something?
Tyson Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Christal Chronicles? lol Crystal Chronicles was already promised to be online wasn't it? Or was that just the DS version.
darksnowman Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I hadnt realised this was posted before... until you chaps started mentioning Crystal Chronicles. I hope they do come to an arrangement over the friend code issue for this. But if not, we can share our friend codes via the boards here and play together anyway! It would be great if theres something else in the pipeline too.
Hellfire Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 lol Crystal Chronicles was already promised to be online wasn't it? Or was that just the DS version. No, it's the Wii version afaik.
DCK Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Thank you so much Nintendo, not only are you going to screw up the Wii online system, it is going to cost us games as well. Get it sorted. This shouldn't be happening.
mcj metroid Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 My sarcasm was directed at the nonbelievers of my previous posts regarding this subject. how about a simple i'm sorry this news is old instead of the horrible sarcasm humour?
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 how about a simple i'm sorry this news is old instead of the horrible sarcasm humour? Whats wrong with my humour? I was thinking that someone could find that information useful.
gaggle64 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I don't understand how the multiplayer on something like Crystal Chronicles would be in conflict with the friend codes system, unless there's some part of some MMO-like feature conflicting with it (lobby ect.). I'm sure Ninty and Squeenix, two companies who are all probably having hawt butt schecks with each other in between meetings, will work something out.
Hellfire Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I also don't see how it conflicts with friend codes, but if S-E tries to talk Nintendo out of it, it might be good.
DCK Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I don't think it's conflicting, but the Friend Code system is potentially a barrier for online games (it makes it a lot harder to connect); and therefore I think Square Enix has doubts about it. You don't want to release an online game on a system that restrains people from playing. What I hope Nintendo will do is create some sort of system that utilizes the Wii mailing system to pass on Friend Codes from the games without having to manually transfer them. Hope they make it easier, anyway.
gaggle64 Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 It's probably more of a creative decision then any kind of technical barrier.
