I just realised that there's no freaking thread for this most awesome of sporting events; The Cricket World Cup.

 

So Far:

 

Pakistan have, ridiculously, been knocked out after losing to Ireland

 

India been beaten by Bangladesh need to beat Windies to go through

 

Er...Other, incredibly absurd things...

Yeah what a great debut Ireland have made!

 

First cricket world cup, first point ever against Zimbabwe, first win ever against Pakistan ( :yay: ) and of course the Blarney Army have just been incredible!

 

Absolutely shocked at the death of Bob Woolmer though. Pakistan cricket is having a very rough year.

I'm not an avid cricket fan, in fact I barely know anything technical about it, but I do know that the really fat bloke who bowls for Bermuda (I think) is hilarious. Seems so random to have such a huge guy playing a sport like cricket when nearly everyone else is pretty fit and athletic.

Anyway it's been a great tournie so far! I really hope India go through seeing as my family come from India, but it will be very tough, considering the shock defeat to bangladesh.

 

South Africa will run away with it though imo. They are just playing so well; I don't see em losing.

Really really sad wid the loss of Bob Woolmer and Pakistan loosing to Ireland, full credit to them they played awesome. :(

at least we got our highest ever WC score today :)

 

shame South Africa beat our total in less than half the time we took to get it :p

 

but yeah couldn't have had a harder 2 seeded teams out the whole tournament

It's been one of the most exciting world cups ever, probably because of the increased number of teams and the small west indian stadia allowing for some massive scores so far. Once we get to the super 8, it can only get more exciting.

 

Before it started, I was predicting Australia, SA, Pakistan and Windies to make it to the semis, but now with Pakistan's shock exit, it's pretty much left wide open... could Ireland grab it? Probably not, my money's on Sri Lanka now.

 

And also this year, something equally awesome... TWENTY20!!! This is going to be so awesome.

That's a pretty long winded game to remember :heh:. I'll try it when it gets to the Semis :).

 

 

That much was expected really, it just seemed too much of a coincidence. Still, he was a great guy, from the interview they showed on TV, shame he had to go like that.

Pakistan doing bloody fantastic against Zimbabawe today, when Inzamam went off, I was almost in tears, such an endearing playa. Nazir out for 160, the only real disappointments of the day have been Mohammad Yousuf going for 3, and Shahid Afridi going for 16 after an awesome opening. 286 ish, with 5 overs to go.

 

I feel slightly bad for Zimbabawe.

 

It's extremely sad. I guess it was pretty obvious really.

 

EDIT: Yousuf just got out for 3. Has the world gone upside down?

 

Man, he's had an utterly bollocks tournament.

I'm not much of a cricket fan, but i do tend to watch the world cup now and then. Havn't seen much of it so far, but Ireland are doing better than i thought they would
