It s everythin mario kart should be.it has a long one player where you explore different worlds. it had 22 tracks which at the time was more than any mario kart.it had a much much better battle mode.no stupid bolloons or anything. You could fully adjust what items you want there and one you didnt.

i think the powerups were more fair. the shortcuts are excellent and really take practice to find out. the game is more challanging than the simple mario karts.best controls in a kart game until mario kart ds. Arguably had better graphics than mario kart 64. it was certainly excellent for ps1. Had no annoying voice overs like HI IM DAISY.

mario kart is what i call an overrated series. Nintendo never seem to surprise us with extras anymore like games like super mario deluxe for the gameboy. They seem to give us what they think is enough for us... DD was too short and 16 tracks is pathetic

Me* and my mates** (& bro***) we playing it today; I came second overall when going through all the tracks (missed out Tiny Arena, since it's not that great, and the two plain tracks, which are crap, though).

We rarely do battles, and I think the only item we turn off is Tripple Missiles.

The voice overs are actually pretty funny in CTR, especially Cortex's "Yes" which sounds like "Ghey".

The only problem I have with CTR is the lack of tracks :heh: The games so good I wish there were so many more:weep: (And you can't do the last level in multiplayer).....Oh...and the lack of Brio & Koala Kong (and Komodo Moe(sp?))

The only games to have grabbed me in the same way as CTR are SSBM & Timesplitters 2

CTR is the best Kart racer for sure, and is only rivaled by MKDS & 64 in my opinion.

Most of the tracks are actually interesting

There's fairer weapons

Awesome shortcuts, and pleanty of them

A better boost system (skid boost and awesome air boosts)

And when you scrape a wall you neither get completely slowed down (MKDS) nor bounce around like a madman (MK64)

It's a real shame Naughty Dog sold out Crash, he was at his best when they sold him and all their wacky characters on; he was a B rank...now he's just a crappy D rank.(In terms of poputarity & well knowness, & good gamesness and such what; Mario's an S-Rank....I'm sad ey? -_-)

Dingodile, Ripper Roo & Cortex FTW!!!

*Cortex

**Ripper Roo & Tiny

***Fake Crash

I agree up to the last paragraph. Actually, Coco has an annoying voice over 'pass it on' gets rather annoying.

Mario Kart is not an overrated series, and in MKDS they gave us more than we expected. Ok DD was crap but the series as a whole has been excellent. Im surprised the Mario Kart Arcade didnt make its way onto Cube, twas a shame.

Also you forgot to mention that CTR plays a lot quicker than MK, and the carts actually feel as if they're going somewhere in a hurry.

Yeah...*shudder*...but since no-one plays as Coco, it doesn't matter too much...just blast the crap out of her when she's a CPU/COM player:)

"Move over, mate"

Double Dash is a great game. I think the single player was far greater than that of Mario Kart 64, but the multiplayer was not as good, imo.

However, it was home to some of the greatest tracks in an MK game. In terms of which is the greatest Mario Kart, DS wins it hands down, both single player AND multiplayer.

Great game, though. I thought it was brave of them to change the formula. :)

DS is easily the best. But I don't think MK:DD is as bad as some people make out. Ok so it is alot less about skill and seems that the weapons are very much over the top, but I think the two characters did give an element of tactics to things, what with the unique weapons for each character- but I think it is underused within the game and could have been exploited much better.

Also loved the slog fest that was the last championship where you had to play through every single track. I'm not sure if it's better or worse than Mario Kart 64, got 64 on VC now and I'm not sure how great it has aged to be honest, may give MKDD a go later today.

MK-DD was an alright game, but it was missing that "special" feeling that MK-64 gave me. When i got this game, it was good but it was missing the free race feature (not time trial) that was in MK-64, so really this game wasn't worth playing all the time like MK-64 was. Plus it didn't have enough tracks, and the idea of having 2 people per Kart made it feel like a different game than a Mario Kart game. Multiplayer mode was ok if i wasn't playing.

MK-DS is 10 times better than the dismal MK-DD, which is why i play the DS version more often than the GC version

Loved MK: DD, great game. I just wish there were more than 3 or 4 background music tunes to the whole game!

Although I think the best batlle mode courses are still the Super Mario Kart ones on the SNES. Brilliant fun. Donut on MK64 was cool as well.
