Retro_Link Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 http://www.cubed3.com/news/6700/1/Marvelous_Interactive_on_Wii_&_DS_Only Nintendo News | Marvelous Interactive on Wii & DS Only In a surprise announcement, Marvelous Interactive (the company behind Harvest Moon, Luminous Arc and No More Heroes, amongst many other games) has stated for two-thirds of the upcoming financial year it will only release games on the Nintendo DS and Wii. Very good news!! and great to see a third party really put their support in the console!
flameboy Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 good news but also does possibly point to maybe No Heroes following the route of killer 7 etc...and going multi format at some point...also it doesn't say how many games, so could be very few in that two thirds of a year.
darksnowman Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 True words flameboy. Tell me this though, Killer7 went multiformat on us? I thought it stayed to being on the GameCube only? However, if they can get some decent titles on the Wii before summer, at least we have som temporary exclusives!
Guest Stefkov Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I'vve been waiting for Harvest Moon Wii for a long time. Great to see it will be an exclusive aswell.

darksnowman Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Is that so? Argh, predictable. Dunno why I never heard that before, but still: argh. Well those poor other consoles will only suffer from getting ports of Wii games, our lowly graphics will make the PS3 owners and Xbox 360 kids sick. (PS, don't Victor Studios or something do Harvest Moon? Or have they since passed the baton on without me noticing? Who was it made a Wonderful Life again? - Natsume...? Or am I way off track?)
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I rather see them stay profitable than going Wii exclusive. Money is needed for making good games. If they release on other platforms I wont mind too much.

Rummy Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I found out recently that A Wonderful Life got released on PS2 too, when I saw it on the shelf, I thought they'd just boxed it in the wrong box or something, but it was definitely on PS2, made me feel a little sadder. Having said that, I played it a bit on GC, but didn't like it much anyway, not compared to the top down harvest moons that I'd played(the GBC one was my first proper one, and pretty awesome too!). I think Harvet Moon on Wii could be quite good, like watering/planting motions, bug net swinging, wood chopping, stuff like that. It's also good to hear Wii's gotten some exclusive support, should stop there being rubbishy ports floating around for it. I just hope there's enough effort towards Wii, and not too much DS exclusive. Maybe we could even see some DS-Wii functionality from these guys?

If they release on other platforms I wont mind too much. I think Marvelous are well aware that they need to remain profitable, and thats why theyre concentrating on Wii and DS. I recall some head of a development studio stating that with HD gaming they need to reach sales figures of 500,000 to just break even - thats a big risk for any company. Although critisised for being SD hardware, Wii does not come with such a high risk and therefore it becomes quicker and easier to hit profitability.
darksnowman Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Killer 7 was with Capcom. Yeah, sorry if I wasnt clear, but I'm aware that Killer7 was made by Capcom, twas one of the "exclusives" that was to put GameCube back on the map. It was just that when flameboy said it went multiplatform up there, twas the first I'd heard of it. Rummy: I thought that Playstation got a different Harvest Moon? Perhaps not then if you spied A Wonderful Life lurking on the shelves. I completely agree with what you say about the GBC Harvest Moon - it was quality. A pity there wasnt more that could be done in it, but nonetheless I too spent hours upon hours tending the farm. Lets not forget walking the cows, I'd a great routine in that game and I'm glad to see you liked it as well!

raven_blade2006 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Great to hear they are giving some solid support for the time being. Lets hope others follow their lead and commit to Wii and DS development. Nintendo will live or die by third party support this generation.
Kurtle Squad Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 The PS2 Killer7 is supposed to be crap compared to the Cube one though, due to loading times & weird button configuration.
