solitanze Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 So you expect a first party sony game and a game that contradicts the whole philosophy of the wii to suddenly appear on it? Indeed. Wii is about breaking boundaries in the video game industry shedding into new territory. That should be the case for the consoles game line up as well in all respects. Have the unique games, but they need a 10 million plus selling franchise or two to really draw gamers in the flocks. Cater to the non gamers and the actual gamers totally and they'll be in the money, PS2 territory that is.
fanman Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Indeed. Wii is about breaking boundaries in the video game industry shedding into new territory. That should be the case for the consoles game line up as well. That has got to be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 That has got to be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. lol. solitanze is right and so many people are too set it their ways (or just plain ignorant) to even consider his point of view. Now before you kick off, I could be way off here. And I probably am. But from where i'm standing a lot of people are offended by solitanze because he's daring to express an independent opinion. I agree with solitanze, surely a machine that Nintendo is incredibly different and innovative should.... well... have games that are different and innovative? A gamecube game and a lot of ports that are rarely improved by the remote (in fact, a lot are incredibly hampered because of the control system imo). It's early days of course though, and there is a chance that Nintendo won't just repackage the same thing and watch the masses flock to it simply because they've been brainwashed to believe that anything starring Mario/Link/Samus must be innovative. Can we have a disscussion that doesn't result it people calling each other stupid please?
fanman Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Not that I wouldn't like to see those games on the wii, it's just that they never EVER will be for obvious reasons. I think you missed the point I was making I agree with the bits you were saying there.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I think you missed the point I was making More than likely. I do that a lot :p
mcj metroid Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I refer to the premier franchises other than the ones Nintendo feature on their consoles have. Mainly GTA and Gran Turismo that sell MANY units as per below. If Nintendo Wii gets GTA and/or a realistic racing sim, they'll be pretty well covered.Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_selling_games your point of view is so very wrong.if people want gta then they will buy a ps3 or 360.Wii needs it's own killer aps the survive not the others.the wii is a unique console.it woulnt' be as unique if it had the same games as the others. Now in saying that i welcome NEw versions of gta or metal gear specifically designed for wii
solitanze Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 your point of view is so very wrong.if people want gta then they will buy a ps3 or 360. Exactly the reason they should incite the developers to bring specific versions of GTA from the "official series" onto Wii. If Wii wants to perform considerably better than its competitors, it simply cannot do without these games to compliment the unique games we'll see on the system NOT replace them. Otherwise it will merely be GameCube part 2, bar a few million additional units sold. Wii needs it's own killer aps the survive not the others.the wii is a unique console.it woulnt' be as unique if it had the same games as the others. It would still remain unique regardless, because it has the unique games in the first place, the thing it would do is make Nintendos game line up "stronger" and attract more gamers to buy a Wii instead of a PS3 or 360.
solitanze Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 EDIT: The death of this console has marked the death of this topic as well.
blender Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 The death of the gamecube doesnt happen until sony says it does
solitanze Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 The death of the gamecube doesnt happen until sony says it does Will any console ever be capable of beating PS2 as the most successful home console of all time?
mcj metroid Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Yes but not this time round.Wii has potential though.
Hero-of-Time Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Will any console ever be capable of beating PS2 as the most successful home console of all time? That depends on who you ask. Personally I loved the SNES and I played on and own a hell of alot more games for my Cube than my PS2. In my opinion both the SNES and the Cube were/are better than the PS2.

I remember the PSOne outselling the N64, bt I'd say it's the N64 that has been remembered in a more favourable light. It's games and their memory live on today far stronger than that of any PSOne games. People still talk of Goldeneye, Zelda OOT and Mario 64. They shine just as brightly today.

They do indeed and happen to be three of my all time favorite games. Of course validated via their rankings on gamerankings.com.
