PS3 Price Cut... and Wii still sells more
Teppo Holmqvist replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The real problem is the sheer stupidity that drove X360 or PS3. I mean... Why bring out 400 dollar console, when market has proven multiple times that any console that is over 250 dollars will fail? Or why push software prices higher, when people were already saying that games were too expensive? Or why do gamble where you sell console with 300 dollars loss, and pray that you will eventually have 60 million userbase so that the software royalties *might* someday turn console profitable? Sony has already blown over 65 percent of profit that it generated from PSOne and PSTwo within 1½ years. In any other business this would be called madness. And just because of this, Microsoft and Sony are deserving everything that is coming for them. -
PS3 Price Cut... and Wii still sells more
Teppo Holmqvist replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Have you ever even thought that PS3 or X360 wouldn't be selling any faster without Wii? X360 is moving units same speed as original Xbox. And PS3 is lagging behind Dreamcast. Software sales are slower too, thanks to higher prices and lack of variation. Not to mention that over 40 percent blockbusters for both consoles are either 1st party titles, or titles that were moneyhatted / funded by 1st parties. When you add the fact that development budgets for these consoles have tripled in two years, future looks pretty grimm for 3rd parties. Market has rejected HD-generation, and we can only blame Sony and Microsoft for this. In fact, according to analysts, Nintendo is practically only thing that is keeping market growing. -

You, in the other hand, sound someone who desperately needs to justify his purchase. -

Yeah sure... Unfortunately your post history has also some fucking stupid shit, like posting pictures that are only meant to piss someone off, saying that others are idiots, claiming that everyone will drop Wii when Halo 3 is released, and so on. You are probably quiting gaming all together, because Wii's success guarantes that technological race will slow down. -

Define "good". 20 of X360's TOP-30 highest rated games fall into either driving, FPS or sport games categories. If you don't care about these genres and/or Xbox Live, your choices of good titles are far more limited. And by looking next years release scheducle, it is obvious that same trend continues next year. This is why Xbox 360 isn't selling any faster than Xbox. -
Press down.

I don't know, but because Ghost Squad and RE:UC are coming next month, this must be out too.

Inafune won't even consider 3D Megaman if he can't at least 15 million dollar budget for it. Which won't ever happen in current climate.

Virtual Console - All you need to know
Teppo Holmqvist replied to Tellyn's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Rather good shoot'em up, and considered true classic of the genre. It is pretty fair difficulty wise, and far more far more beginner friendly than, say, R-Type or Super Star Soldier. Gate of Thunder is also first Turbografx CD game on the VC, and takes whopping 282 blocks of space (original redbook audio has been compressed to MP3s). Pretty decent Street Fighter clone, with exotic characters such as viking, american football player, kung fu master, mad russian monk, african shaman with huge mask, etc. I wouldn't recommend buying it, because it is hilariously slow. Just imagine playing Street Fighter II's PAL-version, and cutting speed to half. Yeah, it is that slow. Its sequel World Heroes 2 isn't much better, but later games in the series are pretty enjoyable. -
Well, in Japan, situation is pretty much in lull, but Galaxy / Wii Fit will fix that. Plus latest Dragon Ball Z game generated decent sales when you remember that Wii doesn't have that big userbase. Not to mention that traditionally PS2 pulled pretty similar numbers in late September / October* as Wii does now. Furthermore, it is theorized that perhaps time of traditional consoles is really over at Japan, because every homeconsole is lagging badly. DS / PSP are the ones that drive sales. In UK PAL charts, there are 10 Wii titles in the TOP-40, with Paper Mario, Tiger Woods, FIFA and MySims being in TOP-20. MySims is in the TOP-10. Wii is overall performing better in UK / Europe than X360. * Slowest sales period in Japan And about software sales. Here is few numbers that we know: - Zelda TP has sold over 3.5 million on Wii - Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition has sold over 750 000 copies according to Capcom - Trauma Center has sold over 400 000 copies, making it Atlus USA's biggest game ever. - Eledees sold around 250 000 copies - First Madden sold over 400 000 copies, and that was on the launch. Second one didn't sell that well due control bugs, buggy online, and lack of career modes. - Mario Party 8 has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide. - Dragon Quest: Swords has sold over 450 000 copies, which is pretty similar to any DQ spin-off. - Super Paper Mario has sold over million - Red Steel has sold over million - Rayman Raving Rabbids has sold over million - Cooking Mama has sold over 300 000 on UK alone - Mario Strikers Charged pulled over 500 000 units worldwide - WarioWare has sold over 1.5 million. - MySims, no sales numbers but it has been hanging on UK's TOP-10 for weeks. - Big Brain Academy, over 400 000 Considering that most Wii's current software lineup is shovelware, it is no wonder that there isn't so many titles on TOP-40. But all of these games have been considered successes by their respective publishers.

Not really. There is few facts that people are forgotting when they look at that chart: 1) Wii has sold around 13 million units worldwide, with only 5 million being in USA. 2) Unlike Gamecube, these sales have distributed pretty equally between different regions. For comparision, when Metroid Prime 2: Echoes launched in USA, Cube's installed userbase was around 9.5 million units (ballpark estimation) 3) Still, even though Wii's installed userbase is way smaller than Cube's, Corruption is selling faster than Echoes. 4) Comparing Xbox 360 / Wii sales in the USA isn't realistic, because Xbox 360 has userbase around 7.5 million, which means 34 percent difference in potential customers. In fact, if we take this difference into equation, Metroid Prime 3 has sold pretty much same rate as Bioshock (which is currently at 656 000 units). And difference between X360 / Wii Madden sales had been far more narrower. 5) Metroid has never been that hot property. First Prime game was only one in the series to sell over million in USA. Say that Wii doesn't have hardcore audience is unlogical, because Legend of Zelda: TP has sold over 2 million copies on Wii alone in the USA. Not to mention Super Paper Mario that has sold over million. 6) People who haven't followed sales for long time don't seem to comprehend that million sellers are actually quite rare in this business. For example, everybody knows God of War for PS2? Right? That incredible hardcore title that was extremely well marketed to the installed userbase of 120 million PS2's. And did you know how much it did sell worldwide? 1.5 million copies (rough estimation). Or what about Devil May Cry 3? 1.6 million copies. And so on.

I'm furious at Nintendo AS A PUBLISHER...

Well, you have proven that you don't have anything to say, and you are doing this just to troll others. What a fucking shame. -

Once again common sense doesn't seem to prevail.... Those who are interested about Metroid Prime 3 knew about it, and it also got serious magazine / site coverage. You don't need more than that for enthusiasts*. When Nintendo did dark and brooding marketing campaign for Metroid Prime 2, it fucking bombed. In fact, Wii Would Play campaign has never failed so far. Every game that has been marketed with it has been successfull. * I prefer word enthusiasts to "hardcore", because whole word was only invented to make teenagers feel more mature than they are. Pretentious and stupid. -

Why you are trolling? I mean seriously. If you don't have anything to say, you don't need to post at all. Those four word sentences are fucking lame. And then you wonder why people are getting negative towards you.... You reap what you sow. -

Absolutely nothing, but they don't want to do that for some reason.

"Sucks ass" isn't proper word, because only "problem" with Wii devkit's screengrabber is that you simply can't do bullshots with it unlike X360's or PS3's devkits. Wii's devkit has only 3 MB framebuffer, and it doesn't support rendering picture multiple times, which means that you can't force it do things that are in reality impossible (for example, you can't add 8 x FSAA to your screengrab). If you want to do bullshots with Wii, you need to literally program your own tools for that. And Wii does support AA, but it is rarely used because it is resource intensive effect, and doesn't really do that big impact to quality on 480 resolution.

What if they made Final Fantasy VII remake for Wii?
Teppo Holmqvist replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in Nintendo Gaming
You bashed Hellfire for no real reason, and your general attitude is pretty awful. Indeed, Wii forums have gone to hell, but it is solely because of idiots like you and King_V. You can always claim that you don't care about what others say, but guess what? We others do care what you say. Your and your ilks trolling disturbs normal discussion, and turns it into petty fighting that doesn't serve anyone. And your defense for your actions always degenerates into same, stupid excuse, which is "you're close-minded fanboy". Only thing that your post proved is that you are intentionally trying to get attention, and that you think that this is your personal playground where you don't need to care about others or their feelings. Nothing else. -

Maybe you should do reality check, and look actual facts. New Super Mario Bros has sold over 11 million copies worldwide, which is far more than Halo 2 ever sold. Period. In fact, it is fifth best selling game* of last generation. Mario is extremely hot property, and when combined with fact that Wii will have significantly higher userbase than X360 (Wii did already pass X360 this month) by holidays, it is really hard to say why Halo 3 would sell better. In logical terms, of course. * Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, San Andreas and The Sims are the best selling titles. -

And lots of shitty mobiles games. Not to mention that all of these games are coming out within year. And if count all Dragon Quest and Star Ocean rips, list is even worse. Trolling is more proper word. I think that banning him would be most logical choice, because he is doing this only to annoy others (unlike, say, Pit-Jr). -

Why they should? You don't do that ever. Instead you start to scream "fanboy!" when something doesn't go your merry way. ROFLES to you too. Once again lying*, but somehow, I'm not surprised about this. "How the F is any company as bad as Nintendo?!...S-E is no where near as bad...Gawd I hate these fanboys." I answered to this sentence where you claimed that no company ever milks its properties so bad as Nintendo. In addition that your claim was stupid, it was written in way that was meant to insult everyone on these boards. In fact, you can't even find single mention of Mario Strikers from my post history for period of last two months. Final Fantasy Agito XIII Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales Final Fantasy II Anniversary Edition Final Fantasy IV remake Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Fuuketsu no Grimoire Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode Final Fantasy XI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings Final Fantasy XIII Versus Final Fantasy: Dissidia When I later showed following list, I was suddenly fanboy who don't get it... Get what? Yeah, I certainly remember time when Nintendo released fifteen Mario games within period of 18 months! Or six Zelda** titles! Oh wait, except that never happened! * And if you need any proof that I'm speaking the truth, check this: http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showpost.php?p=545492&postcount=47 ** Comparing Zelda to Dragon Quest releases. -
It is actually remake of first game, which appeared on PC-Engine. They are marketing it as a spiritual successor because Taito decided that they wouldn't publish the game. Only change in game is that Pocky's robe is now blue/green instead of original red (those screenshots are old).
