  1. Nobody said that. But 1:1 realistic sword mechanics wouldn't work and would be fucking boring*. Hybrid where the Wii detects direction where you waving and does one of the various specified maneuvers would work. Zelda's method was pants, but it was mostly limited by game's engine. * And this comes from guy who has watched many swordfighting matches between guys who study real medieval swordfighting.
  2. SEGA Europe says it is coming in autumn. Except that NoE has always released good number of 1st party games for holiday season. Of course it is fucking annoying that everything is pushed out at same time. Games don't usually get release dates before they are very close to release. There is no fucking reason to announce during december that game X is coming in july. It just leads to severe disapointments and confusion. Let see... 1st party franchises that are currently active: Animal Crossing Battalion Wars Brain Training Disaster: Day of Crisis Donkey Kong Excite Truck Fire Emblem F-Zero Golden Sun Kirby Kurururin Mario Kart Mario Party Mario Platformers Mario Sports titles Metroid Prime Paper Mario Pikmin Pokemon Project Hammer Smash Star Fox Waverace Wario WarioWare Wii Sports / Health / Music Zelda Of course, there is also lots of series that could potentially do comeback during this generation.
  3. Maybe, but we wiill see.
  4. Here is few tidbits of the Wii port: - Every extra the PS2 had over the GCN version. - Full motion control over your knife. - New enemies and bosses - Back to the original real-time cutscenes that the GCN had. - Gamecube controller support. - May 31st release date. - $30. Source: Famitsu, via CAG forum translation that I found on Penny-Arcade forums
  5. Oh yes, forgot. Boycott the 3rd parties!
  6. Same was said about RE4.
  7. Yeah, they do that more, but like all other companies, they are still lacking on that department. I just wonder what titles they are currently priorizing.
  8. I would believe they are using Brawl, because of its online features and bigger sales. Usually Nintendo puts four 1st party titles close to holidays. Two of them are big titles, and other two are "niche" titles. Christmas will be pretty insane this year anyways... I mean.. if release scheducles don't change, we are looking at following games in the holiday season: - Gran Turismo IV - Halo 3 - Metal Gear Solid 4 - DMC4 - Brawl - Galaxy - RE: Umbrella Chronicles - Sonic & Mario at Olympics
  9. Yeah, Doki Doki Panic. It was originally done by Nintendo to promote Fuji Television's Dream Factory '87 event. As original Super Mario Bros 2 was too similar to SMB, Nintendo decided to change sprites in DDP and release it as a SMB2 in the west. Later game was released again in japan as Super Mario Bros 2 USA.
  10. No, absolutely no. Nobody does that for few, programming related reasons that I have listed here for few times. Furthermore, there isn't simply enough translators on the market. There isn't simply enough people who can translate japan to directly to specific European language, and know about programming. Those few that match in both requirements are in much better paid jobs. NoE is responsible for following things; logistics, legal paperwork, spending and allocating marketing budget, contracting distributors, doing PR and coordinating localization efforts. They don't take part in strategic decisions such as pricing and release dates. Those happen in Nintendo of Japan.
  11. BTW... Did you know what delayed Wario Ware Twisted on the first place? Gyroscope in Twisted used certain plastic elements that were patented / illegal in EU, and Nintendo was basically forced to re-design, re-patent and re-rate gyroscope, so they would get permission to release Twisted in Europe. Talk about bad luck. I wouldn't be honestly surprised that Metroid Prime Pinball's rumblepak has similar problems.
  12. Heh, sentence that didn't translate very well from finnish to english. I'm just saying that videogames aren't matter life and death for me, and I have no real problem with waiting. You people, in the other hand, are getting overdramatic and highly emotional about release dates.
  13. Smash Bros is sales-wise most important Wii title that there is, so there is no way that it will be released in 2008. Metroid Pinball Prime is there, same goes for Eledees. Pokemon won't naturally be there, as even english translation for D/P isn't done yet. D/P has over 600 pages of text, so it is going to take while before its done.
  14. No reason to release Battle Revolution without DS games. Considering that Diamond and Pearl are released during April in USA, BR will be late Q3 title.
  15. Didn't you notice how I fixed my post? But anyways... Funny statistics: - During last generation, Nintendo has always released at least one 1st party Gamecube title during August. In USA, that is. That never happened with Europe. - During last generation, Nintendo has three 1st party Gamecube title during July. In USA, that is. That never happened with Europe. Nothing is fair in this life, but if you want to blame someone, blame Konami and Atlus. Personally, because I don't live from videogames, later release dates don't annoy me that much.
  16. Only shooting happens in 1st person.
  17. Eledees, Mario Strikers, Trauma Center, Mercury Meltdown, and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon for me.
  18. So... we get Super Mario Strikes, yanks get Super Paper Mario and Mario Party 8. At least NoE is compensating lack of SPM with something. And Mario Party 8 doesn't even count as title for many players, so the ratio is 1:1.
  19. Paul Gale, moderator of 1UP's forums, said that it isn't lightgun shooter, though you could believe so from the screenshots. He also said that graphics are better than you can judge from screenshots.
  20. Actually, Metroid Prime isn't true system seller by any stretch. First one sold 2.7 million copies worldwide, second only 1.25 million copies. In fact, even Mario Parties* have sold better than Metroid Prime. * And still, interestingly enough, I still need to see guy who would complain about Mario Party being late
  21. They do, especially in more recent versions.
  22. Pretty much if you use pad.
  23. Umm... there is actually two Saturn emulators that can run NIGHTS correctly, SSF and Satourne. But don't even except run them well with anything that has less than two cores and modern GPU. Here is few screenshots from Satourne version: Notice that these shots take advantage of D3D, and have much better resolution and anti-alias than original Saturn version. Textures aren't filtered, as it is practically impossible due way how Saturn handles textures.
  24. 8.0 Slightly overrated, but still quite fun boxing game. Did you know that this game was released only on Nintendo Power system in Japan? Idea behind NP was that you had empty cartridge where you could choose your own game. After you got bored with the game, you could re-write cartridge and select another one. Next: Rocky & Pocky
  25. Not to speak that so far this complex april's fools conspiracy is spanning six countries, four respectable gaming magazines, one wholesaler and group of SEGA's representatives.
