PSOne didn't have even that many. Zing!

I have compiled list of games that are slated for 2007 release in the west. It shows pretty well, that 3rd parties are indeed catching up (I have listed only games that have potential to be good). Alien Syndrome Battalion Wars II Beautiful Katamari Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree Boogie Brothers in Arms: Double Time DDR Hottest Party Dewy's Adventure Disaster: Day of Crisis DK: Bongo Blast Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn Forever Blue Harvest Moon Heroes Kirby Madden NFL '08 Manhunt 2 Mario & Sonic at Olympics Games Mario Party 8 Mario Strikers Charged Mercury Meltdown Revolution (for 20 dollar pricepoint it is bargain) Metroid Prime 3: Corruption MLB 2K8 Mortal Kombat: Armageddon MySims No More Heroes NIGHTS: Journey into the Dreams PGA Tour Golf 2008 Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection Pokemon Battle Revolution Project H.A.M.M.E.R. Resident Evil 4: Wii Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Scarface Super Mario Galaxy Super Paper Mario Super Smash Bros. Brawl Treasure Planet Z Wii Health Pack Wii Music WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 Total: 41 titles Of course, more games will be announced around E3, and some will slip to next year. But in overall, pretty decent list especially when you consider that most companies made decision to support Wii so late as last years E3.

Yeah, chrome plating looks always ugly.

It is nice controller. Good button layout, comfortable to hold. Unfortunately, analog sticks were very poorly placed, as pad wasn't designed for them on the first place. This wouldn't be actually that big problem if Sony hadn't decided to skimp on the costs, and had continued to use their first dual-analog mold. It had longer handles, making it more way more comfortable than dualshock. Dual-analog Dualshock

Though it seems to be fucking hard to some people to grasp, WoW isn't the rule, it is exception to rule. It is only MMORPG outside Korea that has over 3 million subscribers. But in the other hand I could list quite many nasty things that Sony has done during last ten years. No one in this business is innocent, and if anyone believed so, it is time wake up. I could easily tell lots of horror stories from all four publishers if I wanted. Here is interesting fact... Sony always claims that it has expanded market tremendously. That isn't actually true, as at the end of SNES / Genesis era, worldwide market was estimated to be 120 million units. Currently, estimated userbase is estimated to be around 150 million units. We are looking at 28 percent growth, which isn't really that much when you remember that its over 13 years since PSOne was released.

I really wonder why people are still spewing garbage like this. Nintendo has continued pretty much its normal way to release games, even though first two games happened to be Wii Sports and Wii Play. I mean, how anyone can say that these are games that are aimed primarly for casuals: Battalion Wars II Excite Truck Disaster: Day of Crisis DK: Bongo Blast Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Kirby Mario Strikers Charged Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Project H.A.M.M.E.R. Super Mario Galaxy Super Paper Mario Super Smash Bros. Brawl All these are slated for 2007 or have been already released.

Interestingly enough, even though broadband connections are majority by huge margin in Europe, this hasn't caused real surge in online gaming.
-
Well, imagine that biggest server provider, AOL (Assholes On-Line) has yet to start offer broadband subscriptions. That probably tells something about local situation.
-
Over 50 percent of US Internet connections are still 56kb or less, thanks to phone company monopolies and fact that ISPs are actively blocking ports that would make faster connections, you know, useful. For example, if you aren't willing to pay 60 dollars per month in some states, you aren't allowed to use ports that are required by most net games and serious, work related programs such as FTP-clients. In Europe, broadband adaption rate is around 90 percent, but rest of the world is lagging behind badly, with only exception being South-Korea and Japan.

I personally didn't like any of the last generation controllers. Each had some features that really annoyed me.

Let's put things into perspective. You are active Internet user. You are using Internet for 1-3 hours per day, by looking how often you post there. This is statistically speaking way more than Joe Average ever uses Internet. Geek wasn't proper word, but the point is that those who are active Internet users tend to be more interested about online gaming. For Joe Average it means less.

Hmh... I did read more of the article, and it is fun that in addition of being sensationalist, it is factually incorrect. For example, part about 3rd parties that don't have access to Mii and online features. Except that nobody knows how many of these 6 million accounts actually play games. The fact that Microsoft doesn't want to tell actual figures means they are much smaller in reality. Furthermore, Microsoft counts anyone who was connected at least once to Live network as active user, even if he has silver account. Figures are also skewed by fact that X360 is still on early adopter phase, which mostly consist tech-heads and HC-fans of original Xbox (same guys who used first Xbox Live).
-
Statistically speaking they are minority, and will stay that way for long time. It is just fact that most internet geeks can't accept.

That article is really, really bad. They are excepting, for example, that Nintendo won't ramp its console's horsepower in next generation. And of course they haven't understood that the other companies will mimick market leader, meaning that next generation consoles won't probably have so drastic jump in horsepower. If Nintendo would listen kids ranting in the forums, it would be much worse financial shape.

Nevermind.

50 pounds, if we believe Amazon.co.uk. It is probably true, as we always have similar price structure here at Finland.

That's fucking bad luck.

Hmh, it looks Corel Draw has done its tricks once again. Thanks. I'm currently aiming to get english version completed. After that, I'm translating it to finnish. If someone would like to translate it to other languages, I would have no problems with it whatsoever. Well, I translated Baten Kaitos: Origins summary to english. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi, As Gamecube is practically dead, I have started to write finnish Gamecube Collectors Guide, that will be released in PDF / web format. Well, as I know it is quite pointless to write something for so small region, I'm wondering is anyone here interested in writing english Gamecube Colloectors Guide? The finnish version is structured in following way: 01. Cover 02. Introduction 03. Information about various Gamecube peripheals (Official ones / 3rd party) 04. Word about importing / modding 05. Indexes for games by genre, style and rarity 06. Short summaries of most important games in alphabetic order. Each game takes one page. Summary text is 250 words long. Boxart. Two screenshots. Everybody would naturally get credit for their work, and guide would be released for free after its done. Here is one sample page from the finnish version of the guide: Odd color balance and jaggy text are results of dumping page into JPG with Adobe Acrobat 7.0. So how it sounds? Bad idea? Good idea?

Or modchip your Wii. Wiikey has already partial support for NTSC imports, and because chip can be upgraded via disc, it is only matter of time before chip supports all games.
