  1. Just got myself Crimson Shroud the other day... I'm really liking it so far! It's really cool in the nerdiest way possible! And also really highlights just how much modern RPGs take from D N' D! The story is very well written, the music is fantastic and the characters are all very likeable (perhaps due in part to the fact that they don't speak or even really animate at all aside from wobbling from side to side!) - It has all the feel, depth and charm of Matsuno at his best What's really a revelation in comparison to Matsuno's other RPGs is the fact that it actually moves at a swift pace! Unlike the likes of Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, FFT and Vagrant Story (who's pace is probably best described as "glacial"), there's no bloat, (almost) everything is explained properly and concisely and everything makes sense. The dice roll mechanic also really helps to give everything a layer of transparancy - removing the feel that you're being cheated by the game when you miss an attack or something similarly bad happens to you. I've always loved the atmosphere and writing of Matsuno's games, but I've never really been able to enjoy them as a whole due to pacing issues or other clunkiness (be it poorly explained mechanics or convoluted and sluggish interfaces), but I'm really enjoying this one so far! What's also nice is that since very little is actually shown to yo, it requires you to use your imagination to "fill in the blanks" if you will, as if you're reading a book. That's really very novel in a modern game, where everything is shown rather than told. I've never really been a fan of tabletop RPGs or those other really super nerdy games, but this is fun. It takes the best elements of those types of games and adapts them to a convinient traditional turn based JRPG format. Great stuff!
  2. If Nintendo had managed to get their "launch window" titles out on time, then it would've been like that. Alas
  3. That, plus the fact that a staggered release would mean that the other versions would sell less, by virtue of being an "old" and "late" port. Of course, with it going up against GTA 5 and possibly Wind Waker HD, they're sending the game to die anyway...
  4. When people talk of the Dreamcast's amazing launch and early life, few people ever note that this only happened because of the year long delay it got before getting released in the west (meaning that it got its first and second wave of titles simultaneously) That's the reason why it had the best launch lineup of any console ever.
  5. I really doubt it. Ubisoft hold the position of power here in this ordeal, not MS (after all, what would they do? Refuse a 360 release and just let Sony and Nintendo have all the fun? Not bloody likely!) That policy succeeds at holding back smaller XBLA devs, but not someone like Ubisoft.
  6. Funny. I'm stuck on the same bit. That bastard is just obliterating me lol!
  7. Of course not, but they did a disastrous job with this whole ordeal. Outright saying that they delayed it for the sole purpose of releasing it as a multiplatform game was the worst thing that they could've done from a PR perspective. It has also resulted in everyone going around saying that every Wii U exclusive is now gonna get ported.
  8. BWAHAHA! Looks like Ubisoft have fired their PR Co-ordinator! https://www.facebook.com/ubisoft/app_323666814360904 One can only wonder why...
  9. The latter. Slightly updated graphics, some extra content in the form of missions and the addition of light/dark chao garden mechanics, the ability to play as Metal Sonic and 12 unlockable Game Gear Sonic games.
  10. Yup, it's good fun. Definately think that getting rid of the Ollars and the strict level structure was a good move. I much prefer the freeform style of gameplay in this one Online sharing works a treat too. Nice, painless, simple and works very well. The object editor is simple enough... until you get into the scripting... (OH DEAR GOD! Even as a Wario Ware DIY vet, this is horrendously complicated! You can make some cool stuff, but it's really hard to script it to do what you want and is nowhere near as user friendly as something like Wario Ware DIY ) Also I'm a bit disapointed to see that you can't really do anything with the Nintendo characters. You can't edit them, tell them to do anything or really interact with them in any way other than riding Yoshi/Epona) Otherwise, it's good stuff. A good evolution of Super Scribblenauts and, so far, the best game in the series for sure
  11. Sonic Adventure is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. I know that it's a shoddily made game, with a horrific camera, bugs and glitches galore and laughable animation to name but a few foibles, but I still enjoy it (yes, even the Big the Cat stages!) I actually kinda like how breakable the whole thing is
  12. I like the fact that 3DS and Wii U are in one forum now. Less seperation makes for better conversation, less redundancy and better visability for each game
  13. Yeah, I'm not convinced that this was the best they could do. The warping effect just looks sloppy and the whole thing looks unfinished and cheap. A real shame considering how good the Wii port of the first game was. I expected something that was at least on par with that, not something that would pass as a decent looking DS game.
  14. Well when they've promised something it is their job to deliver on it! BTW, are you sure that it's due this month? I don't remember them being specific about a timeframe, just that they'd be showing off some new 3rd party titles "soon". Ideally it would be right after the PS4 unveiling event, in order to not have the console get completely crushed by Sony's hype machine...
  15. They did promise a Nintendo Direct for 3rd party games...
  16. Phew! Got there just in time! So technically, I now own an unreleased game!
  17. Both versions have their own sets of advantages and unique features so yes, it is worth getting both (as I and many others are doing )
  18. They said that that they had to make changes within the game itself, so we should see something there. Bought it myself BTW. The Nintendo Premium discount promotion really paid off for me here Effectively netting me the game for £39.99 (A bit more reasonable than 50 quid ) Download's going pretty quick too. Already at 10%, with the process due to take 20 mins. Looks like they've fixed up those servers since launch nicely.
  19. Just twiddling my thumbs until this puppy comes out in just over a month's time...
  20. Hey! If we're lucky, maybe Nintendo will accidentally release Rayman Legends on the eShop on Feb 26?
  21. If it's any concellation; the game's devs aren't happy about the delay either... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=512249
  22. Well at least it's cheaper than buying the Aussie version :p
  23. Paging @Serebii!!! Nintendo have made a cockup! Scribblenauts Unlimited is available to download on the Wii U eShop RIGHT NOW, despite the retail delay... Whoops! Grab it while you can!
