  1. Still think it's a huge missed opportunity to not have Pikachu with his Mystery Dungeon scarf as an alternate costume... I mean, come on! They skipped it for Brawl for no good reason and now it looks like they're doing it again What more fitting alt costume is there for Pikachu than that? The series has had ZERO representation in the SSB series, not even stickers in Brawl! Come on! It's time already!
  2. Then you should be keeping a close eye on Splatoon, Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third then! Because those kinds of games are exactly what you're looking for from them Yes I agree that the lack of party chat is incredibly stupid, but there's not much more to say on that front really That's actually what they tend to do... Instead of buying studios outright (where the talent just ups and walks away afterwards), they tend to headhunt specific staff and buy up staff when a studio with a similar culture goes bust (examples include Hudson-NDCUBE, Flagship-EAD&HAL, staff leaving Skip going to Asobism, Artoon & other staff going to join Arzest; and more on top of the ones I listed). Expanding on this, they have recently embarked on a strategy of saving projects that get cancelled or otherwise off track (games like Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third - with 3 more games being rumoured to have been picked up too...) Them buying studios outright is very rare because of the very high chance of a staff exodus. Acquisitions like Monolith Soft or Mobiclip/NERD only happen when the studio wants to be bought out by them and they know that the company cultures are close enough that can be integrated seamlessly into Nintendo; with all the staff being kept intact and happy.
  3. Difference is though that I KNOW that those games will be great because of the people behind them... You know that a game is gonna be fantastic when Kamiya is the director. I don't even need to second guess that for a split second. You can't argue against a 100% batting average!
  4. Simple really. When something must-have hits the console that is exclusive, I'll get it. Until then, that price is just gonna keep dropping anyway, so why not wait it out?
  5. Killer Instinct (Classic KI Arcade too - the first time it has ever gotten a proper home release even! - Plus KI2 Arcade just got rated by the Korean ratings board, so that's coming too!) Dead Rising 3 (ok that's coming to PC now, but it's still console exclusive) Sunset Overdrive (Looks simply fun, right up my alley ) Scalebound (Kamiya + Platinum Games make this a no brainer for me) Phantom Dust (while we haven't seen any gameplay yet, considering that the original director is involved and presuming that it follows the same kind of gameplay as its predecessor, it'll be one to look out for ) It might not be a huge list of games that interest me, but it's a hell of a lot more than the absolute zero that the PS4 has on the horizon...
  6. You can also watch gameplay videos, read impressions and information to get a feel for how the games play... You can also draw conclusions from these developer's previous output... (especially when a game is a direct sequel or obviously derivative of a previously released game - like much of Ubisoft's open world games and how they all follow the same general formula founded by the ACreed series. If you've played one of them, then you know what to expect from all of their other open world games...) Hands on play and reviews are far from the only way to gauge the quality of a game :p (though that's not to say that I've not previously played the likes of Tomb Raider on PC anyway...) For what it's worth, Trials Fusion is a fun little game that I would've bought on Wii U if it came to that console (got it on PC instead though), but that's the only multi-plat game on PS4/Xbone that interests me and I hardly need to shell out for a new console to play it (hell I could've just as easily have bought it on PS3 or 360 - not really a compelling reason to jump into either of those new consoles ) If the typical crop of multiplatform games doesn't interest you, then the PS4 isn't a good purchase
  7. I did mention the multi-platform games in that very same post... And I never said that the console had no exclusives, but rather that there weren't any that I am interested in personally. As I said before, if you're not interested in the EA/Ubisoft/Activision/Take Two Quadfectia of the small spattering of other 3rd party multiplatform titles like Tomb Raider, then it's really slim pickings on PS4...
  8. Too bad that there's absolutely nothing exclusive that's worth playing on PS4 :p Even Xbone has a few decent looking exclusives, while PS4 has... I mean, if you're into the typical multiplatform stuff then sure, there's no reason to get anything else instead, but if none of EA/Ubisoft/Activision/Take Two's stuff interests you, well... That's not to say that I don't like any of Sony's own output - after all, I love the God of War series, as well as stuff like Puppeteer, Ico and SOTC - but there's nothing interesting looking on the horizon for me (especially since Santa Monica's new IP was cancelled, so we won't be hearing from them for a long while). About the only remotely interesting looking exclusive is Bloodborne, but I'm not a big fan of the Souls games so it probably won't be for me...
  9. From what I know, the game was nearly finished, but not quite there. It was a late beta, with everything pretty much done, but still with a few bugs to be ironed out. The fans took the ROM, fixed the bugs, removed the onscreen debut info and translated the text. I doubt it will see a VC release though. They probably wouldn't deem it to be of satisfactory quality for release... (plus Starfox Command was like a spiritual remake anyway - not literally a remake mind you, but a lot of the core mechanics like the tactical map screen parts were taken from Starfox 2)
  10. You're right on all counts The "Earthbound Zero" ROM floating around is a 100% complete and official NOA localisation (though it still had the Mother title screen, some versions have a fan made Earthbound Zero title screen hacked in, but the ROM is a finished localisation that could easily be thrown up on the Virtual Console.) Nor would it even be the first of its kind. The VC already has a few completed but un-released versions of games up on the service (like the English Arcade version of Wonderboy, or the AES version of Ironclad) As far as we know though, there is no English version of Mother 3 though in any form... (though even then, Sin & Punishment and Monster World 4 got full English localisations on the Wii VC, so it's not impossible...)
  11. That's always the best way to enjoy a game (and that's how I played the game - previously going out of my way over the years to avoid as much info about it as possible; I didn't even know about the Rolling HP Counter before playing it on Wii U and was shocked to see it never copied by any other developer, because it's a stroke of genius!) As for the length? Probably about 15-20 hours-ish I reckon. It's not a short game per-say, but it's short by RPG standards. I never felt it needed to be any longer or shorter though, it's paced perfectly There's very little in the way of "collector"'s stuff in general either. Just a laid back journey
  12. I know I've said this before, but I do think that Earthbound would also join the ranks of Turn-Based-RPG-That-Serebii-Actually-Likes that the Pokemon games occupy. The game does share in a lot of the same elements that make Pokemon games so enjoyable (not to mention that there is a real-time element to the battle system with the Rolling HP counter - Basically, whenever you take damage, your HP starts rolling down. If you finish the battle or heal yourself before it finishes rolling down, you will stop yourself from losing any more health and your HP will start rolling back up; you can even use it to stop yourself from being killed when you take enough damage to fully deplete your HP - a vital technique in this game, because it's not easy!) Of course it is its own thing though and if you love quirky, insane, and nonsensical stuff... Well written and lovable characters... A love for slice-of-life storytelling, with a sense of childhood nostalgia... and a rockin' jazzy soundtrack... You'll find a lot to love in this game
  13. Hard to say... Skip have been very quiet recently. Aside from this game, the last thing that we know they worked on were the Flutter Fly and Pose Mii Plus minigames in Wii Play Motion. I think it's safe to say that we won't see any large scale retail games like Captain Rainbow for Wii U from them (considering that they supposedly only employ 34 people going by their Wikipedia page; dunno how accurate that is, but it sounds about right at least), but they HAVE been very quiet over the last 3 years or so and I doubt that all of that was spent on Chibi Robo LGP... To keep on topic though... I take it that you like CR:LGP then Still need to pick it up myself... If only I had more time... *sigh*
  14. You forgot about Link's Crossbow Training... It would be a very unique weapon for him... (plus the game was quite DW esc anyway ) That being said, I'd be upset if we didn't see anything from the 2D and Handheld Zeldas...
  15. I wonder if Darunia will be wearing a tutu in order to keep with the game's theme? Also supposedly the text confirms Ruto as a playable character too Edit: Gold Skultulas too? Nice! (Wonder if we'll see other collectables for different characters? Bugs for Agatha, Poe Souls for Midna etc)
  16. No, it's a good thing! I appreciate being able to put my card info in privately! (and quite frankly, I'm amazed it took them this long to change that!) The Gamepad isn't going anywhere, so they should be making use of it! It was always silly that you couldn't browse the eShop with any other controller, but the way it is used now makes absolute perfect sense.
  17. BTW: Small little thing, but nice all the same. When you go onto the eShop to buy something (I just went to buy Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland), it forces you to enter the credit card details on the Gamepad still and it puts the text entry display on the Gamepad only. A nice touch that is appreciated when buying content with friends around (nice to be able to enter my details without people being able to see part of what I'm entering! - a bit of privacy is much appreciated ) Hope we get the contactless payment support over here soon. Looks really nice and slick in Nintendo's video...
  18. It's rare that I'm not dripping with sarcasm so savour it while you can Anyway! I'm totally happy with this update not bringing me folders yet again... totally ok with it... I LOVE having to manually organise my Wii U menu by type of download and having to scroll though pages and pages of content to find what I'm looking for...
  19. The Great Fox again!? That's the 4th bloody time they've used that as a backdrop for a Starfox stage! Why can't we have something else? Maybe fight on top of a giant Landmaster or an Arwing that flies through classic Starfox stages (and you have to jump every time it barrel rolls, or else you get killed in the process!)
  20. Especially after the E3 where they went out of their way to push new forms of play with the Gamepad. If they did cut it, then every single upcoming game they showed at E3 (except for Hyrule Warriors) would be made unplayable.
  21. It's about damn time they fixed that! It was always so silly that the eShop was the only part of the Wii U OS that couldn't be navigated with something other than the Gamepad (other than settings, but that's not gonna change for obvious reasons) Can't believe that it has taken so long for the Wii U System Transfer feature to become available either. That was promised over a year ago!! Still no bloody folders though...
  22. There was a damn good reason why I had to Miiverse that! I just couldn't believe what I saw! The grand masters were all pretty stupid too! (except for Jack, who tried to abuse Articuno's Pokepower in a similar way in the middle of the game, but he got unlucky and the coin flip failed every time... I suppose Ronald getting me back was just deserved karma ) I did have to stall Rod's deck to death though, but that was because I was stupid enough to use my psychic deck on him by accident (thank you Damage Swap! Thank you! ) Ended up killing Ronald in about 5-6 odd turns in the end thanks to early game Dewgong shenanigans (that'll teach him for cheezing me )
  23. Heh. Now that would actually be somewhat fair... No it was his Legendary Zapdos. I only had one basic Pokemon, he drew Zapdos and benched it for 30 damage to me (its Pokepower does 30 damage to a random opposing Pokemon when benched). He then proceeds to use Scoop Up and does it again. Bam! Dead... Credit where credit is due Ronald... You diddled me good there : peace:
  24. Yes indeed I do love it; and you should love it too! Still got another 39 cards to go! (Haven't done any trades with Ishihara yet because I can't seem to get a sodding Clefable, so hopefully I'll be starting there!) Still... Don't think that's a bad time so far
  25. So I went to to engage in Legendary Battle with Ronald and... You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse ... Yeah... That just happened. Wow...
