Yeah, it was a great introduction to the physical card game (as well as being a great game in of itself too of course!) I've wanted a sequel for a long time... Why can't we have NDCUBE put to making a new one for 3DS!?
-
WOOT! Pop n' Twinbee is coming this week! At last! We're finally getting into the rest of Konami's un-rereleased catalogue! While everyone may be gushing over Pokemon TCG finally hitting the 3DS VC, I'm probably more excited for this one. Always wanted to play it!

DAT MUSIC!!! Such a crying shame that there will be no multiplayer in this rendition, but the game IS fully completable without trading (unlike the mainline games). Such a fantastic game! One of Hudson's very best! Now if only we could get the second game localised...
-
Eh... Inazuma Eleven started out as a moderate hit, rather than a stupidly popular one, and we've been getting every single game in the series localised in Europe since... Level 5 are typically pretty good about bringing their games over (at least when partnering with someone else...), so if we get the 1st game, I reckon that they'll probably bring over the second even if it doesn't necessarily explode out of the gate straight away.

Oh snap! This changes everything! If there aren't any problems here, then the likes of Pokemon X&Y have no excuses for blocking screenshots anymore! Knowing the internet though... and this butt picture being required... Oh dear...
-
I bloody well hope so! The current moveset for her looks incredibly disappointing... I mean for godsake! They had the opportunity to literally re-create this... ... as a playable character! How could they waste an opportunity like that!?
-
Wait... THAT's her moveset? No swarms of bees? No army of bugs? No subtle sadistic tendencies? LAME!!! Total missed opportunity She looks so boring to play as with the bees put back in the bottle

I've heard of it, but not really seen it. Looks fun Might have to give it a cheeky look

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

Yeah, Matthew Matosis does some fantastic critiques in general. I'd recommend his whole channel (even if I disagree with much of his Skyward Sword review - I do agree with pretty much all of his other ones in general and he offers some really detailed and balanced insights into each game he critiques ) -

While it's true to say that you don't know where the spike would be at all times, it's not right to say that it comes out of nowhere. Upon entering the room, you know where the spike is, how it moves and how fast it completes its movement pattern. The game is challenging you to make it through the room, without you having full view of the spike at all times, making the player tap into their skills of special awareness. It's completely fair because you are given the full set of information that you need when you first walk in, before you even get to attempt moving past it. It's not inherently a bad thing to not be able to see every obsticle at all times, so long as you are given a chance to study your surroundings and obstructing obsticals in full view before they're thrown at you. It's a different form of gameplay that takes advantage of what 3D space can offer, but not inherintly "bad design" as Arin wants to make it out to be... It does, but he goes onto to say how Z Targetting in of itself makes combat more complicated than it would be without it. That's pure rubbish! Can you imagine how convoluted Zelda combat would be without it? How difficult it would be to hit anything airborne or not brain dead stupid!? (Good luck trying to hit the bats without it!) And going back to the whole "disconnect" thing with Z Targetting... He also doesn't mention that you don't have to use it and that many enemies are just as easily dispatched without it (Tektites, ChuChus, Deku Scrubs, normal Stalfos etc). Z Targetting is only really required against the more complex enemies that you typically do fight one on one, or on airborne enemies (which can also be dispatched using 1st person too). And with the enemies that you do fight one on one that like to sit around and wait, there is almost always a quick way to kill them (the only exception that comes to mind are the Gerudo Guards and the Iron Knuckles) - he also elongates the fights shown in the videos by either holding out the Hookshot, or standing too close to them (both of which encourage them to act defensively). -
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

Yeah I saw this the other day... He makes some valid points (specifically about the emphasis on waiting in OOT and the way that they changed how the boss battles worked - to being more about elaborate puzzles that you solve than being about a pure test of reflexes and skill)... But he gets so much wrong that it's hard to take what he says seriously. Really!? The spikes being off screen - despite their full and complete circular pattern being THE VERY FIRST THING YOU SEE WHEN YOU ENTER THE ROOM!! - the bats being more challenging to hit, that's a problem!? (Hell it also actively encourages you to make use of your non-sword items, something that ALTTP never did), the idea that Z Targetting complicates combat and seperates the world of exploration from the world of exploration!? what utter bollocks! Z Targetting actively simplifies combat and allows for accuracy in 3D space! It goes on and on... Now he did have something of a point about how ALTTP offered you more freedom in how you could explore the world and how it felt more cohesive, but then he gets bogged down in how OOT actively blocks your progress and fails to mention how ALTTP actually does the same thing with how certain parts of the map aren't accessible until you've already done certain things in the game. The only difference here is that OOT makes more use of NPCs who block your path (and even then, it only happens twice in the whole game IIRC) and scripted events, while ALTTP purely takes the Metroid route of having areas blocked off until you have certain items. And his quib about how the items in each dungeon are used against their respective bosses can also apply to ALTTP (as well as every other Zelda game not called Majora's Mask). Every Zelda follows that rule (and while I'm at it, they also all have bosses that subvert this rule too - ALTTP has the Turtle Rock boss, while OOT has Bongo Bongo, which doesn't require the use of the Hover Boots at all). His videos on Megaman/Megaman X and CV1/SCV4 were much better than this... Hell I actually prefer ALTTP over OOT myself and I still can't side with him on this video... -
Ha ha! The translator clearly had a lot of fun portraying this guy as the pretentious and clueless knobhead that he is This response from Miyamoto also made me smile... It's nice to see that he's not letting their current plight get to him and stop him and the rest of the staff at Nintendo from getting on and continuing to try and break new ground That guy that went to ask them to give him free games was hilarious as well

Yeah, the first game is digital only in Europe, but physical in the US (so you could always import it, since the console is region free. That's what I did - plus there's no DLC either, so no need to worry about any sort of hassle in dealing with buying anything from the US store if you import the game.), but the upcoming sequel Project Diva F2 is physical and digital in Europe this time Yeah, you can adjust the volume of the music and chime sounds separately in Diva F (I assume that the same applies to Mirai as well) Yeah, the visuals are really impressive and only get even more bonkers as the game goes on! (Oh and they totally purposely make the notes hard to see in front of the insanely colourful backgrounds too! But you never really feel cheated or frustrated though, it's all part of the fun really) - If you thought that the demo videos were nutso, Bit of a shame that Mirai's videos don't seem quite as crazy, but the gameplay looks nice and solid though and that's ultimately the most important thing (plus it's ridiculously cute - which is always a good thing ) Yeah, the press release says it's coming next year (didn't say when, but I'd probably bet on some time between March-May).

There's tons of scope for Mega Man trophies here. There's just so much material to pluck from that it must be a total nightmare to have to choose just a small subset of what's on offer here!
-
Yeah, all the songs in the two localised Miku games on PS3/Vita were in Japanese (with lyrics written in Romanji) and this will be no different. The gameplay in Project Mirai is a bit different from the Project Diva games, but it's still a rhythm game set up in a similar way... So it'll still be delightfully bonkers when we get it
-
True, I suppose it does apply both ways as well I guess. But that kind of elitist attitude is something that you do see from a notably large subset of them - even if it is rife throughout the whole FGC anyway. Obviously it's not something that you can blanketly state about every competitive Smash player, it is just a stereotype after all, but it is funny whenever it ends up being actually representative. But hey! They're great players and they're hugely entertaining to watch. They do good in the community, they drum up lots of interest in the game (and Nintendo as a whole) and they are also comprised of some of the most talented hackers out there too. I have huge amounts of respect for the community at large, even if I dislike the stereotypical attitude.
-
The celebs did a better job of playing 4 player than the competitors did, by far (and as far as we know, they didn't even get a chance to practice beforehand like the competitors did - so they were actually at even more of a disadvantage!) I'm not saying that they're not a positive influence on the game's popularity or on society in general, I just hate their elitist attitude in general (something that is generally applicable to the FGC as a whole though really) and their constant berating of anyone who sees or enjoys the game differently than the way that they do... ... and that's exactly how I (and Sakurai himself) feel about Smash. As I said myself earlier on, Smash (and all of Sakurai's other games) are all about playing the game the way that you want to; that's why all of his games are packed to the gills with options and ways to tinker with and tailor the experience to the way that you want to play. My problem with these people (speaking generally) is that they are completely un-accepting of anyone who prefers playing a different way of playing than they do - to the point that they actually modified Brawl to fit their ideal vision of how Smash should be played (a collective Fuck You to both Sakurai and people who liked the changes made in Brawl). It's not that I don't appreciate their efforts (indeed, Project M is an incredible achievement!) nor that I don't appreciate their love for the series in general, but I absolutely hate their attitude towards anyone outside of their group and find it utterly offensive. I also imagine that it comes across as quite offensive to the developers themselves too, with stuff like Brawl+ as they're basically throwing up two fingers to them and telling them how they should be making the game (quite literally with that guy at the invitational who offered to help Sakurai balance the game!) You can be passionate about playing Smash competitively and showing your love for the game, but that doesn't mean that you have to be complete pricks about it to anybody who likes playing it a different way to you...
-
Actually, it's looking pretty likely to be coming out over here since the tie-in anime series (it's meant to be a cross media franchise like Inazuma Eleven) is coming out outside Japan... As for what it actually is, it's an RPG series that is supposedly similar to Pokemon - made by Level 5 (Prof Layton, Inazuma Eleven, Fantasy Life etc).
-
I'm sure that I'm probably like the only person here who cares, but whatever! Miku Project Mirai is coming west! http://blogs.sega.com/2014/07/02/hatsune-miku-makes-first-western-appearance-on-nintendo-3ds-with-mirai-remix/ http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=847901 Includes all of the content from both 3DS games and more on top that wasn't in either original JPN game! WOOT! Come for the cute, stay for the rhythm!

Probably best you don't "1 on 1, No Items, Fox Only, Final Destination" Melee fanboys are still far worse though. No Fun Allowed indeed Watching them struggle with dealing with anything outside of their comfort zone in the Invitational was a true joy to watch. Soooooo funny (and also explains soooooo much about their attitude)
-
Yeah I have Project M installed on one of my Wiis and it is fun... But it also has a host of problems for me (and these are all ones that @Glen\-i will surely back me up on here...), most notable of all are the stages; which have now basically all been turned into different skins of Battlefield/Final Destination. While it is fun in of itself (and no doubt the key inspiration for including FD versions of all stages in SSB4), it is really transparently geared towards the "tourney scene's" preferred way of playing and doesn't cater towards anyone else. They sucked all the fun out of the stages for anyone who isn't the type who thinks nothing but "No Items, Fox Only, Final Destination". The character changes are also really cool and amazingly well done, but they're also all really arbitrary. Ironically, for all the complaints about Metaknight being overpowered in Brawl, he is actually one of the few characters who recieved next to no changes at all - instead (for some god-only-knows-what reason), they felt the need to horribly nerf and pretty much destroy Squirtle (seriously! He's basically useless now!) It's weird and random, but it is a load of fun. I would never recommend it over vanilla Brawl, but it is definately worth your time. It's great fun and a nice twist on regular Brawl that does go a long way towards making it feel fresh and new again (it's worth it just to try out Ryu Nu Lucario - it's just the most ridiculous thing - he even has a new move that is activated by pressing A and B at the same time when his aura is full! ) The new animations and win poses are first class too - Diddy's new victory animations are just... YES!

Yeah, I love the original N64 game for how simple it is to play and yet how so meaty and impactful all the moves are and how there's a lot of depth with each stage. It's a shame that most people don't give it a fair shake these days because it's so lacking in terms of content, cause it's actually really fun to play and really distinct from the other games in the series... ... Which also makes me a bit disappointed in how similar to Brawl SSB4 looks. It really looks like they took Brawl and just built on top of it, rather than starting from scratch like they did with all of the previous games (look at just how many Final Smash moves and assist trophies look to be straight up re-used from Brawl - albeit with updated graphics of course) I don't mind it much either; after all, Sakurai's games are all about options. His main focus when creating games is making sure that the player gets to carve the experience that they want to play themselves; so the idea of the "tourney scene" sits fine with me since it comes simply as a result of people settling on a preferred style of play - I just dislike it when people put this form of play on a pedestal as being the one "true" way of playing the game; especially when that wasn't Sakurai's intention to begin with (I also generally dislike the FGC's exclusionist nature in general too and the idea of anyone bowing to their wishes exclusively, or even being expected to and criticized for not doing so, just outright pisses me off - that moment during the Invitational where that one Smash player actually had the nerve to go to Sakurai and offer him the proposition to "help" him balance the game was just the most utterly cringeworthy and disgusting thing; just simply unbelievable - Especially after seeing how incredibly bad they were at playing 4 player ). It is infinite, but it doesn't push you in a direction like in Melee; there's also a small cooldown period between dodges where you can't dodge again - but you can still choose to attack at any point after you air dodge.

They should have Lana be able to turn enemies into Goddess Cubes; then later on you find the treasure chests that they've opened up and they give you little figurines of the enemies she's killed that you can collect in the Nintendo Gallery from Wind Waker

Just like how they wouldn't hold back OR/AS in Europe a week later in Europe than anyone else, or how they would never hold back Mario Kart 8 (their former lynchpin) from making Xmas 2013 They're not willing to put out games before their done, so they have no control over when a delay is necessary. If the game isn't done in time, then that's that... Nothing that can be done There's always a chance that they could do a "prologue" version of sorts to tide people over till next year, but I'm not confident that they're gonna make it when even the 3DS version is launching as late as October 4th...
-
SSB Wii U will in no way shape or form make it for 2014. Not a chance. The fact that the 3DS version has been pushed back to October 4th from its original "Summer" release date is evidence enough. There isn't enough of a gap from October to December for them to get the Wii U version finished in time. It'll be March-April 2015, mark my words.
