Have to say that the trailer still feels nothing like classic Star Wars and more like Nu Trek... That being said, I like Nu Trek, so I'll enjoy it for what it is. Got my tickets on launch day, so I'm good to go

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (30th Oct)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, that's why I'm perfectly fine with this change. Plus the girls are clearly very young and certainly (I think myself anyway) look like they could be underage... -
Yeah, Glen-i's right. It relies on being a PC game (and all that comes with it) for some parts... Still, it's a great game and absolutely deserves to be played! You can use a 360 controller just fine with it. If you love games like Earthbound, you'll love this one!

KONAMI - What the hell are they doing!?
Dcubed replied to RedShell's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Of all the sorrowful downfalls the industry has ever seen, few compete with that of Konami It's clear to see what direction the management want to take the company and the general lack of respect they have for their company's legacy (or Hudson's for that matter!!) Best we can hope for is for other companies to take on their staff and give them a good home and a decent budget... And that's not something that is easy to come by these days as the big Japanese developers are largely imploding and increasingly heading to mobile only... Nintendo have taken on most of the original Goemon series staff at Good Feel and pretty much all of Hudson now reside at ND Cube, but there's still a huge amount of talent that are literally rotting away within the walls of Konami, doing shockingly menial work like working as janitors and security guards! And it's easy enough to say that they should all go indie, but that's a difficult task in Japan; given their work culture and really? Out of all the people at Konami, the only directors who truly have brand name power were Kojima and Koji Igarashi - as talented as the rest of them may be, they don't really have the same kind of pulling power as them, so Kickstarter would be a very difficult option for them... At this point though, Konami is basically a prison that is holding these people and their IP hostage... Their support of services like Virtual Console also leaves much to be desired... If only someone could buy their IPs and developers Then they can just fuck right off for good! -
Well the rating does cover the Wii, PS3 and PSP as well as Wii U... If it were the NES version, it would have a different rating as the NES version is both a different game entirely and is obviously not available (nor will it be) on Sony's platforms, so... Oh yes fucking please!! Rondo of Blood and the Ys games on the Gamepad!? GIMME GIMME GIMME!!! We also are still missing other games like Legendary Axe as well, so here's our chance! Then hopefully Mega Drive, Neogeo and VCA will make a comeback and I'll finally get the chance to play the likes of Windjammers and Castlevania Bloodlines!

Oh @S\.C\.G... http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1126823 Well isn't that creepy timing? considering that we were just talking about TG16 games on the Wii U VC the other day

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (30th Oct)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Just as I thought Just like with Metroid Prime 3, the faster and more accurate controls have allowed them to go to town with the enemies in making them much faster and more interesting than past games. Great stuff! Sounds like it's pretty much everything I was hoping it would be -

Sounds good. The Gamepad working well as the Camera Obscura is all I really need to know for this to be a purchase for me Did you end up seeing the ghosts coming from all angles @Mr\-Paul? I know you've not played past PZ games, but from what I hear they have made the ghosts much faster and much more aggressive than past games because you have the Gamepad acting as the camera. In previous games they all tend to be slow and only ever come at you from the same height as you - from what I hear you have quite a few coming down from above/up below from you and coming much faster than before in this one! I like the PZ series, but the games do always feel really plodding and slow (your characters are slow to move and react, the camera controls have always been slow and the ghosts move slowly), so having everything given a boost of nitro is a big plus in my book! -
Ehh... There's a fair amount of text in there, so unless they're willing to translate it, I doubt that it's a candidate for western release... (And it's not exactly in high demand like Mother 3 or the Fire Emblem games either...) @Serebii You forgot to bold Nintendo World Cup, VS Excitebike and Pro Wrestling (forgot that Kung Fu was based on a license). So that's actually 5 1st party NES/FC/FDS games that could see immediate release in Europe.
-
True, but still :p Speaking of which, there's also Clu-clu Land D (the FDS only expansion). That has actually been released outside Japan once before inside Animal Crossing. As for NES, you forgot Kung Fu and Nintendo World Cup (not Nintendo made, but still Nintendo published games that could be easily re-released).
-
You've forgotten VS Excitebike. It's out in every region except for Europe.
-
Cool! Here's hoping that they get into the Superscope games soon!

EA will be almost impossible to get back on board, not because of hardware but because of politics. The reason why they sabotaged all of their efforts on Wii U and unceremoniously dumped the platform publicly is because of Nintendo rejecting their demand to give them control over the eShop and make everyone sell their Wii U download games through Origin. Unless Nintendo end up with a megahit like with the Wii, I can't see them winning over EA... Ubisoft, Activision and Warner Bros are all possible to win over though (Take Two is probably a no go though as they seem to hate Nintendo - at least the Houser Bros do)

Don't see why you should be so worried about it being based on Wii U hardware. As long as the popular middleware (like UE4, Unity, F-Mod etc) is ported to it properly and is properly supported, that's all that matters to them. Of course that's a big IF though... (and it would be a big IF, even if it was X86 based, given Nintendo's past history with the likes of Epic...) And it's something that they should seriously consider drafting NST in to help 3rd party developers/middleware providers with...

Probably for Zelda Wii U and Pikmin 4. No doubt Monolith is co-developing them both (considering their involvement with both Skyward Sword and Pikmin 3).

Aren't the girls meant to be underage? If so, I can perfectly understand it... Seems like a decent compromise to me. I'd rather have these costumes than the creepy (and not the good kind!) looking bikinis anyway :p -
I've always said that the handheld would be either late 2016 (November) or early 2017 (March), depending on whether or not it's ready in time (personally I lean towards March 2017 because their handhelds more commonly release in March than November because they usually end up missing their intended dates - 3DS for instance was originally intended for late 2010 before their troubles with N-Vidia pushed the release date back) My stance hasn't changed. The console will probably be November 2017 (and if it slips, it'll be March 2018 - though I highly doubt that they'd let that happen as that's an absurd release date for a console).

Here ya go.... First screenshot of Pokemon NX too

OH SNAP!! https://developer.nintendo.com/home NINTENDO HAVE FINALLY GONE NEXT GEN!! That crappy old developer's website (WarioWorld.com) has finally been replaced!
-
Yup, that's the one thing we've known since it was announced. A new console and a new handheld that share the same OS and hardware architecture, like the iPhone/iPad (allowing game code/assets to be shared across both devices - allowing for much more efficient development; and the easy ability to make multiplatform titles). Supposedly based on the Wii U's hardware archtecture (so the NX console should be able to run Wii U/Wii/GCN/VC software out of the box). Anyway, I reckon that devs have actually had SDKs for a while now. If they're planning on launching the first NX device next year (probably the handheld), they had better have gotten them out before now if they want to have any sort of semblance of a decent launch lineup!

Best bit is that when one player takes the last hit and loses the last heart, the camera focuses on them to show them dying, so you can all give them the Rhythm Heaven look (or in this case, the Sarcastic Thumbs Up ) The niconico style text updates are also a good laugh as well. Making the game spam them with the game saying that "X is curious about X" all over the screen is funny too. For anyone with half an ounce of humour in your body, you're gonna love this game

I think you know what I'm getting at here. Witcher is a very different kind of game from Zelda and it is built in a very different way.
-
Witcher 3 plays nothing like Zelda though. It's not really "content" in the same context of Zelda's as you're not really jumping, climbing, using items to traverse the world, solving puzzles, playing minigames etc. Building a Zelda game is more akin to making a Mario game really in terms of environmental interaction and making a Zelda game on that kind of scale is totally different (not to mention practically impossible).
-
Twilight Princess' main problem was the way that the actual game content throughout the overworld was stretched thin. The landmass was simply too large and couldn't realistically be filled with meaningful content all throughout (which is the reason why Skyward Sword instead went for smaller and more densely packed areas - which worked MUCH better IMO!) It's also my main fear with Zelda U. There's simply no way they can make a massive open world that is filled with meaningful content; it can't be reasonably done, something has to give. The dungeons in TP are ludicrously complex though! They're utterly massive and at least three times the size of the dungeons in most other Zeldas. So complex in fact that they ended up limiting the use of keys to one at a time, which I felt was a shame, but otherwise they are gloriously 120% Zelda! Twilight Princess may be somewhat disjointed in places and the story may be somewhat meandering, but it is also perhaps the most ambitious game in the series in terms of scope. Personally I prefer the Zelda games that reduce the sense of scale and instead focus on packing density into a smaller package (Majora's Mask, Spirit Tracks, Minish Cap, Skyward Sword, Link's Awakening), but Twilight Princess is an incredible achievement and still one of the finest games in the series.
