  1. I now own a PS4 and a copy of The Last Guardian! I still can't believe that it's actually real. Like, I'm playing it and still thinking that I'm gonna wake up at any moment I just got up to the exact section from the E3 2015 demo (the part with the unstable bridge). Gotta say that it's pretty spectacular so far! It's definately more Ico than SOTC (or to be more precise, it's Ico in reverse as this time, YOU are Yorda!). It is pretty amazing how Trico looks and behaves as a real animal would. I've not really had much trouble encouraging him to do what I need him to do, but I did get stuck in a wall as a result of him falling asleep at the wrong time and had to reset to the last checkpoint as a result The level design and puzzle design is all very reminiscient of Ico, with a similar design philosophy in play (small rooms that are largely separate but sometimes interconnected as you push forward to an overarching goal). Likewise, the controls are almost exactly like Ico (the climbing parts are also simplified from SOTC, with your character now automatically keeping grip of Trico as needed). The puzzles aren't really too complex, don't go in expecting Zelda, but they do make you stop and think (pretty much exactly like Ico) and are pretty satisfying to figure out. Nothing feels scripted, you won't find any sticky "auto platforming" here, and player agency is here in spades (hallelujah!). It's a game, not a movie and it's clearly proud to be so! I do have to say that the camera has been a bit of an issue all throughout. It does have an annoying tendency to get stuck; the environments are sometimes just too cramped and don't allow the camera the maneourvability it needs to give you a good view of what's going on. All too often, the camera tends to get caught on something and refuses to follow you as you run away into the distance. It's clear that the majority of the game's development went into designing Trico's AI itself as it is enourmously impressive! It does kinda feel like they spent around 7 years making him and then spent about 2 years building a game around him though. But yeah, it fits right in with Ico and SOTC as a to-be classic for sure. Feels like a long lost game from the 2000-2006 era (which it is of course) and I mean that in the best way possible. Even without Trico's amazing AI, it would be a very solid action adventure game that focuses on real platforming and puzzle solving; something that is truly incredibly rare in this day and age. I'm hugely enjoying it so far, but am saddened to think that we'll almost certainly never see anything like it again afterwards.
  2. Switch event invites are going out now it seems (just seen someone get theirs). Naturally, I got absolute squat
  3. The guy is talking nonsense. No way will it run in 1440p on the TV. Not only would it be a huge waste of resources (it would provide a minimal benefit that would only really be visible on 4K displays), it also isn't feasible given the power bracket that Switch lies within (this thing aint gonna be more powerful than a standard PS4). 720p on handheld, 1080p on console is the best case scenario.
  4. Oh wow! That's a pretty big change! I'm not too upset about it though, considering that we've already had three non-linear Shantae games. A shakeup is fine by me as long as it's good.
  5. So it's still non-linear then? Would you say it's more linear than Pirate's Curse or less so? This'll be my Xmas game when the day hits. Looking forward to diving in!
  6. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1327010 Bit of info regarding UE4 on Switch. It's the "full fat" version and not the mobile one supposedly. Also, there are different rendering modes for handheld and console (with the handheld mode running at 66% the resolution of console mode - which lines up with having 1080p in console mode and 720p in handheld mode) Also it seems that Switch's codename was "Wolf". Interesting to know
  7. Not true. The purchase is done via an IAP. The actual download itself is free. You are forced to pay the rest of the game once you beat world 1-3.
  8. I disagree... iOS commands the lion's share of app revenue. Alongside the easier development (working on an iOS app that works on 5-6 phones max is much easier than making an Android app that has to work on literally hundreds if not thousands of models of phones), getting a sweetheart deal from Apple themselves and the kind of marketing push that is literally unprecedented, going with iOS timed exclusivity was definitely the right decision. And when it does come to Android, I'm sure that the delay won't end up hurting it much really. What will hurt it though is the pricing model. I said that from the beginning and the backlash only highlights what I said. They're fighting against the tide here and I don't think they'll win. I bet that my proposed approach would've fared much better and wouldn't have required them to go the unethical route either. If they do any price adjustment, I think that they should do it by implementing a stamina bar and introducing MTs, while offering the spending cap. Not a price drop, but rather a reworking of how the same price is paid.
  9. They both look like they've still got some ways to go... The fact that they're still refusing to show battle screen transitions is very telling... Find it hard to believe that either version will come out next year (let alone the Switch version). Glad to see that they seem to be sticking with the dual screen concept with the 3DS version throughout. It just looks so much more interesting than the PS4 version to me! (yeah it's cool that it's basically an open world DQ game with super duper graphics, but the 3DS concept just looks much more fun).
  10. Wonder how quickly it'll tumble from the top grossing chart... Of course it'll explode out of the gate, but I bet that hardly anyone will actually pay to unlock the rest of the game outside of the initial week... I can't help but feel that going the premium route was the wrong decision... both in terms of making money and in terms of advertising the brand/their consoles (which of course, is the real reason why these mobile games even exist). They would've been much better off just going the full on F2P route, stamina bars and all. If they wanted to go this route while keeping a clear conscience and being able to live with themselves, then they could've just implemented a spending cap (spend, say a maximum of $10-15 and the whole game gets completely unlocked for good). You would've ended up with millions more people playing, not dropping out, spending at least a little money and (most importantly) signing up for My Nintendo.
  11. Excitebots is really really brilliant. It's just bonkers! Great game! Hope and pray it comes to Europe. You guys need to play it!
  12. Won't work. It's a personalised email that links directly to the website and registers your name/email address that you have registered for the newsletter with their ticketing service, so even if you went directly to the URL without having the email, it would do nothing.
  13. Yup. Great game, from a great time, when Konami used to be great... a great time ago... This being in 60hz (unlike the Wii U version) is also great! Here's hoping that the same applies with the eventual Switch version! That would be great!
  14. That did the trick. Cheers! : peace: (Still hilarious though) Looks like there's some Facebook page malarkey going on as well
  15. Best bit is that the ENTER HERE!!! button doesn't even work I legit have no idea how to even enter.
  16. Looks like Nintendo UK are doing their own equivalent to NOA's My Nintendo member Switch hands-on tour... As a prize draw
  17. Purchases are linked to your NNID, not the console. The issue with transfers is that the NNID itself is currently tied to the console, with no way of transferring the NNID to a different console other than by doing a local system transfer, or calling up Nintendo and asking them to do it remotely. So as long as you don't delete/destroy the NNID itself, you can redownload all your existing purchases if you just link your NNID to the same console again.
  18. Yeah it will. It'll just be in your download list. Same applies for pre-installed 3DS games BTW. Oh and BTW, the same also applies if you do a system transfer to or from a system that has a pre-installed game. It'll be re-downloadable afterwards.
  19. Shoulda kept my big mouth shut... No doubt Gamexplain will probably have a 10 hour long video up quickly for me to nick everything from anyway :p
  20. Lovely timing there, GG Nintendo! Ahh well, who needs sleep anyway?
  21. I assume that you're looking to use the Delete All Content & Settings function here... i.e, this option here You will not lose any purchases if you use this option and you can re-link your NNID to another Mii user after doing so. You'll be able to redownload anything you've purchased after doing this. Just don't delete the NNID itself (it's a separate option). Whatever you do, don't do this (that option WILL nuke your account and all your purchases completely, so don't use it!)
  22. Exclusive content and Yooka-Laylee Amiibo to make up for the bait and switch pls. K-Thx-bye!
  23. First pictures of the Florida version...
  24. Seems nice. Probably won't ever see a release though. Looks way too ambitious for such a small team.
  25. Awesome! Death to proprietary charges!
