Stars was probably a codename, rather than the intended final name. The rumour wasn't really wrong per-say, just incomplete in that it's a sequel game ALA Black 2/White 2, rather than just an expanded version ALA Yellow/Crystal/Emerald/Platinum. It's still fills the role of "3rd version" and the time frame given was correct (it's being released shockingly soon after S/M BTW! Faster than any previous "3rd version" by a long-shot) The only thing that was wrong (and admittedly, it's a big miss) is that it was supposed to be coming to Switch. Could've gotten wires crossed about Pokken DX though I suppose.

Just caught up on everything. Glad to see I was right about Pokken, that game was screaming for a Switch port BTW, @Serebii, you'd know better than I. From what we've seen, does the Switch version have all the new content from the arcade version that wasn't released on Wii U? As for US/UM, on one hand I'm a bit disappointed that there's no Switch version, but on the other, I'm glad that it means that the first mainline Pokemon for Switch will end up being tailor made for the platform, like previous titles. Also, it's a sequel, like B2/W2 and I loved those, so overall it's a net positive Guess I can now go ahead and get Moon 1, now that I know I'm not gonna get shortchanged Also I'm really excited for G/S on the VC, though it's a bit crappy that they're not releasing Crystal at the same time; of course they want us to buy the superior game again after buying G/S... I was really expecting them to skip the 3DS altogether with G/S and just wait for the Switch VC to launch. Altogether, great stuff! The trailer for Pokken was superb and really makes me want to play it again!

One thing that separates now from then is the fact that Switch is not backwards compatible, a first for Nintendo handhelds. This is the first time a 3rd version of a mainline Pokemon is being released after the successor to its original platform has come out; whereby it can't be played on the new machine. Sure, Yellow/Crystal/Emerald/Platinum/BW2 were all released for the same system as their respective previous versions, but they were also playable on the latest machines at the time as well thanks to backwards compatibility. Not this time though... As such, there is an actual need for a Switch version this time

I love how blatantly transparent they are with their contempt. It's just hilarious how easy it is to predict them

Apparently it is just being called FIFA 18 now. This will still be true though. FIFA 13 was the only FIFA game ever released for Wii U and EA didn't give a toss. History repeats once more, only this time it'll happen to a very successful console, so it's EA's loss this time

I'm still inclined to believe that the Capcom collections aren't coming because they're planning on releasing them on the VC when it launches; but of course that doesn't cover MM 9 and 10 unless they release them as Wii Ware VC titles...

I suspect a Pokemon Stars LE Switch incoming shortly...

Man, E3 has really snuck up on me this year, and not for a lack of hype either because this one is gonna rock! Sony's side has GOW4, which I'm really looking forward to seeing in full! MS have Scorpio, which will no doubt be followed by some big unveils alongside it. And then there's Nintendo, who are primed to have an absolute juggernaut of a year! (Just Retro's new game alone is bound to be huge, let alone everyone else who is due to show something. Switch's first E3 will be one to remember for sure!) Great stuff all round! I'm pretty confident in this being one of the best E3s of the last 5 years! BRING IT ON!

It's coming boys!

Hamster's Switch NG games have released with numerous issues, from sound delays to graphical glitches (most notably in Garou). Some have been patched and some have not. They're good, but not up to the standard I would expect from a VC release (it's also worth noting that NeoGeo is probably easier to write an emulator for than NES/SNES, because there aren't any expansion chips or fancy PPUs to deal with, it's a relatively simple machine). That being said though, I would really expect VC games (at least for NES/SNES) to start sooner rather than later. I would really be shocked if there is nothing on the service revealed (and ideally, released) come this E3.

Now that's very interesting. So these aren't actually Virtual Console titles (or at least don't carry the VC branding), so are these actually native ports then I wonder? (Like the 3D Classics games on 3DS) At least, the Switch VC service will have nothing to do with the online subscription then. Hmm... Could mean it's far off, or not at all... Hard to say... Guess we'll find out at E3

Sorry, I won't be able to take part tonight. @Glen\-i will be playing on my account instead of me though, so continue to join me as host as normal.

I suspect that the ones that won't require the subscription are mmos like DQ10 and apps like Netflix, same as on other platforms. The lack of SNES games here gives the impression that they are really very behind on the Switch VC. Hope that's not the case...

Very disappointing news. I'm sure they'll end up having characters from other games as DLC, but it's still disappointing to hear. Also... Clearly Hector and Ephraim don't exist

Lovely lovely trailer! Can't wait!

Nice to see the trend of stupid names continues for Square Enix Looks a lot like I am Setsuna, clearly reusing the same engine. Might be an ok time, we'll see.

JC Rodriguez from NOA Treehouse goes over some of the finer details regarding controls here... https://nintendotreehouse.tumblr.com/post/161100556247/welcome-to-arms-part-1-motion-controls Learn, love, punch You can't move at the same time though. You're limited compared to those using motion controls.

Well most of the text will be the same as in Monster Hunter Generations, a game that came out roughly a year ago in the west. The only thing that would need translating is the new content. They would surely have had long enough to translate the new content by September. I reckon it's doable (and it's a good month to release in, especially considering that it would comfortably after Splatoon 2 and comfortably before the likes of Mario Odyssey.)
-
One thing I do have to say... I wonder how many people won't give motion controls a fair shake because they're holding it wrong... I mean, even I got stuck a bit at the start before I figured out that I wasn't supposed to hold it in the normal stance like a div, but that I was supposed to use the thumbs up grip. Also they don't really make it very clear that you're supposed to punch and THEN put spin on your shot with the motion controls. At the start I was just instinctively throwing curved punches; it wasn't till near the end of the Testpunch hour when I found out that you're supposed to put English on it AFTER throwing a straight punch. If even I got confused for a bit, then I can't imagine most obstinate "gamers" giving it a chance Shame really, because they're clearly the best controls and what the game was designed around.

Being able to transfer saves from Generations (X, not XX) is nice. That's compatibility for us here in the west sorted Otherwise yeah, it's exactly the same deal as MH3U, cross save/cross platform play and all. That's a really early release date! Dare I hope for a September release for us here in the west?
-
Yeah, it's pretty great. Figured out that to throw a curve punch with the motion controls, you're supposed to throw a straight punch and THEN curve afterwards though, rather than just try to throw curve punches. Basically you punch and then control the ARM's trajectory in mid air. There's a lot tucked away in the help section. Didn't even know that there was a parry move! Also you can do a whip crack with the slapamander by doing a downwards whip cracking motion after punching! There's a ton of depth hidden away in this game! But yeah! Game is pretty awesome. I'm jostling for the full game right now!

Aww man, those connection issues are annoying. It's gonna make nabbing the results extra annoying, but still doable. Great races everyone! : peace:

Alright! Room is open. Come on IN! : peace:

If this game isn't called Monster Hunter Cross Generations over here in the west I'm gonna throw a fit. Considering that this is basically the same situation as MU3U (right down to the western version being held back for the HD re-release), I would imagine that it'll have cross platform local wireless multiplayer with the 3DS version, that's why it's Nintendo exclusive. MH5 isn't gonna be ready for a good while yet (and will probably run on the RE Engine, since Capcom said they're porting it to Switch), so this'll fill the gap nicely while we wait. I wasn't down for another 3DS outing, but this'll do just fine for now
