  1. Here's another picture of the light gun: http://uk.gamespot.com/e3/e3story.html?sid=6150205 You can just see the classic controller to the left, it's definitely plugged into the Wiimote.
  2. IGN hands-on just in! http://uk.revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707152p1.html
  3. ooohhh... not bad. The design is certainly different.
  4. Yeah, but they could find themselves handicapped by their high price. Hopefully. That is what happened to Sega once, and they never recovered. Microsoft and Nintendo are no slouches when it comes to marketing either - we've seen the Wii hitting the mainstream press with very positive articles. If they can keep the pressure on Sony then they can beat it into second - or even last place. I just hope Nintendo play their cards right.
  5. With all the negative press, it is certainly a possibility that Sony could find themselves coming last in the upcoming console war. The key will certainly be in the marketing since not everyone is as clued up about gaming. I used to dislike Microsoft, but I do respect them for working so hard on improving online gaming and the innovations they have made there. Nintendo will always be close to my heart because of all their great games and their courage to rip up gaming conventions and rewrite them with the Wii and DS. Sony... well, let's just say I have lost all respect for them. My PS2 is going to be the only Sony console I own. They have become far too arrogant, greedy and shameless.
  6. I think that would be an excellent idea. Downloadable content to keep Duck Hunt fresh? If done right, it would be easy - just add a 3D model, a skin or two, and the sounds. Then the game can do the rest. My NES, light gun and Duck Hunt game still work. Unfortunately, they're up in the attic...
  7. Hey, take a look at IGN: http://uk.revolution.ign.com/articles/706/706989p1.html Nintendo are going to show a light gun! I thought we would use the Wiimote just fine, but it seems Nintendo want to give us a choice. EDIT: Quote from IGN:
  8. I'm definitely going to have to start saving my pennies too. I definitely want Red Steel, Zelda, and Wii Sports - maybe even a couple more launch games. And of course I want to have at least two Wiimotes so my family and friends can join in. Damn Nintendo for not giving a precise launch date, I wanted to be able to book my time off work as soon as I could. XD Ah well, hopefully it won't be too long before we get a firm date.
  9. I'm definitely getting this game. It may look really basic, but anyone can tell it has buckets of fun. I loved watching Shigsy, Iwata, Reggie and that winner playing doubles! What a marked contrast to Sony's straight-faced joypad-fumbling "errr... uhh.."s.
  10. STARFOX DS!?
  11. Sorry if this has been posted before, but GamesRadar published an article on the PS3 controller. http://www.gamesradar.com/gb/ps3/game/news/article.jsp?articleId=200605098243281012&sectionId=1006&pageId=20060509852187091 Notice anything familiar next to the USB port? XD The motion sensing wasn't the only thing they pinched from Microsoft/Nintendo. No idea if the USB port was in the original boomerang or if Sony decided to try making their own pad attachments after seeing the Wiimote. ... You know, if PS3 is said to support 7 players, why does the pad display only count up to 4? :P
  12. Before the Sony conference, I did consider getting the PS3 as a second console. Now? No way in hell. Sure, there is the motion sensing ripoff, but what really struck me was how the PS3 is mainly composed of ideas stolen from both Nintendo and Microsoft. Not only that, but it has extremely expensive technology (Bluray etc.) that will only be useful if you also happen to own an expensive HDTV. The games themselves were very pretty, but offered nothing new apart from that card game. In short, almost everything could be done on PS2 (just with weaker graphics). PS3? Unoriginal, overpriced, never going to appeal to non-gamers. Sony also likes to think everyone is stupid. EDIT: Sorry, couldn't resist making this. Behold; Obi-Wan Kaz Hirai!
  13. XDD This entire thread is so true. At least TGS is only a few months away from November, isn't it? Even if Sony were to rip off the Wii's final secret, they should have little to no time to implement it. Their entire R+D department must consist of techies sitting in front of TVs watching Nintendo conferences and interviews.
  14. Aye, while the technology isn't exactly the same, it's the idea behind this. It's just plainly obvious that Sony decided to rip off another of Nintendo's ideas after they originally unveiled a boomerang that everyone hated. Well, I have a good feeling about the Nintendo conference later. As other posters have said, Nintendo are still hiding at least one more ace. There are even hints that the "final secret" is even bigger than the Wiimote. I really hope Nintendo show Sony just what true innovation is.
  15. I'm just laughing my head off. I shut the video stream and went to sleep at 2am because I had been bored after an hour of watching pretty graphics and no new ideas. I missed the interesting bit! Shameless b*****ds. They brand Nintendo as gimmicky then they go ahead and reveal they ripped off the Wiimote, even claiming they invented it first! I would be very interested to know what the reaction was. Surely all the journalists in that room weren't as stupid as Sony seemed to think they were. At least Sony's copy was half-arsed and nowhere near as good. I'm going to be very interested in hearing what Reggie has to say. XDD
  16. All talk, not walking the walk... No real gameplay demos. Boring presenters. Dubious facts. Someone call Reggie!
  17. Well, I've got 2000+ stars in my VIP so if Nintendo Europe do the same with the Wii, I'm in. :P
  18. You know, if Sony unveil a Wiimote-a-like as their new controller tonight, I'll be depressed. XD
  19. They charged me £80! Eighty sodding pounds!. I ordered it from Lik-Sang, it was one of their custom-modded US Gamecubes that also plays Japanese games. If you do import, try a smaller retailer who may be OK with marking your package as a "Gift". I used to order from Tronix ( http://www.tronixweb.com/ I think) and they always marked my games as "Gift" so I never paid customs on those.
  20. Hmm, probably Amazon. I'll wait until the launch details are announced before shopping for the best deal. I would import Wii, but I got hit hard by customs charges when I imported my US/JP Gamecube years ago. :/ Yep, paying in dollars is cheaper but it won't count for much when Customs and Excise get their hands on your Wii. Unless there's an unreasonably huge gap between the US/JP and EU launches, I'll wait for the European launch. I just hope they keep progressive scan in the EU Wiis.
  21. Well, I'll take this with a pinch of salt (just to keep expectations down) and just wait and see what Nintendo reveal. But if this turns out to be true and the game is well-designed, then count me in! If Nintendo can make a fencing game like the TIME article revealed, I can't see why LucasArts/Pandemic/whomever can't make a lightsaber duelling game.
  22. Wow, a stunning move by Nintendo. TIME magazine! That should catch the attention of many non-gamers. The article has got me excited about E3 once again. Can't wait to see Wii in action. I salute Nintendo for taking a huge risk and trying something different.
  23. Yeah, counting today too. I'm not really thinking about the number of days anymore since the conference is only the day after tomorrow! Part of me wants to get Twilight Princess as soon as it comes out, but I would like to be able to experience it on Wii. A new adventure on a new console. Imagine that, a week off work, brand new Wii, brand new Zelda. I just hope TP won't be impossible to get... Memories of the launch of Ocarina of Time are still fresh in my mind. Now that was a real Zelda adventure.
  24. Further to my earlier answer, I'll get the white version. It looks really nice and I already have more than enough black and silver things in my room. Depending on the release dates I'll try and get Twilight Princess at the same time as the Wii. Argh, only two days until the grand unveiling!
  25. Barring any unexpected foul-ups by Nintendo at the E3 conference, I'll pre-order a Wii. Probably choose the fastest delivery option if possible. I'm already saving my pennies for the best package possible. When Nintendo announce the release date for the UK, I'll book a week (or two) off work. :P I just hope it doesn't slip...
