  1. ... Patting? Got to like the Engrish. It looks like a very pretty game, so it might be something I'll pick up if I enjoy the Wii Sports golf. It's a shame it won't be online though, it would have made the game twice as better.
  2. I'm in two minds about this. Like many others, I don't have much faith in NOE. Heck, their Stars Catalogue hardly has anything good in it! I've got over 2,500 stars saved and never used a single one. You see those neat exclusives over at Nintendo Japan's fanclub... I'm going to wait and see what Nintendo reveal about the Wii and how exactly its online service will work. Will it be region free? Will demos be released worldwide rather than just region-specific? After we get more information (maybe in the summer), I'll decide whether to import or not.
  3. £150 sounds bang on target, a release date of around 6th November would be good. Five months to go... Lots of time to save up. The NGC people seem pretty solid, they were the ones who broke the news about Nintendo including Wii controls in Twilight Princess.
  4. I've already put in my e-mail at the Wii hardware page so I'll know when they accept preorders. They forgot to mention Sega Megadrive/Genesis and Turbografx in the Virtual Console section...
  5. Hmmm... I really hope that the US and EU releases won't be far apart - ideally (near)simultaneous. But I suppose I would definitely import if there was a two month wait. I hate paying customs fees but I would bear the pain just to be able to play Zelda.
  6. Some interesting stuff there. I really like the ideas behind Virtual Console and Connect24. Downloadable DS demos? Yes please. I just hope Nintendo Europe does that stuff too. :P
  7. I was surprised there was no thread about it here, thought you would like to know that IGN posted the full list of winners chosen by 37 American media outlets. So Wii got Best of Show and Best Hardware. I'm surprised ExciteTruck and Wii Sports won those awards, I really liked Wii Sports but I expected the media to plump for one of the "big titles". No surprise with Zelda getting Best Handheld game.
  8. Hmm. Well, let's see what they show next week, eh? Personally, I would have just delayed publication of the screens with an explanation why rather than rush out ad-hoc shots that could give the game a bad impression.
  9. I do agree that the Wii should be released in Europe in early November at the latest. Sure, Nintendo doesn't consider the PS3 to be competition since the Wii is "new-gen" and targets a different market. But it would be nice to steal some thunder, wouldn't it? I'll still cling to my hopes of a (near) simultaneous worldwide launch. "Well in time for Thanksgiving" does also allow the possibility of a launch before November anyway, plus Europe doesn't have Thanksgiving so Christmas is the best reference. :P
  10. That grass looks very strange... it looks as if someone went over the screenshot with a Photoshop or Painter brush?
  11. Oh, I'll get a VC game if I can see what will be available at launch. I've got Sin & Punishment pencilled down.
  12. Hey, go easy on the screenshots. For starters, they're early builds, plus the game is made by an indie developer. They won't have anywhere near the amount of resources your normal developer (Valve, THQ, Ubisoft etc) would have. Whatever the final result of this project, I think it's encouraging that indies are trying out their ideas on the Wii. Yes, there may be a couple of dozen generic titles, but there could be one or two made of pure genius... I agree with LazyBoy the games industry needs new blood. It's about time there was a console that gave indies the chance to get their ideas out there rather than have to kowtow to publishers (which often results in their ideas being diluted).
  13. I'm setting myself a budget of £300-ish. Hopefully I can get: Wii console. Extra Wiimote. Zelda: Twilight Princess. Wii Sports. Tempted to buy more games, but I just want to enjoy 1 or 2 at a time. If I have cash left over, it'll be for an extra Wiimote and/or the classic controller. I'm also looking around for a WiFi router (separate from budget) so I can play the Wii and Lite anywhere in the house without lugging wires around.
  14. Sorry, I'm afraid the pics were just screenshots of the E3 trailer. The thread linked to the Magic Box: http://www.the-magicbox.com/0605/game060521b.shtml Nothing new.
  15. That drive is a real work of art. It just shows how much thought Nintendo put into the design of Wii. Can't wait for the launch.
  16. Well, GamesRadar just reported: http://www.gamesradar.com/gb/ps3/game/news/article.jsp?articleId=200605159441218061&sectionId=1006 Sony's official line is "we haven't decided and we're discussing with the retailers". In short, if the retailers don't think there will be demand for the 20GB model, then Sony won't launch it in the UK. I wonder if other retailers plan to do the same thing as Gamestation?
  17. Wow. I would never have thought they would say that. But, as everyone else said, it makes less sense than Microsoft's. The point of Moore's statement was to illustrate how ridiculously overpriced PS3 was. Nintendo's PR dept must be laughing! Imagine if they took Sony and Microsoft at their words and printed huge movie-style posters: A picture of the Wii, with two short quotes from MS and Sony bigging-up the Wii. (Maybe with a "Beware of expensive imitations" tagline too)
  18. Even the official Nintendo site has a video! http://e3src.nintendo.com/news/even_on_day_three_the_demand_to_experience_wii_is_/
  19. Yeah, I posted the article about that in the General Chatter thread. Oops, forgot about this thread... http://revolution.ign.com/articles/708/708558p1.html Nintendo's booth even broke every E3 record! I don't like being cruel, but I have to admit I would have loved to have seen Evil Ken and Kaz Hirai's faces when they saw the human tidal wave hitting the Nintendo booth. Evil Ken: "Hahah! We have many people in our booth! They believe in PS3!" Guy in Crowd: "Er, actually, we're part of the queue waiting to play Wii." Evil Ken: *sobs* I'm convinced Nintendo will win the best show and console awards. But Game of the Show will be difficult, I have a feeling it will be Bioshock for the Xbox360. I played System Shock 2 years ago and it's still one of the best FPS I ever played.
  20. *grins* I agree it'll be Nintendo's show. They've really caught everyone's attention. Microsoft did well too, I watched some of their conference and thought it was very well presented (but it didn't have Reggie or Miyamoto!). Sony just stank. Plain and simple. The "new" PS3 joypad is dreadful, perhaps they should have stuck to the boomerang! Just seeing all the reaction to the Wii was, and still is, amazing.
  21. Hang on, Smowza. If I remember correctly, when Nintendo talked about Connect24 (the Wii's internet connection), they mentioned something about an Xbox Live-like feature of having message boxes pop up when someone sends you something - no matter what game you are playing (or even if you're playing anything at all). At the very least, that could point at an universal ID. Hopefully with the persistent connection, Nintendo will allow you to see what your friends are playing. I also think you would need to set up an account to pay for download games, which could be tied to your universal game ID. Anyway, I'll wait and see when Nintendo reveal more details about Connect24 and online gaming. Surely integration should help with their aims of making the Wii easy to use.
  22. I was amazed to hear him say that, but he echoed my thoughts. I'll get a Wii first, then perhaps an Xbox360 if there are enough games that catch my interest. I like the look of Gears of War and that Pinata game. Kudos to Microsoft and Nintendo.
  23. I'm not panicking, it's important to remember the Wii Wi-Fi has not been finalised yet. Nintendo also took the time and effort to publish surveys and ASK people what they wanted to see in the Wii's online service. I highly doubt they will disregard those responses. I'd like to see something more like Xbox Live. Register for a free account and username (universal across all games), people can look you up and you can give them permission to add you to their lists. Nintendo should remember you can still block people you don't like, even report them to mods.
  24. IGN hands-on of Wild Fire. http://uk.revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707191p1.html I'm getting really excited about this game now. Sounds great. Man... Years ago, who would have thought that Sonic and Mario would be on the same console? (Yeah, I know he was on GC and DS too)
  25. Buy the black console and get a white Wiimote seperately. The blue doesn't look bad, but I'm definitely going for an all-white console and Wiimote.
