Next year!? As much as I like the Wii iteration, I think putting it off till next year is daft. It's coming out as the season ends. It's crazy. I honestly expected Konami to move PES2009 on Wii so it would come out the same time as the other consoles now they know it's successful and viable on Wii. From a quality point of view it's probably a good idea (hopefully), but from a simple UK footie season point of view it's incredibly daft. I don't want them to rush it but I think they miss opportunities bringing it out so late.

That's how it reads to me too Jordan. Quelle surprise eh?
-
JSRF was fantastic. Easily as good as the original, if not better in many ways. Be great to see both games on Wii, along with both Shenmues. /crosses (badly arthritic from years of crossing) fingers
-
Certainly not meaning to be rude to Shadow, but well, this is Sega, and frankly I'll believe it when I see it. I've had my hopes up loads of times over the years, and I don't see how this rumour should hold any more weight than the countless ones previous to it. I'd love to buy both Shenmue and JSR for Wii. Hope it'll happen, but not holding my breath, y'know?
-
I'd love to believe Shenmue and JSR are on their way to Wii, but I just can't see it. Rez indeed would be cool on the Wii for sure. Control scheme suits it perfectly. Nice T by the way Jordan.
-
:D Glad you spotted that one! One of my absolute all time favourite games. Incredible. Show us your T then! Where'd you get it from?
-
Like you say, neither JSR or Shenmue sold in any great numbers. Honestly, forget you saw this. It's easier that way. I've been getting my hopes up about loads of different games rumours over the years (mostly Shenmue), and they always disappoint. Best to just say - lets see.
-
It won't happen. Anyone remember that Shenmue 1+2 double pack rumour a while ago. Yeah me too...
-
Yup. I remember that shot Ren. Then I remember seeing the actual game. Saved my money. I would pick it up for a tenner now. It doesn't look too bad really. But I knew when I saw those pictures that the game wouldn't turn out that way, and sadly I was proved right. Hate it when the games companies pull stunts like that one.

It's certainly easy to get bored in it, because Travis's life is so drab between the big fights. It's all about the chores he does to earn the money to compete, and that indeed can be testing on the patience! However, the overall humour and sense of fun in the battles make it well worth your time imho. It's one of those Shenmue type games - I loved the Shenmue games, but had to put up with everyone telling me how boring they were. It was heartbreaking for me, but I guess that's just how some gamers are - it has to be constantly in your face or they don't care. I think that's the point they were trying to make here with Travis. Excellent game. We need more of this on Wii.

Anyone see Playr today on Bravo? They had this on, and I have to say I thought it looked pretty cool in full swing. Looked as though Konami had really tried to come up with something new. In contrast, they were also showing Soul Calibur 4 on the PS3 and 360, and while it looked amazing graphically, I don't think it was very far ahead of last gen's versions in gameplay terms at all. My feeling was "OK, it's very pretty, but what's new here other than online play"? Even if I had a 360 or PS3, Castlevania would most likely get my money. It just looked more interesting and different. Remains to be seen how the controls will work, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Finally put my hands in my pockets for this game and got it off Play. It turned up the other day. I'd been pretty unsure about buying it, simply because I've read so many disparate opinions across the net. Just done the second boss. So far, I am absolutely loving it! It's clearly a love it or hate it game, one for the older gamer I reckon, who has an acute sense of self deprecation as a gamer and good sense of satire. But put aside the in-jokes and clever pokes at gaming culture, and you have a classic old school reaction/timing based arcade beat 'em up with some very satisfying controls. It's completely stupid (much like the "gamer" lead character, Travis) and great fun for it. It's a perfect fit for the Wii. Any day I would rather have a game like this instead of the umpteen FPS games that you get on the other consoles. Really glad I took the gamble on it now. Excellent!
-
Doesn't look that great to me. Looks a bit sub-Bandicoot/Psychonauts imho.
-
It's early days, but that screenshot looks promising to me. I didn't realise that what I wanted all along was a Castlevania themed beat 'em up on Wii! Definitely one to watch for me, and I'll hold off on buying that scratched up copy of Soul Calibur 2 from eBay until this turns up.

What was 'wrong' with Twilight Princess?
K-project replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Well, I certainly didn't want to upset anyone. It was just a suggestion, just a very broad general observation. I had a GC at the time too, but had an inkling they'd improve TP for the Wii in order to make it a strong launch title, so I held off buying the GC version because I knew I'd want the Wii one eventually. Some improvements didn't turn out so good as I gather, but overall I imagine the Wii version to be a bit more polished, but I wouldn't pretend to have any actual experience of that. I've only played the Wii version as I say. However I've read a number of posts around the net regarding technical issues with the game, that simply don't exist on the Wii game. And that led me to my post above. -

I've heard this a few times now; people saying they feel TP was lacking technically. I'm going to say - do you think it's possible that many fans' possessiveness over the GameCube version actually led to them having a worse experience with Twilight Princess? I haven't played the GC version, but on Wii TP is extremely solid. There's no loading between areas (certainly nothing I've ever noticed at all), and there are no glitches of any sort. It's stunning imho. I dare to suggest this, but I did find fans' extreme preference of the GC version mind boggling at the time, and I do think it's harmed the games' reputation as a result. My tuppence worth is - I loved Wind Waker, but it was very, very short and sweet. The graphics and style are amazing, but as a game it relied too heavily on that and didn't put the love into the actual adventure. Twilight Princess isn't perfect, or an antidote for those who hate the cel-shading, but is nevertheless a tremendous videogame, a wonderful addition to the lineage, and deserves a better rep among gamers. -

This. I don't think it's an OoT beater either. I don't think it quite has that spark of the new or the magic of OoT, but in it's own right it's an amazing experience. I certainly agree that it needed more life too in it's fields and towns, but for me I've loved every minute. Not a moment of it dragged or bored me, and that is a rare blessing indeed in a modern videogame, especially one with an adventure as large as TP. -

I dunno. I love it. Been a big fan of the Zelda games since the SNES and thought Twilight Princess was absolutely lovely. That's not to say that I don't think there's a load of stuff they could do to improve it though. I agree with those who say it needed more life. I want to empathise with the inhabitants of Hyrule, and feel for their struggles etc. I want to feel a part of the life there - make it more unpredictable Nintendo. It's funny, I read a topic on Channel 4's Gamecentral over last weekend, where they asked readers which game world they would love to live in in real life. Loads of people said Hyrule, and I think Nintendo could do so much more to capture that, to make it somewhere you don't want to leave and where you don't know what it's people will do next. That's about the only thing I think is missing from TP for me. Otherwise I love it, and still play it regularly now. As for hardest Zelda - Majora's Mask was the hardest for me so far. All the others are about equal. I certainly don't feel TP is any easier than say, a Link to the Past at all. -
Really fed up. Had this on pre-order, but had to cancel because I simply can't afford it. I'll have to pick it up later on. In the meantime I'll comfort myself reading about how good it is from you guys. Hopefully...

Do you think so? I've not heard anything of a HDD for the Wii. Plus, can you imagine how long it'll take to download those games? I'd much rather just buy a boxed disc from a shop.
-
I still think a good idea would be to bring out a GameCube Classics label, and stick all the best ones on it for Wii owners to catch up with. I'd much prefer that than having to buy scruffy copies off eBay of games like Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Metroid and F-Zero etc. Hell, they could even stick Soul Calibur 2 in there. I say, charge about £17 and that'd be fair. Really surprised Nintendo haven't done this already.
-
:D To be fair, I loved the art style of Wind Waker, but the game left me cold in truth. I found it really short and padded out, and it really felt like Nintendo were just going through the Zelda motions. I much prefer Twilight Princess, though admittedly I did miss the Disney style graphics of WW. I remember getting to the end and going, "What? Is that it?". I've just ordered Phantom Hourglass for the DS, and I'm hoping that delivers a bit more on the promise.

OK, the guy doesn't like Zelda. It doesn't work for everyone, so let's move on. I would recommend you keep away from Okami too if you don't like Zelda, since it draws it's inspiration from the Zelda series. Seems wrong to be recommending you stay away from these fantastic games, but if you don't like them I guess that's where we are. Metroid might be worth a look for you, but don't expect a fully blown Halo style shooter. It's much more exploration and discovery based, and more leisurely paced than Halo. I prefer it, but that's just me. I never liked Halo (not that I'm presuming you do), and Metroid was right up my alley. If you can, try before you buy, but I do believe Metroid is quite cheap these days.
-
I too had played Resi 4 on the GC, but still fancied doing it again on Wii. I managed to pick it up cheap, and boy I'm glad I did! It's simply better all round imo, and you cannot beat the feeling offered by the remote in combat. I'd still recommend it, especially if you see it cheap. So much more satisfying with the remote over a joypad. No More Heroes is on my list too, but I've plumped for Okami instead at the moment. I'm hoping to pick up NMH cheap in the future, as I've heard some mixed things. Pity Nintendo don't provide demos...

Eh? What's up with Twilight Princess? It's absolutely fantastic. Mario Galaxy is what the system exists for. It's really astounding, and I don't mind saying that even after years of playing the Mario games. And I'm well old enough to know better! I'm constantly playing through it time and again, and I've not done that with a game since Mario 64 and Mario World before it. It's just such great fun, and worth every penny. It's really brought me back into gaming, when to be honest I thought I was finished with it all. There's simply nothing cynical at all in Super Mario Galaxy. Other than Mario Galaxy, I'd have to recommend Resident Evil 4 to the new Wii owner, and perhaps even PES2008. They are both games that, along with SMG, ably demonstrate just how the Wii remote can add and improve games that you thought you knew. Also, you should be able to find Excite Truck fairly cheaply these days too, and I would definitely recommend that too. It might not have the graphics of something like MotorStorm on PS3, but it's a better game imho. After that, give Mario Kart a look, and keep an eye out for Okami soon. Good grief, so many games! It's like old times for me! I don't think I've enjoyed a console this much since the old SNES days.
