I'm not sure why it's being used so much, but you may have noticed it's actually referring to the phrase 'flogging a dead horse' as in there's no use in flogging a dead horse because you can't get it to do owt, innit
see, that's what it means. It doesn't mean whatever the fuck you think it means, but it clearly isn't what it really means because it's just popping it's ugly, annoying head up randomly, and far too often.
using it correctly would be something like this:
'My pc is completely ballsed by virus ridden porn Jordan sent me. Time to buy a new one:horse: '
or something.
but instead we get this kind of thing:
'I just had lunch. :horse:'
it makes no sense, it's an ugly icon and I'm grumpy and pedantic because I have lots of work to do!
